Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows *Warning - Thread WILL Contain Spoilers*

He is an *** but no doubt, most girls (including me) would melt over an unrequited love :p

And great point about Dumbledore, never thought about it that way!

:hardhead:And that's probably the reason why Dumbledore was so glad to hear, in Goblet of Fire, that Voldemort used Harry's blood. He knew that it meant Harry would stay alive..

I understood this completely when i read this chapter earlier today, but now i don't :hardhead:. Could anyone explain again?

Dumbly is my fave character.

It was hard for him to 'slaughter' Harry but there was no alternative. It's Harry or the entire wizarding world gets taken over by Voldemort.

And that's probably the reason why Dumbledore was so glad to hear, in Goblet of Fire, that Voldemort used Harry's blood. He knew that it meant Harry would stay alive.

As for SNAPE. Come one people! Just because he was in love with Lily Potter doesn't turn him into the uber-hero of the series.

I still think he's an @ss.

Its not the fact that he was in love with Lily. Its the fact that he took all that crap that happened to him, stayed loyal to Dumbledore; people thought he was a murderer, a death eater, vile and evil and he kept up that pretence for the sake of Harry. Yes, he loved Lily but lily was gone he couldve just given up on her after that but the fact that he stayed true to his word and protected Lilys child- and it was said that he had come to care for Harry shows what an amazing character he was- he too died for Harry along with Sirius etc. Anyway its just an opinion, I never liked Snape before although his antics in the first few books amused me but I actually think he was pretty damn amazing.

^well put! i still think Snape was pretty horrible with how he treated Harry and some of the other students. It seemed like he was making Harry's life harder on purpose.

Though in the end he was a man of his word and actually loved Harry. That was sweet and made me like Snape much more, but I cant get over all the cruel things he has done in the past.

^^I agree, he was really amasing though I didn't like him either before. He stayed at Dumledore's side while everyone thought he's just a snitcher. It must have been so hard to him still stay loyal to Dumledore and help Harry but he did.

And I think too that Dumledore knew Harry won't die, at least he thought it... at his thoughts mostly were right.

Oh yeah, I know what you mean kochie (he was pretty nasty when he wanted to be) but I think that was just J.K trying to throw us of the trail! Made the plot all the better:D

I found this icon on livejournal (ONTD) and it made me laugh so hard

When did snape LOVE harry? He never loved harry.

I read books 3 and 4 and he was quite vile in them.

I understood this completely when i read this chapter earlier today, but now i don't :hardhead:. Could anyone explain again?

Dumbledore knew Harry would survive, before he told Harry about his horcrux mission.

When Voldemort took Harry's blood to revive himself in Book 4, the blood included the magical protection Lily Potter bestowed on Harry. So as long as Voldemort's alive, Harry's blood lives in him and Harry Potter cannot die.

I'm guessing this means no matter how many times voldemort 'avadas' Harry, harry's always going to be able to come back to life.

Who said Snape loved Harry?

Also what does reading books 3 & 4 have to do with it? Its an opinion, my opinion and I'm not going to change it,

"But this is touching, Severus," said Dumbledore seriously. "Have you grown to care for the boy, after all."
"For him?" shouted Snape. "Expecto Patronum!"
From the tip of his wand burst the silver doe: She landed on the office floor, bounded once across the office, and soared out of the window. Dumbledore watched her fly away, and as her silvery glow faded he turned back to Snape, and his eyes were full of tears.
"After all this time?"
"Always," said Snape

I knew this meant that Snape cared for Lilly but I also took it as he cared for Harry

^ No, no I agree. Thats my point I think he did care for Harry thats what I said but the post above me was saying that she didnt think so.

Oh but I love that quote you posted. It speaks volumes its one of my favourite parts. I also love this bit (I'm obsessed with, I keep going on!)

'It was not, after all, so easy to die. Every second he breathed, the smell of grass...was so precious: to think that people had years and years, time to waste...he was clinging to every second. The long game had ended, the Snitch had been caught...

The Snitch. His nerveless fingers fumbled for a moment with the pouch at his neck and he pulled it out:

I Open At The Close

Breathing fast and hard he stared down at it...understanding was coming so fast. This was the close. This was the moment.
He pressed the golden metal to his lips and whispered "I am about to die"'

Snape was a bitter man. He loved Lily. Harry was a reminder of everything he never had with Lily and EVERYTHING James, his enemy, had with the love of his life. I do not condone rudeness or blatant meaness, but that's got to be a lot to swallow and seeing as he felt it was his duty to ensure Harry's survival, the man was at constant odds with himself. He is definitely brave. A weaker soul would've returned to Voldemort & Co.. He would've atleast received praise seeing as he was the most intelligent and clever Death Eater.

I do not understand the backlash against Dumbledore. He loved Harry, through and through. Yes, his decision to sacrifice Harry for the greater good may spell deception to many BUT Harry, himself, was prepared to and did sacrifice himself for the wizarding world. Voldemort using his blood in the 4th book was more than likely an indirect reward for Harry's constant selflessness and determination to take action, especially for those he loved.

I would not have liked to see Hermoine end up with either Harry or Ron. Harry and Hermoine, though their friendship and love for e/o was lovely and endearing, shared a platonic bond, imo. Ron is a tactless, selfish and greedy prat. I feel Hermoine could have done better. The build-up to their inevitable romance was entertaining and slightly cute on a purely surface level, though.

Harry and Luna would have made an amazing couple. I am convinced. Luna, it seems, understood Harry @ the very core of his being. Their whole relationship was free of pretense. I loved when Harry saw what Luna had done to the ceiling of her room. Luna was always so pure and sincere. Also, when Harry thought of her while he was conjuring a patronus.

Ginny and Harry's relationship was so hollow. Ginny never offended me but I've always found her to be pigheaded and slightly rude. I don't think her spirit, unlike Harry's or Luna's, was of the benign variety.

i got goosebumps

^^ I loved that passage as well. The concept is a little trite, but for some reason it really affected me.

I  this thread!

Do you guys think there was any chance of Lily ending up with Snape?

Hear hear!

i'm going to side with those who say that snape didn't love harry. i think the quote kochie332 shows snape didn't love harry, but lily alone. that's all i'm gonna say. :ninja:

Karma! I also agree with the rest of your post, but particularly this portion ;)

Lacroix - that was such a stunning passage for me as well

why?

Luna's a little too oddball for Harry.

i dont think snape loved harry either, but i think that the passage shows that he did in fact care for harry in the end because of that love for lily
