Rats!! And before I was ever invited to a party at his place...
Of the many New York real estate dreams, procuring a key to the super exclusive (and super lustworthy)
Gramercy Park is pretty high on our list. So it’s no surprise that the man who has it all possesses one of the rare keys, and he’s never even used it. The man in question?
Karl Lagerfeld, of course.
The Kaiser purchased a unit in
Ian Schrager’s
50 Gramercy Park North (adjacent to the
Gramercy Park Hotel) in 2006.
He never lived in the $6.575 million apartment which he allegedly bought as a retirement pad. We can’t imagine Karl will ever retire (nor that he would retire to New York), but that’s neither here nor there.
Now Karl is selling the 6th floor 3-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom residence for
$5.5 million — a million less than what he initially spent. The apartment sounds awesome, complete with floor-to-ceiling windows, views of the park, huge closets and custom bookshelves. And because the apartment is, well, Karl’s apartment, the selling of it is an
event. According to the
Post, a book reading will be held there (the author of said book is the daughter of a former
Chanel exec) and “Chanel also will be doing an ‘installation of images’ in the apartment, and closets will be filled with Chanel bags, shoeboxes and garment bags.”
