The courtyard was from the Hôtel Particulier (synonym for = MANSION RIGHT IN THE CENTER OF PARIS) in rue de l'Université. It was never 'his', he rented the property.
It was too big for him or so he said, so he moved to the apartment in quai voltaire (which i think he owns, but i could be wrong). That's actually the "space ship place".
He still has the 7, Rue de Lille space (where the bookstore, his private library and photography studio is).
