Gucci S/S 2006 Milan

dont stone me, but i find this it's clean a departure from Ford's style..
since i never liked Ford's style, i honestly dont find this too dreadful..
i've seen much worse during the ss06 fashion weeks

its true there is no 'theme' apart from the bare boobs 'neckline', true that it looks both DVF and Cacharel (for the granny prints) -not sure about the Rochas connection, kindly post a pic- but i admit liking some of the long dresses and i really like her choice of green.

to me, it's still 'sexy' but not in the usual 'on your face' attitude, i find this a bit more refined than usual.

apart the above, Gucci is certainly NOT my fave Milano collection by far ..

thanks for the topic and the pictures posted :flower:

I agree with Mr-Dale. I mean, no, it's not brilliant by any means, but I I think it's pleasant to look at.

I'm a tad confused. Is it me or has Gucci ripped off or made references to like 10 different designers? I think this is a cry for help.

Yes I can see them now and wow, Marina has the smallest head ever

omg what happened to gucci? so who's designing it now?

i like these a lot actuallly. but all in all, i think its  . i understand that a luxury house needs to change, esp when such a prominent designer leaves, but someting about it seems cheaper than when tom or even the other women did it

For what it is,

I like it

a lot.

But it doesn't look AT ALL like a gucci collection? Where's the sex/heavy eyeliner? :p

the catwalk light & set reminds me of Lanvin?

Wow, not one original thing in there. Mixed prints from Vuitton s/s 05 (or any Marc by Marc collection for that matter) Long, fluted dresses direct from Rochas, preppy daywear from Michael Kors, wrap dresses courtesy of DVF, clunky heeled sandals from Prada (although those were the only things I liked)

Have I missed anything? I still don't understand whos idea it was to give responsiblity of designing a ready to wear collection to someone who doesn't know anything about clothing design. The designs themselves look simple and boring like something right out of NY fashion week, hardly the workmanship that Gucci has become known for.

As Meg has already said, Giannini should stick to accessories if even that (because honestly I don't think she's so great at that either)

I guess I am not getting warm with the collection in it´s entirety, but I actually find some of the floral prints (blue flowers printed on black crêpe) surprisingly nice, considering that I normally detest the literal use of flowers in fashion!

i think you are right lena.

.. obviously that green dress is a rochas rip-off but i see a lot of vuitton s/s05 in this collection. hm.

Ohhh that is "MI TOCAYA" looks very diferent remind me Louis Vuitton Spring 2005 specially the red print fabric and the hair, but looks very nice i love the long chifon flower print dresses its divine...

^ Yes Mettchen, Vuitton is definitly the first thing that came to mind when I was looking through. All of the colorful, clashing printed looks are very LV s/s 05.

don't really like most of what I've seen, cept maybe the designer's outfit and green one shlder dress. agree with the rochas and LV references.

I keep seeing these "rugby" tees, you know with the stripes. Ashish did them in sequins and I think some other designers only I can't remember right now. Luella maybe?

This season the shoes looks horrible that COCODRILO plataforms are so awfull...

that Gucci collection doesn't remind the OLD Gucci at all .. Too bad, too bad... It's so NOT Gucci style....

uh.. and by the way... All in all.. Tom Ford was way better....

Though its not true to the "Gucci phase", and I feel that Alessandra Facchinettis two collections were so much better, still I felt that this collections by Frida was ok in its own right taken at face value.

Taken as a whole, with Gucci in the picture, it does feel alittle odd, and out of place.

But we all know that it will take a few seasons for her to smooth herself out.
