This all depends on what type of movie they are to make. Sure, if we're talking glossy fakey Hollywood production (which are often entertaining or award winning, one of the two but never both) - Daria's your girl. She's as contrived and glossy as it gets. But when it comes to European style movies - I'm talking psychotic Polanski women, lesbian Bergmanettes, suicidal Kaurismäki girls and poisonous Chabrolians, I think Kate would be much much better. These are two schools of acting - the pretentious glossy perfectly groomed Hollywood neurotic and the poetic, slightly indecent European femme fatales.

don't underrate daria... B)
and she's an intellectual beauty, not another victoria's secret girl going to hollywood... the proof? the fact that i like her, modestly... :D

not always ppl flirting with perversion and 'evil' in real life are good when it comes to playing evil roles... on the contrary think of isabelle huppert who's specialised in neurotic roles and she has a very normal-quiet life.

Daria seems to be able to get up to the level of Rene Russo, or perhaps if she's more talented than I think, Lauren Bacall. Both these actresses were very successful models prior to their acting carreers. They all belong to the minutely controlled type of beauty that I don't associate with European actress tradition, where insanity is often lurking just below the surface - for the perceptive to observe.

Isabelle Huppert may be normal and quiet (I don't know) - but why do you think that excludes neuroticism? It's a middle class disease, or so they say, and the middle class is usually busy trying to appear normal to suppress what's going on under the surface.

When I'm assessing Kate's potential as an actress - I'm looking at her movements, mannerisms...they are all consistent with a classic European style actress.

^ well, i have some difficulties to put rene russo and lauren bacall at the same level. i don't know russo very much, but it seems to me that she is just one of the many recent star wanna-bes of hollywood, lauren bacall is a living legend of cinema!
i haven't seen all of her movies, but if i think of her debut, of noir roles and also her melodramatic roles in that movie by sirk, i have the frame of a very intellectual beauty who was in the hollywood star system before the explosion of european-authorial cinema. probably her acting in lars von trier's 'dogville' is just a late hommage to her intellectual side.
so, i think bacall could be a fantastic quite unreachable model for daria and whoever would try acting, while rene russo... ?!?! :flower:

about huppert. yeah, i happened to talk about her severl times. she's married, she has 3 children, she has a very reserved life... probably she vents all her evil side into movies!
about kate, i'd be curious to see her acting. she seems a bit cold actually, but who knows? about daria, i find her incredibly natural in front of the camera, she doesn't even seem a model, that's a good start.

Eh, well, I just brought up two actresses whom Daria vaguely remind me of - I didn't even begin to say they were of equal quality.

Regarding Huppert, people leading reserved life with 3 kids can still be quite disturbed - you really think children are a guarantee for sanity? Just look at Angelina and Joan Crawford - it's a common way to try to cure yourself - but it seldom works to make a person "better" or "kinder".

Daria really seems like a model and she's not very natural in front of the camera - imo. She can't even talk about designers and sound like she means it - pretty much like Rene Russo, again.

 What is she trying to promote? The pants perhaps???

or maybe it's the red paper.........

it's not to promote anything. it is just this 30 second spot for showstudio where the person in it is asked what they want to do. and she said she wanted to "pogo".

i think it's great and superhappy!:flower:

It would've been great if the context was explained.
She's not filming an ad. It's part of the "Moving Fashion Project" of Showstudio. She interprets "Sheena is a punk rocker" ,a Ramones song. As the Ramones were a punk band she decided to pogo. (pogoing is a punk dance where you jump up and down )

Sorry. I got it from ONTD and I thought it said she was filming an ad or something. Although I don't see how knowing that would change the fact that it's funny to watch.

Whatever she was doing she ripped the backdrop and fell on the light!

when was this? that knock on the head seemed pretty brutal and she just laughed it off...
