It was a nice collection, it looked very expensive but the tailoring seemed to be lacking in certain places. The leather dresses were particularly amazing and so were the shoes. But those finale dresses.... eek! those were not ok and I'm horrified to see which celebrity will try to pull them off.
Save for a few nice pieces here and there, this was an awful collection. Somehow, everything looked like "Gucci on a budget". From the cast to the hair and makeup to the runway to the actual collection, everything looked tired, tacky (not in a good way), heavy and overwrought in parts. It made me sad watching it. Like I was watching a Badgley Mischka show or something.
Well, there were some really great coats, but it wasn't another hit after S/S 2013 from Frida. I think some looks looked too classy and old for Gucci woman...
Awful collection. Really truly awful. There was far too much going on, and all the elements clashed; it was really hard to digest both visually and mentally. So disappointing.
In terms of maximalism, Tom Ford really wins. His show was "over-the-top", but it was edited and most importantly it was tasteful and chic.
I didn't like this. It was heavy and overdone looking.. and the colour palette only emphasised some of the tackiness. Maybe seeing the collection in still pictures instead of motion will help my opinion...
I can't get over how cheap everything looks. those last gowns must be some sort of joke i don't get. the rest is very unflattering (at best) and most of the looks seem like things taken from other designers (lanvin, stella mccartney are the first that come to mind) cheaply re-done and put here and there.
I don't know if it was the fact that I was watching the livestream on a warm train that made me pass out or if it was just how dull the collection was. Unfortunately minimalism didn't work for Frida in this collection, giving up ruffles for hour glass shaped dresses with wide v cuts on the top was not the best substitude. What bugged me is how way too conservatice it was, the boxy jackets layered over date this Gucci girl in a terrible manner, I have not disliked a Gucci collection since F/W 09.10.
There were some great pieces, in theory, the fit of most it was highly unflattering. The black snake's skin pieces were mouth watering good though, the liquid-like satin(?) pieces in looks #41-47 were note worthy too. Not a blow-you-away show, but not a bad one either, in usual Gucci fashion.
