Where is this Tom Ford bollocks everyone keeps talking about? I don't see anything from Tom Ford whatsoever. Did Frida REALLY think that by copying Tom's signature hair and makeup she was gonna somehow revive his work? Because she didn't and she can't. There's a big difference between her and Tom.
For all of you who had the guts to compare this to Tom Ford, think again. Tom Ford had vision. He didn't just make clothes, he created a whole attitude, an attitude that would give women their right to be seductive. He invented a personality that was so desirable and unforgivingly sexy it was just impossible for women to NOT want to be the Tom Ford woman.
This is just a silly-b*tch attempt to reinvent Tom Ford's work, and what a fiasco it is. Frida's basically feeding off Tom Ford's pre-cooked image and persona to create some sad rip-off version of it.
All she's done here is recycle trends from her previous work, added a couple of things here and there and she's off.
I'm glad Im not the only one seeing the Givenchy "influence" here, because it's everywhere, especially those bondage boots. This is what I love about Givenchy and Tisci; anybody who tries to employ Tisci's ideology in their clothes becomes so easily uncovered (as we already saw earlier in New York). Tisci just has that signature personality in his fashion. Frida doesn't.
She needs to come up with something she can be remembered for (if there is anything). She's ridiculously unoriginal and just living off Gucci's history-hype.
BUT Thats being said I don't think it's an ugly collection, in fact it's quite classy and probably flattering. The best thing to come out of Frida in ages, if not ever.
