Grooming: Picture perfect from head to toe

manicure and pedicure are a MUST, even if your hair is a little messy or your clothes are wrinkled, nothing says more about you that well groomed feet and hands. you can see (and i have) the most horrible toes on the most wonderful shoes. I hace a pomice stone in my shower so everytime i shower i scrub my feet. I dont have major problems with my hands except when im really busy at school and i have to sew a lot, then the pinning and stuff really mess my nails. i also keep them short and NEVER under any circumstance i bite my nails, ever! i take my time once a week to paint them in a dark red or black shade to make contrast with my skin and thats about it. i think these little details always make you look better without passing hours infront of the mirror, also wearing a little touch of perfume makes you feel better so you carry yourself better.

I wish I could afford to have regular manicures/pedicures. It does make you feel better.

I do my own manicures ... I have a hard time finding people who know how to take care of natural nails, plus I don't like taking prime weekend time away from other stuff. I like to do manicures late at night  Pedicures are worth going because you need them much less often. I think taking my own polish works out well.

actually ive never been to a mani-pedi salon, ive always do it at home. i prefer to spend on clothes or accesories rather than having someone doing my manicure for me. if you do it on a regular basis its easier. plus i cant a foord going to a nail salon every week and most important, i know about people having infections after getting a pedicure from "professionals"

Its the cuticles I can't get right at home. I like having them chopped off at the beauticians! I can only push them back when I do it and becauce of my job they get really dry and they look awful.

I do my own manicure as well, but i get a perdicure every two weeks, not for the sake of beautifuly painted toes but because i need it to keep my feet healthy.
Now that i think about it, i do take a lot to "get ready". And by "get ready" i mean what i do to keep my hair, my skin, my face looking good. I get my hair done at the salon every once in a while, but most of the times i do it myself. As i don't wear my hair naturally, it's been a habit that i had to adquire by choice. I'm a hair-freak, so perfect hair is a huge deal for me  I seriously can get in the worse mood just because i don't like how my hair looks!
It takes me about 30 minutes to get ready, which isn't that much, imo. That's when i already know what i'm gonna wear, because when i can't find anything to wear... that's a different story :innocent:

i'm not into perfection :P

but i expect perfection when it comes to cleanliness & hygiene of my physical self as well as all my possessions and surroundings;

my body and my skin/hair (they can't possibly be perfect but i like them healthy and pleasing to my eyes); i rid unsightly hair and i keep my nails short, neat and healthy and that about covers it

no manicure or pedicures at salons, i go to the hairdressers' only when i need a trim, i have never gone to the salon just to get my hair washed and blown out

I spend more money on grooming products, healthy food and exercise than I spend on clothes. Good skin and a nice haircut can make a bigger difference to one's look than a new dress.

I cut my hair and the hair of my friends (it is a hobby, not my job), I do my manicures and pedicures, I even fixed my hair and I did my makeup for my wedding and nobody complained about that.
I create my own dresses. My grandma used to be my tailor. Now, it is somebody else, since she is no longer here.
I take care of my hair with olive oil, castor oil and egg yolks masks.
I have many unexpensive mosturizers that I combine with vitamins and use them. I use olive oil as a night cream for my eyes.
I like to wear foundation and lipstick. I have just discovered Mat Lumiere from Chanel, it is great for me.
I wear my hair very natural. Maybe a little hairspray sometimes for it to stay put.

ehh, I think it depends. I like to wear my hair in an unruly fashion, as is kind of wavy and a bit hippy-ish. I think it's just about achieving what you feel is a perfection for you, and the confidence from that is better than nice nails.

I think over time though you just develop your own routine. I only like getting my hair cut by my hair stylist in London and since I haven't been there in like 5 months and he's hard to get into, well my hair hasn't been cut since then. When people cut it here they just butcher it, I'd rather wait. But because of the style, and the fact that I don't have a straight iron, I french braid it after I wash it to get loose waves. Blow drying for whatever reason just makes my hair really flat and limp so I try and avoid doing it at home. I do the whole skincare and flossing thing at night so in the morning I can just splash my face with water, moisturize, put on sunscreen, 5 minutes for makeup (i'm into a natural look at the moment), take out my braid, fluff, and go. This for me is my ideal and I feel i've achieved my own beauty 'perfection', or the one I'm into at the moment, when I do it so...

I didn't phrase that properly...I meant more "dirty" and "unclean" rather than waves, etc. :flower:

I do most things the night before:

I wash and and let me hair air-dry at night, it gives it some nice texture.
I do my own manicures a few times a week, i like colored nail polish so I make sure it's not chipped.
Once in a while I go to a spa for a pedicure, good looking nails are very important i think, if you want to look groomed.
I get my hair trimmed every few months, I think hair is also once of the first things people notice.

As for makeup I just wear basics for work- a little concealer, blush, mascara.

I think if people have a "look", they are less inclined to look messy, but more put together--simply because it takes less effort, bc you know what works.

If I decide to make loads of effort for a boozy night out then it obviously takes more time than just grabbing what im used to wearing.

Any men here get a manicure? Ive never got one but id like to...just to get a professional to cut my nails better than me. Im too scared to walk into a nail place tho cos I dont want to be looked at like I lost my mind.....any idea in central london?! Lol im such a p*ssy!

^ Maybe try scheduling late in the day? I usually make pedicure appts at the last minute & end up with 4 or 5 on Saturday ... usually there's no one else around. (Though where I go massages may still be going ... once a woman showed up with a man, and he looked quite sheepish in the waiting area by himself--it seemed pretty clear she'd dragged him there, poor guy :P)

PS Alternatively, just do it with confidence--blaze in there like, don't all guys do this, and if not, why not?!?!

Perfection is overrated, imo. I mean, it's important to be clean and hygenic, but I can't help but feel kind of sorry for those people who obviously look like it took them hours to get ready.
As for me, I do my hair at night, because if I waited until the morning I would get lazy and I would end up wearing a ponytail everyday. As for makeup, all it takes is a moisturizer, a little concealer, mascara and lip balm and I'm good to go.

Sometimes I'm tempted to dump a bucket of water on them & see if they melt
