High Heels With Socks

Does the heels have to be at a certain length to look good? How about flat round toe shoes? Or a one inch chunky heel?

This look is on for a quite a long time but for me will always be in style! Love it big time and I wear it!

One favorite of mine; I like a sort of Glam-rock slant of striped socks with my ankle-strapped wedge/platforms. But with the Manolos, not so much. The lace topped is definitely cute, but I'd feel totally childporn in them. I remembert wearing that in the late 80s, though and it felt so fun. I say do that kind of thing while you're young!

I'd like to say though - I do wish it was easier to find socks without tight bands! I hate that dent when you remove them. And my ankles are relatively thin. I usually cut it off.

Emery mentioned this as a trend of the 1930s. Just wondering, are you talking about the early 1940s when the war made nylons all but unavailable, or is there an earlier trend of which I am not aware? My mother and father were married at that time she rocks that look hard in all her old photos. I was always digging them when I wasn't stealing my sister's Seventeen mags featuring Twiggy or Mary Quant!

this look is kinda hard to pull off
but if it's done well, i think it's really cute.

It seems as if people are bashing this trend simply because it's "trendy". The idea of socks or stockings under shoes with heels isn't so repulsive, and there are many different options and combinations if you don't like it a certain way. I think it's adorable when done tastefully, since it is a bit difficult to "pull off". I've seen it done with knee-high socks for a more schoolgirlish look.

You need fabulous calves and ankles to pull this look off which is rare these days. That's why I only see this trend on superior looking models in magazines instead of where I live.

I think I like this. I have these bright yellow Frye peep toe T-straps and I want to try to wear socks with. Maybe a dress and....off white socks? I don't know.

I loved this on a runway I saw last fall. It was black slouchy socks with a beige, open toe heel. Arden Wohl has also pulled it off quite nicely.

There's no problem here with this (unless the socks and high heels are a total mismatch when put together). There was a Victoria's Secret model I seen in a catalog wearing cropped pants, these gold high-heel sandals, and... I want to say magenta ankle-length socks. This is a good style to try out. Just be sure there's a good style of ankle-length socks you can use to somewhat offset the high-heel shoes and perhaps even the bottoms as well. Cropped pants to go with the combination of ankle-length socks and high heels. I'd probably go with a cute pair of high-heel pumps paired with a good color of ankle socks. You could try to match the shoe color with the socks for somewhat of a silhouette effect. However, more daring types would try pairing a good pair of ankle socks of one color to match whatever high-heeled shoe they are wearing.

My only uncertainty is wearing high-heel sandals with ankle socks. Peep-toes and open-toes are somewhat okay, but I'd have my doubts with sandals. Always preferred stockings to be paired with sandals. This even includes peep-toe pumps. Uncertainties aside, experiment to your heart's content.

i think it can be done haha
but the way charlotte ronson did it for s/s 09
i was like omg gross
they looked like strippers feet!

but there was this page in teen vogue and
the girl wore these thick grey wool ancle socks
with these patten black leather t-strap heels
(i think they were from one of marc jacobs fall collection
the heel with the up-turened toe-very cute)
but anyways it looked really cute

Socks and Heels

I can't find a thread on this in tfs.... I believe it's an old 50's trend, and people have been wearing "over the knee" socks on the street for a while - but I believe shorter socks and heels are coming back into street fashion!

I love this style!

Some people look so fantastic doing this look! I really need to try it. :)

^I want to try this too but my country is very conservative about fashion.-_-

:flower: I agree for the most part. I rather like it then not- again if done nicely with a good sense of style.

Booties and socks - yay
Pumps and socks - can be cute
Sandals and socks - kitsch

Indeed! If anything trends put me off:yuk: For me, I try this because I just don't like shoes, never have never will. I dont even own warm winter shoes, because I just love my high heeled sandals so much. I've actually been wearing this trend for years now! (..although not so stylishly) but its great that designers found a way to make it look good, and I intend to capitalize on that fact!
