Me too! I would LOVE to have the fur vest! Does anyone know what fur that is? And what does it retail for?

I am worried that they won't get it here in San Fran because it's not PC

eek!! luckyme, that top is truly gorgeous! i think the sleeves must be so lovely on.

thanks for the pictures aby! so much to love, i think i need to pay a visit to zara (thanks for the tip soft!)

Thanks for the thanks and the karma!

I saw someone trying that silk green top Lucky, it's very beautiful indeed.

About the fur vest, I'm pretty sure you could find a vintage fur jacket and just cut the sleeves to achieve this kind of look.

thanks Aby.....i visited the Rue Santonge store a few wks ago....but stock was really low so i didn't get anything. Lovely shop......its really nice around there.

I would kill for a pair of Isabel Marant boots, but there's nowhere near me that sells any IM, and I'd have no idea what size to order. They're gorgeous, though! Relaxed style, but still classic.

And speaking of IM knock-offs...the Gap has some pieces right now which have a definite IM-feel.

There's the plaid dress (which I bought today)...

And the skirt, of which several tFS members bought the original (the Gap picture does not do it justice in real life).

thanks hebden- that's a cute dress you got! so does the skirt look better or worse in real life? I noticed there were a lot of things at the gap that looked a bit isabel marant-ish. zara especially though- i got a really cute dress that has a neckline similar to a heimstone dress from last fall, and crepey/lineny like material similar to IM. I couldn't pass it up for $69.

Thanks! The skirt looks much better in real life...not on me you understand ...but much better in real life.

Haha- ok thanks! I just got a look at the back though (on their website), and I'd prefer if it was full/gathered all the way around, but I'll check it out next time I'm in there anyway. Looks like they have some cute leather pieces too- they have a collar-less jacket similar to the one IM has done for a few seasons... but it's only available in a mustardy tan colour.

great stuff hebden! i really like the plaid dress...they're selling a similar sort of thing in an aussie shop here called Sportsgirl but it's completely overpriced for what it is imo. i think they're retailing for $120....and this is a store that isn't particularly great quality. i find it so amazing that chain stores like Gap, h&m, sportsgirl etc are looking to brands like isabel marant for inspiration (if that's even the right word. :p)...especially here in Australia....i never would have thought that they were tapping in to relatively 'unknown' (here in Sydney, i mean) french labels...

I scanned this ad from Vogue/September. on the runway I couldn't see that these trousers were a skirt combo. interesting, perhaps a little difficult to wear but the styling is phenomenal.

that ad is BEAUTIFUL...
thanks for scanning it lucky!...

:woot:..

yeah- i was babbling earlier in the thread about how the fall gap collection looks SO much like IM...
*or maybe i was babbling about it in the gap thread?!?......

...
in any case..i totally agree and it's been bugging me since the big article about him that was in Vogue awhile back where they showed all these pieces...
that dress and skirt are the major offenders imo...

i just thought that the point of hiring patrick robinson was that he was going to DESIGN some things...
not COPY some...:innocent:...

I am totally annoyed by this. I bought the blue/green checkered dress from Isabel Marant last year (can't actually remember which season) and now I can't wear it anymore obviously.......

I'm confused, didn't you purchase it because you liked it?

Why not? Because it's similar to Gap?

Well yes. When trends arrive to the Gap, to Zara, H&M etc then everyone has them and the dresses are not special or unique anymore. Sure you can accessorize, but it's not the same.

You shouldn't let that discourage you. For one thing, the pieces from Gap, H&M, etc, are of a visibly lower quality than authentic Isabel Marant. Not to mention, chances are you will look ten times better wearing your dress than someone wearing an inexpensive, lower quality version based on the same idea. I think it's all about how you carry yourself in it.
