ooohhh..pics.....
that's interesting laika...
i always feel like the french are not afraid of tight...
or short!...look at carine roitfeld...
but they aren't afraid of long or volume either..
they are all very individualistic, no?
not so trendy imo...

i have to confess...
i would love to just sit on a park bench for a weekend in paris and people watch right now...
it's the perfect time of year...with the seasons changing...

hope you had good weather!....:flower:

*sorry juliet...:P
i'm just trying to have some self control at the moment...
it's not easy...plus i know the sales are coming as well...
:innocent:

thanks for sharing laika, did you happen to take any street style pictures? I'd love to see examples. And I can't wait to see pictures of your new items!

sounds great laika..

i feel really silly admitting this..
but i had a dream last night...i was in paris..
sitting in a cafe...and i suddenly thought 'laika is in paris shopping for isabel marant...'

then i thought 'oh i must get in touch with her...both of us in paris here like this...'
and off i went....until we ran into each other at a market...
that was the end of the dream....

isnt it bizarre the way you can dream of someone when you dont know what they look like?....

i hope you're not crepped out by that laika....:innocent:

cant wait for your pics...:flower:

^ lol, that's a cute dream adore! You seem like you belong in Paris, no wonder you were dreaming about it. And it is interesting how the mind can know someone in spirit without ever having any face to face interaction!

I just saw my Etoile dress on shopjumelle for $336 full price still available in my size ... that's nearly $100 cheaper than what I paid!! I guess since the SF boutique is the only Isabel Marant stockist in the city, they can get away with it ... sometimes online browsing makes me depressed.

don't be depressed...
buy a heimstone dress to cheer yourself up..did you see those things!......

ok- i have a new obsession...
:innocent:...

gah, so frustrated...stupid computer still won't let me upload my bloody pics!

Here is one of the things I got anyway--the nubby top in this picture, but mine fits a bit more snuggly (more flattering on me). Was very pleased this worked out, as this was one of my fave looks from the runway.

^That is gorgeous!!! I can't wait to see it on. It was totally worth it to wait and buy IM in Paris...Now, if stores here would bring pieces like this over ^_^--or if my boyfriend would take me to Paris....

haha...yeah- let's all go to paris!...
adoref has already been this week..

great top laika...looks super cozy!...
can't see the neckline thought...what's it like...?

*so you got your short sleeve grey sweater you were after finally!...

thanks girls....i'm just so aggravated because I took my own pics and can't upload them....I'll try to fix that tomorrow.

soft, the neckline is very simple. Wider than a crew but narrower than a boat...it's her usual neckline, i guess. It's a top rather than a sweater, and it definitely runs narrow in the hip area. I think it's designed that way so that it will bunch up a bit, as it does on the runway. I  it.

adore, how amazing that you had that dream! :woot:

We must have a cosmological connection, as my dreams are also in Paris right now.

yea, let's all go....I know a nice place to stay very near to Le Marais....:innocent:

i hope you get it fixed..
i would love to see your own pics...:flower:
i'm sure i speak for the masses here

it looks like a sweater in that image...what's the fabrication?

laika - I love it! So casual and cool. And I'm beginning to see what you mean by the slimmer silhouette ... it can still look slouchy (not stuffy or tight), which is very appealing. I hope you get your camera fixed, can't wait to see the detailed shots!

softgrey - I saw a lot of cute things on that website, but I'm scared to look too closely ... the last thing I need is to be lusting after more clothes! Maybe planning for spring is safer, since I can't buy anything yet

It's mostly wool, blended with polyamide and mohair...no give at all, that's why I say it's more a top than a sweater...

edit: oh, tourist, I didn't take street pics, unfortunately, but I will post some descriptions in the french style thread, and put a link here when I do so.

laika, I love the whole thing, the necklace is super nice too. she styles her shows in a way the can be captured IRL. I would try a seude skirt over some rolled pants like that too. what a ball you must have had, just observing how people dress in paris, and of course all the good wine and food and history...

I thought the hemistone dresses were also my favorite on the jumelle website.

ok, making a wee bit of progress here....here is the top and a burgundy raw silk skirt that I got, also from Isabel Marant. Had to resort to taking pics in the bathroom again, as it's so gloomy today. :P

more later....

^ omg, so fantastic. the top is adorable and fits you so nicely, and I love the color of the skirt. The silhouette is so good, overall slim but still slouchy and cool. Youthful but not little girl ... you look amazing! And love the hair too  Thanks so much for sharing! btw, what shoes will you be wearing?

I LOVE that skirt. The silhouette is really modern; most skirts that I have found here that have a similar "idea" look totally dowdy and bad school marm. This look is wonderful and easy.
Now-- I just need to find a skirt here like this. It's great.

Thanks so much girls...you are really sweet!

tourist, I think ankle boots like your DVN ones would be ideal, but for now I'll be wearing it will little heels or riding boots. Thanks so much for the hair compliment--I always hate my hair, so it's very, very nice to hear that!

juliet, I know what you mean, that's why I snatched it up! I love the mini that softgrey has, but the length was just strange on me--neither short enough nor long enough.

I really love the look of airy, light skirts with heavy dark stockings and footwear...saw a lot of girls in Paris doing this.

btw, I am wearing the skirt again today...different outfit though...posted a picture in the what are you wearing today thread...

laika i echo everyone else's sentiments here...you look marvelous...

that burgundy colour is so lovely...
and your hair DOES look great...:woot:

you remind me of helena in that picture...she posts here on tfs...
your style might be a bit similar to hers i think...

:flower:...

ps- SO glad your camera is coming to its senses...

oh yay...pretty picture...pretty clothes...pretty girl...
i love burgundy...and burgundy silk is so rich...

the burgundy and grey look so lovely together...
and i think you're right laika...
it does actually look better on you than on the runway...
^_^...

ps- gloomy is right- the weather is downright dismal around here today...:ninja:...

aww, thanks softie, but that's not quite what I meant. It's just that it looks better more fitted on me, as I am so short--the model looks great with the longer, looser fit.

It's really warm and comfy, but I will need some advice on ways to style it, please. I think it might look better if the under layer and the skirt are not contrasting, yes? But you're right, the burgundy and grey are so nice together...

I also got a long sleeved black linen top--has very full, almost pirate-y sleeves, and two slit pockets; and a sleeveless black/white patterned top that has an almost painted texture. I'm pretty sure it's the one in these pics:
