^ To my mind, no one person will ever be able to do what he does anyway- all the different items he designs and the shows and ads and so on...Of course he has a staff working with him, but Karl is unique within the industry; Tom Ford is the only one who comes to mind that does even half what Karl does, and he seemed pretty much ready for a nervous breakdown at one point.... B)

^Very true! Karl probably needs 10 people to replace him at Chanel alone once he's gone. But no one's quite the genius he is anyway.
Still, since Haider Ackermann is my favorite designer I'd rather have him take over Chanel someday and do something nice with it than someone else.

And, of course, we are taking it for granted her will be gone someday...Some vampires are hundreds of years old...just saying...

Why he would ever think of Lilo in regard to Kate I can't imagine...

Lagerfeld Calls Dress "Elegant & Chic"

By Carrie Gorman | Posted: Fri 29 Apr 2011

Karl Lagerfeld approved of Kate Middleton's royal wedding dress, describing the Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen gown as "elegant and chic".
Speaking on the ceremony for French television, Lagerfeld compared the dress to Diana’s: "It's a bridal gown of very refined detail, much more refined than the one Diana wore."
"Alexander McQueen's dresses are always very elegant. It's very pretty, and relatively classic, but that goes with the decor, with a little touch of the 1950s that recalls Marilyn Monroe or Queen Elizabeth II's dress.
"The lace is pretty, especially the embroidered veil and the tiara not too high, without too heavy a bun. It's ravishing and the length of the train is perfect," he continued.
"It's all elegant and chic — you don't need to be born a royal princess to be like that," he declared.
He then went on to compare Catherine to Lindsay Lohan, but in a good way apparently; "Kate is a young, modern woman. She's a Lindsay Lohan and she wasn't going to miss her moment," he said.
Lagerfeld was tight-lipped about the Queen's canary yellow coat dress and matching hat, and praised her consort the Duke of Edinburgh for wearing his uniform: "Whatever you say, it's better than an ugly suit."
But, if the famous designer was generally enthusiastic about the "magnificent and magical spectacle", he was a little less generous in his views on some of the outfits worn by less famous guests in Westminster Abbey.
Referring to one woman who wore a hat with an enormous brim that obscured her from view, he burst out: "Why, it's the headless woman."
And, upon seeing a guest wearing a coat in a rough fabric that resembled upholstery, he exclaimed: "She's wearing a sofa on her back!"

^^ He was invited to a tv show in france to comment on the wedding as they broadcasted it :)

If you want my biased opinion, Karl should've designed it.
But again, I think karl should design every dress on every woman, I am that mad.

I would've loved a witty bitter comment on 'the Yorks' from him!

"Huh...When Tom Ford said I'll send you a jacket to wear, I took it for granted he wasn't drinking anymore..." B)

i think it's hideous (along with that woman next to her)

 No... Ew. If it was red velvet I'd forgive Karl for trying a Hugh Hefner vibe, but this... almost looks like something Kris van Assche designed (that's an insult, btw). Shame on Tom for allowing this and 2x shame on Karl for even touching it. I'm still having nightmares from the one time he had a gold leather jacket, now I'll need therapy. Is a horrible thing, dated and boxy. What makes things worse, my grandma had a blouse with just that pattern. Oh the horror.

Who is that sticker covered person next to Karl? The one with dress sipping. That be this Blake Lively chick?

So the Cruise Show is Monday, yes?? B)

Karl Lagerfeld anticipates that some viewers might be ‘shocked’ by his latest film for Chanel.

In the trailer for ‘The Tale of a Fairy,’ Freja Beha Erichsen (presumed to be the fairy of the title) clambers over shoreline boulders wearing only a pair of white jeans. She also engages in an amorous smooch with Chanel ambassador Anna Mouglalis.
Emotions run high through the rest of the clip, with steely haired model Kristen McMenamy flinging a cocktail glass, slapping a male companion and risking it all at the roulette table.
‘It is a movie about an ill-advised use of money which begins with violence and ends with feeling,’ Lagerfeld said.
The 30-minute fashion romp also stars Chanel muse Lady Amanda Harlech, Lagerfeld favourite Baptiste Giabiconi and model Brad Koening.
Lagerfeld plans to screen the film after next week’s cruise collection presentation in Cap d’Antibes.

Wow. I am not sure if this has been posted already, and if it has then my apologies. What makes this video so great is that half way through, you can see Karl somewhere in the 70's working on a collection. He must have been in his 40's by then and during his "Mafia" look.

Very cool

I saw him last saturday in Paris! It was pretty exciting considering he´s my favorite designer since I was very young.
