one more reason to learn japanese!!
this is a bit like a modern times Rosetta Stone no? you could take any other lengthy karl interview and just deduce that he is talking about his mother, his dentist, zaha hadid, and that time when an old man chased him in the streets because he was wearing short pants... classe!

Rats!! And before I was ever invited to a party at his place... :(

Of the many New York real estate dreams, procuring a key to the super exclusive (and super lustworthy) Gramercy Park is pretty high on our list. So it’s no surprise that the man who has it all possesses one of the rare keys, and he’s never even used it. The man in question? Karl Lagerfeld, of course.
The Kaiser purchased a unit in Ian Schrager’s 50 Gramercy Park North (adjacent to the Gramercy Park Hotel) in 2006. He never lived in the $6.575 million apartment which he allegedly bought as a retirement pad. We can’t imagine Karl will ever retire (nor that he would retire to New York), but that’s neither here nor there.
Now Karl is selling the 6th floor 3-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom residence for $5.5 million — a million less than what he initially spent. The apartment sounds awesome, complete with floor-to-ceiling windows, views of the park, huge closets and custom bookshelves. And because the apartment is, well, Karl’s apartment, the selling of it is an event. According to the Post, a book reading will be held there (the author of said book is the daughter of a former Chanel exec) and “Chanel also will be doing an ‘installation of images’ in the apartment, and closets will be filled with Chanel bags, shoeboxes and garment bags.”

^ Yeah, me too... But then, when the Karl Lagerfeld brand was purchased by the people who own Tommy Hilfiger, and was supposed to be showing in NY each season, and then the mysterious disappearance of said brand- I guess a lot of his NY activities were put aside...

DVR ALERT!! :woot: The entire, and pretty much never seen, Signe Chanel is on Saturday on The Sundance Channel!! B)

^^ I hate that I can't watch Sundance from home sooooo much!!! it's so unfair!!! i so want to watch this yet another time!! i mean... 37 times is NOT enough!!!! seriously

Darn I missed it... are they doing to be showing it again sometime soon?

Now one of the NY real estate sites is saying Karl's apartment is not for sale...details to follow...

Bianca Balti and Karl Lagerfeld attend the 'Percorso Di Lavoro' photography exhibition cocktail party held at Chiostro Del Bramante on February 15, 2011 in Rome, Italy.

VogueUK-

MAJOR fashion players began to comment today, following the shocking events over the last week that led to John Galliano losing his job at Dior. Karl Lagerfeld said he was "furious" about it, adding that LVMH ceo Bernard Arnault - who brought Galliano to Givenchy in 1995 and moved him to Christian Dior the following year - was particularly wounded by the incident.
"I'm furious that it could happen," he told WWD. "Because the question is no longer even whether he really said it. The image has gone around the world. It's a horrible image for fashion, because they think that every designer and everything in fashion is like this. This is what makes me crazy in that story."
"The thing is, we are a business world where, especially today, with the internet, one has to be more careful than ever, especially if you are a publicly known person," Lagerfeld added. "You cannot go in the street and be drunk - there are things you cannot do. I'm furious with him because of the harm he did to LVMH and [chairman and ceo] Bernard Arnault, who is a friend, and who supported him more than he supported any other designer in his group, because Dior is his favourite label. It's as if he had his child hurt."
Other well-known friends and fans of Galliano are abstaining from comment, at least for now.

Edit: There are reports this morning that John has entered rehab...

Thank you for that Boomer. I was just wondering what Karl's reaction to the whole Galliano mess was. We know Karl is outsopken himself and was curious if he would brush it up, supportive or unsupportive of Galliano. I must say I am very glad, and not one-bit surprised, that he seems so furious at Galliano and backed Bernard Arnault.

I know we all have our own thoughts and right to think what we want, but I never really cared for John Galliano as a designer, and much less as a person. It am anxious to see who will be the replacement, as there is plenty of great talented designers out there.

^ You're welcome....I am glad (and not surprised) that Karl has spoken out, it seems like a lot of the fashion industry had clammed up for some reason...:( I have always kind of thought that a good deal of Karl's falling out with Yves had to do not with his mental problems, but with how he just fell off a cliff with his crazy 'lifestyle' and behavior...So sad to see how the endless demands and pressures can destroy such talented people...

How does Karl keep it together? Has he ever had any public breakdowns?

^no, do you really see a need for him to do so?

I agree with Karl's statement, there are things famous designers cannot do.

you know there's a karl quote for every situation. in this case they are from the documentary "the day before Fendi"

1 for sethii:
"I've got the mentality of a professional killer. I have no human feelings"

1 for boomer:
"it's ok to think of the most indecent things in life. you should just not say them"

yes yes, indeed. am a karl-freak! B)

(another good one on breaking down was his answer to an interviewer who asked if he ever cries. To which only Karl could answer: "When I get soap on my eyes... yes" )

Sunday, August 1st 2010 Lock Up The Town Virgins!

kuntykarlinsttropez.jpg

St. Tropez better declare a CODE ANTOINE DODSON (Hint: Lock up errbody!), because Kunty Karl has landed and he can't wait to slurp up a drop of local non-fat virgin blood off his Chanel coke spoon. Don't worry, Kanty Karl will force one of his slaves to throw themselves over his body so he won't risk staining his pristine white jacket with mortal blood.

Speaking of Karl's slaves, why isn't one of them carrying his zombie clutch for him? Karl's hand bones are much too fragile for him to carry his own clutch. Karl better punish them later by making them moisturize his culo lips with the tears of his victims.

Here's more pictures of Kunty Karl struttin' that as* through St. Tropez yesterday. If Dr. Claw got a job as a maître d’ at a fancy gay vampire lounge, he would look just like Karl!
