Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows *Warning - Thread WILL Contain Spoilers*

My mum fancys Alan Rickman so much!
It is quite disturbing actually lol!

I love Rupert Grint (Ron) I find him quite attractive  Can't believe I said that...

^ haha don't be ashamed, Rupert is quite nice:brows:

I am so tired of JKR saying the stuff that happens after the seventh book. All this info she has gave out so far could make another damn story! I wish she would have just let us decide what happened to the characters and not written that ******** epilogue and not let that dumb Harry marry that cornball Ginny and have them name one of their kids Albus Severus!

Yes, I know! I hate it, she should just let us speculate instead of stating what happened for sure, it ruins the images I had. 'Cornball'

I think Gary Oldman was quite a good Sirius but whilst I think hes good looking I don't find him swoon-worthy which is what the book says, I imagined a really handsome, gorgeous person.

Does anyone have a picture of the boy who played young Sirius in OOTP?

here you go Lacroix, his name is James Walters.

I found this short interview, credit goes to harrypottefanzone.com

HPFZ: Have you met with any of the other Harry Potter cast members?

James: I actually met Robbie Jarvis who's playing young James in the 2nd round and also James Utchen who plays young Lupin. I met Dan briefly who was fantastic, really hospitable and also briefly met Tom Felton as well. Then during our quick screen test after costume fitting I met Emma Thompson, Imelda Staunton and David Bradley who plays Filch. They were really nice.

HPFZ: Have you begun filming as young Sirius Black yet? If so, how do you think you did?

James: Our scene is being filmed in July as the production is in the middle of a one month hiatus currently so we can finish our exams but we did have a screen test in costume with some other actors, which gave us a great insight into what the procedure will be like. I'm really looking forward to it

Better picture (a promo pic, apparently):

He's kinda ok looking there, I guess. Still not as hot as young Sirius should be :(

^ Not a good Sirius (appearance wise at all).

Alec Hopkins who played young Snape was far better ironically

Well said, JeanAvril. :flower:

I told her that Voldemort dies! And it looks like he does!

:ninja:

You don't need to feel bad about that--that was a given. No way could the series end without that happening ...

I finished late last night, and I have to say, I was impressed. I had not been impressed with the plotting of the last one--now I have to go back & read it again & see if I still think that.

Plus ... maybe you guys can tell me ... why was Malfoy the master of the Elder Wand? That's the key point that has me confused as I can't remember any of the details of the last book ... :innocent:

I think Dobby's death was very well done. That one of the only really close-to-tears moments for me.

Harry should have died. I don't like how he just sprang back to life...

McGonagall proved once again why she is one of the best character in the series. And the Mrs. Weasley/Bellatrix fight was nice to see.

As for the epilogue, it was too fairy-tale like, and it could have given some more pertinent information than just some lazy "nineteen years later..." fanfiction. (But can you imagine if Luna was in that scene, telling her child to watch out for gnarls are something!? It'd be ten times better.)

Now *that* is a great idea :flower:

It was so damn confusing  My brother sat me down and drew me some sort of diagram

I think it goes like this (though I'm not brilliant at understanding this portion of the story)

Gregorovitch had the wand but it was stolen by Grindelwald. Dumbledore defeated Grindelwald and thereby obtaining the Elderwand. Decades later, Malfoy disarmes Dumbledore at the top of the tower, making him the rightful owner. However, Dumbledore was buried with the wand so Malfoy didn't really own the wand though he was the rightful owner.

Here is when it gets a bit confusing for me.

Harry disarms Draco at Malfoy Manner. Since Draco was the last rightful owner of the Elder wand, Harry (who disarms) him is now the new owner.

Voldemort decides to take the Elder wand from Dumbledore's grave but he doesn't understand that just to take doesn't make him the rightful owner because it wasn't obtained the proper way (through defeat or disarming, etc). During the final battle against Harry, he doesn't understand that Harry is the rightful owner and uses the Killing Curse.

Since the elder wand does not turn against it's master (Harry), Voldemort's curse rebounds.

I may be wrong on a few parts but the basic gist is there

So Gregorovitch -> Grindelwald -> Dumbledore -> Draco Malfoy - > Harry Potter

^TGA gave a good explanation a few pages back :flower: I was a bit confused too, had to read quite a few parts of the novel over again.

I've forgotten many details of the book already too. I have a question: did the book even describe Lupin and Tonks' deaths? I only realized they were dead when it started talking about their bodies. Did I miss a page or two?!

No it didn't...which I think was really disappointing

Still, I wanted Sirious to be extremely handsome. They should allow us to choose, really.

Thank you so much :flower:

Nope, that was all there was--that's why all the complaints. It's almost like she got a comment from her editor--"All this slaughter and hardly anyone we know dies???" And she added a sentence with those two additional deaths.

I agree that Lupin's behavior was odd as he had always seemed like one of the most mature characters to me. It is true, though, that impending fatherhood really freaks a lot of men out.

And I guess I should admit that I wasn't bothered by the epilogue. I like to get the "facts" on how things turn out, and I am never against a happy ending in fiction. Hey, I'm in favor of them in real life too. So shoot me :p ;)

I agree that the quality of the writing has declined since the beginning. I've seen worse declines with other writers. First novels are often the best or among the best because of all the opportunities for polishing. One reason why Jane Austen is so good--she polished & polished, I think it was only a novel or two published in her own lifetime.

And about the Elder wand: I thought it was supposed to be undefeatable. It made sense a couple of days ago, but it just doesn't anymore...?

Not sure what's not making sense ... but it came down to the key point of who has mastery of the wand. It also seemed like you were always better off with your own wand. I guess really the legend surrounding this want was necessary to the plot, to get Voldemort to discard his own wand in favor of one he wasn't the master of ...

did they say why Voldemort and Harry had the same wand (at the beginning Harry buys hin first wand with a Phoenix feather)?

^ It was implied. Because Harry was the seven Horcrux and a part of Voldemort's soul was inside him, and it connected with the twin wand. The wand must have connected with Harry also, because he's really fond of it even after his soul is made entirely his [Harry's].

But I didn't quite understand how people were able do win the wand, if it was supposed to be the best in every duel. Am I making sense?

No to Gary Oldman.

He looks...raggedy. Sirius is suppose to be SUAVE. SUAVE damnit!

It's the most powerful wand in existence, but NOT undefeatable.
