Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows *Warning - Thread WILL Contain Spoilers*

Have to echo the sentiment that it would of been too sad for her to kill Arthur.. I too hoped that Luna had an happy ending, I was kind of rooting for Harry and Luna partnership.

My favourite parts were where you realise that it was Snape who sent the doe patronus and also the whole bit about Snape actually being an amazing person, with his love for Lily and him being faithful to the Order and Dumbledore. I really, really dislike Dumbledore now though, all the respect I had for him before from the past 6 books is gone

The BEST part, the most emotional (yes I cried a lot) and the part I HOPE and pray is in the movie is where Harry is walking to the forbidden forest and he gets the snitch out and understands the description of 'I open and the Close' and he whispers to it 'I am about to die' and the snitch opens....that was so moving and just...made me upset and shaky

I agree with the bit about Snape, I had a strong feeling he wasn't going to be bad, but its quite a bit into book 7 before we get to know the truth - and I loved that one of the kids took the name Severus.

Oh my god

Imagine if it had been Albus Severes Sirius Potter

Then, it would be a true *** Potter

Oh geez. Still better than Scorpius.

^ Actually I think that wouldve been a great name! I'm surprised she didnt pick up on the pun

Scorpius!! A true Malfoy name if ever there were one. I cannot wait until the film version of this comes out I really hope its long so they can fit most things in, even the tiny insignificant things that make it so good

An encyclopedia! Yes!!!! Just what I wanted! I can't wait for it to come out already!

^ I think we'll have to wait a few years though, she said shes only got some rough notes and that shes going to start it later :(

It's so strange it ended, hard to belive that won't be a new one, though I'm so happy to hear about that encyclopedia.

And about the book, I didn't expect an ending like this. I was almost sure Harry will die and I expected a very tragic ending.

I didn't like the epilogue, though it was cute, everyone happy with their family, but i think it was a bit childish ending after the whole book.

The part when Harry went to die was simply amasing. And when Harry asked "does dying hurt"
And finally I've cloud realise how incredible character Snape was...
It was so great to see how Neville changed too, but he should have fight with Bellatrix.

The most tragic death for me was Lupin's and Tonk's... their son left alone!

I missed Ginny in this book a bit, I've thought she'll have more role.:( There was almost nothing about her in the middle of the book, and I expected she'll have a talk with Harry after the war. Maybe JKR thought it would be too romantic?

And I want to know more about Draco, I want to look in his head. I think in the 6th book JKR showed he isn't justa Slytherin idiot and he's got feelings and fears, but he seemed to be an idiot when his life was seved two times... But i liked him the epilogue when he just nodded to Harry and the others. It was great to see they're not fighting any more... well they've grew up.

^ Youve made some good points, I'd love to know more about what Draco was thinking too. I really disliked the epilogue it did seem very childish and I felt unworthy after everything that happened, it was very disappointing for me.

Snape, amazing! I love him so much and Dumbledore I cant stand anymore!

IMO I think Harry shouldve died in the end

Harry should have died  Stayed dead, I mean

If she had killed off Harry, she would have elevated the books to another level.

Lacroix, why can't you stand Dumbledore now? :flower: I liked the fact that he is human, that he has flaws and makes mistakes.

^ I know, I just think it wouldve made more sense if he'd died, more of a finality and it would make sense. He'd be with Sirius and his parents and Dobby and Fred...for all those people who died for him it would be like he was dying for everyone else (like Ron, Hermione etc I know this makes NO sense but it does in my head)

I guess I dislike Dumbledore because all along I thought he was there to protect Harry and to save him but it was as though he was using him and stringing him along. I felt sick when I thought of the DA and when Harry had said he was Dumbledores man through & through because I didnt think he deserved such honour. I thought the way he treated Snape was disgusting,

It makes perfect sense to me. Everybody made such a sacrifice for him and the favor should be returned in a way. This isn't just a matter of...let's say...parents sacrificing time and money. People died to save him, I know Harry did save everybody else by killing ("killing") Voldemort but I felt a happier ending would have been rejoining his parents and his Sirius in the afterworld.

I see what you mean about Dumbledore....but this is the way I see it, he has to think about the greater good. One life to save everybody else's....it's not a hard decision to make. One thing is certain, Hermione is right. Dumbledore did love Harry and I think he felt terrible about what he was doing but had no other choice.

^ Thats what I was confused about; Dumbledore loving him. I thought he did from books 1-6 and then it was like, how you said killing one for the greater good, but he knew and was attached to Harry how could he let it happen? I remember Snape saying something like Dumbledore was waiting until Harry would finally be 'slaughtered' and thats what it seemed like to me too. I don't know, I think I rushed the book I really need to re-read it soon but did Dumbledore know that when harry 'died' he'd have a chance to go back? That wasnt really death though was it so...urghh confused!

I think Harry being reunited with them wouldve been touching and amazing thats what I initially thought the plot would be like. I really still cant get over the Snape twist, so brilliant.

Sacrificing one life for the fate of the wizarding world isn't a hard choice to make. As much as Dumbledore loved harry, I don't think he had any alternate choice.

^ I know thats true but still! I cant help these silly things my brain tell me

 It's okay. We always imagine Dumbledore as completely good and selfless that it's hard imagining him hiding his motives.

Dumbly is my fave character.

It was hard for him to 'slaughter' Harry but there was no alternative. It's Harry or the entire wizarding world gets taken over by Voldemort.

And that's probably the reason why Dumbledore was so glad to hear, in Goblet of Fire, that Voldemort used Harry's blood. He knew that it meant Harry would stay alive.

As for SNAPE. Come one people! Just because he was in love with Lily Potter doesn't turn him into the uber-hero of the series.

I still think he's an @ss.
