Madonna to Adopt a baby

You are right Misssakura, by paying for the orphan's education Madonna could have uplifted hundreds of children instead of one - something along the lines of what Oprah is doing in South Africa. In turn the children could help uplift their country, that is provided they don't emigrate to the US or the UK as is the trend now.

She also could've judged the Labadie Pig Gig celebrity rib cook-off in her hometown of Bay City, Michigan, or at least entered the pig-calling contest, if not the dunking chamber, or the kissing booth. They sponsor the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and a couple of Scout Troops, as well as the Salvation Army, the Literacy Council, and a Vietnam Veterans group, among others. Who wouldn't want to see her win the Oink Like A Pig Contest, provided it's all for a good cause?

I hear she has her eye on a little girl there too....
it's like she got the hot new bag and now she wants the matching shoes.:innocent:

According to Forbes magazine, Madonna's net worth in 2003 was $600 million dollars. With six billion people on the planet, Madonna should liquidate her wealth and give us all ten, shiny new pennies, which we will all toss at her head when she's reduced to busking on the subway for money. Perhaps if her new kid has big eyes, dancing ability, or a youth basketball camp he really needs five dollars for, she can place an empty Carl's Jr. cup around he neck and set him begging. Or we might perform a trendy Calcutta beggar body modification on the whole family. Pity! Mercy!

Seriously this hag could buy an African country instead of smuggling just one kid out of there.

$600 million dollars? Damn I wish she would give me some cash.

My mother (who's white) is jealous of Madge cos when I was a baby it wasn't trendy to have 'exotic' children. She told me to say that I've been adopted when people ask now.

600 million sounds like an awful lot when you consider Britney Spears is only worth $150 million....

^ and Britney Spears will use her wealth to lead the 2nd American Revolution started when K-Fed won't pay the new $2.60/pack California cigarette tax. Any African children she adopts are gonna be mercenaries. I've read they've got loads of them to go around from the Congo war.

you really should be ashamed of yourselves. this thread and the comments posted here are disgusting. Madonna has donated a lot of money to the charity in Malawi and she has give a young infant in desperate need of love a good home. He will grow up to have a wonderful life thanks to Madonna and her husband. You dont need to be so cynical about celebrities. they are human too and they have hearts. Madonna is past the usual child baring age and she always said she wanted a large family. adoption is the obvious thing to do. and why not adopt from a very poor country? although it is very sad that there are many children in orphanges in the US and other wester countries the truth is they will be far better cared for by the system than a child from Malawi.

You may not like her music or clothes or whatever but that doesnt mean she is a bad person.

GROW UP!

Father angry at Madonna's critics

The father of the one-year-old boy Madonna is hoping to adopt has hit back at rights groups who are aiming to challenge the singer's plans in court. "Where were these people when David was struggling in the orphanage?" Yohane Banda told the AP news agency.
"These so-called human rights groups should leave my baby alone," he added.
The boy is now in London with Madonna. He will be monitored by Malawian officials over a period of 18 months before the adoption is approved.

Mr Banda said he was forced to give his baby up to the Home of Hope Orphanage in a Malawian village.
His wife died a week after giving birth to David and the couple had two other sons who died in infancy from malaria.
'Kind-hearted'

"I was alone with a baby, I had no money. I couldn't buy him milk. That's why I surrendered him to the orphanage," he said.
"Orphanage life is no good. We leave kids there because we can't look after them properly ourselves. Now my son has been taken by a kind-hearted woman, these people want to bring him back to the orphanage," he added.
The child's grandmother, Asianati Mwale, 56, backed Mr Banda.
"Where were they when I and my son were trying to get someone to look after this child? Do they even know what we have had to go through to save the life of David?," she said.
"We trust that Madonna will look after our child well and he will have a better life," she added.
Malawi's Human Rights Consultative Committee (CHRR), a coalition of about 40 organisations, launched a legal challenge to the adoption on Tuesday.

Residency permit

Earlier this week it said it had deferred the move, saying it wanted to interview an unidentified uncle of David's who was "said to be opposed to the adoption plan".

CHRR believes the government in Malawi has relaxed the usual ban on adoptions by foreigners and a requirement that prospective parents have to stay with the child in Malawi for 18 - 24 months before the adoption is approved.
Chair Justin Dzonzi said it plans to approach the courts next week.
"We will meet the judge sometime next week and proceed with an injunction pending the process of adoption granted to Madonna last week by the High Court," he said.
He said the group was not against the adoption but wanted Malawi's laws adhered to.
"If Madonna really wants the child, she has to apply for a residency permit in Malawi," he said.
But a government official told AP that the laws the group referred to were "archaic".
"These laws date back to the 1940s; things have changed now," said Penston Kilembe, director of the Child Welfare Services in the Ministry of Gender, Child Welfare and Community Services.
"Madonna and her husband have broken no laws as far as the government is concerned. They have followed all the legal steps," he added.

Or, come to think of it, Madonna could use Kabbalah to inspire child mercenaries in the Congo. They could march on path 32, Tav, the path from Yesod to Malkuth (my personal power and wealth generating favorite meditation. It's how I get exactly what I want right when I want it. Never surrender, kiddos!)

Does anyone know if she is making another documentary....
about her trip to Africa to adopt?
I ask b/c when I saw video of her there she seemed to also have her own film crew very close and filming her in the village.

I had heard she broke some rules and that is what I was very against.
As long as she doesn't break any laws and get away with it b/c she's "Madonna" it's fine by me.

The media as usual is treating this as if its' just a game and so are the celebrities. It's not fair. The kids that get adopted are people and not a way to get good publicity!!

I think she did a good deed. The child is a blessing for her and she is probabbly a blessing for the child. She seems very involved in the education of her natural children and I think she will be very dedicated to the " little new comer", too...

this may be a stupid question, but why is everyone slating madonna for adopting, while angelina adopted recently without nearly this much attention?

I think because Angelina Jolie has always been known for her humanitarian work and she had the decency to bring her children home herself rather then waiting for her P.S to deliver them to her front door:innocent:

Exactly. Madonna seems to be doing this for publicity, while Angelina didn't. If Madonna wanted to adopt a baby, she should have adopted an orphan, not a child who already had a living parent!

Besides, did Madonna even donate cash to Malawi? If she has, I haven't heard of this donation.
