Marc Jacobs F/W 10.11 New York

It's a shame my computer didn't show it. Demn! The collection doesn't look so good... Hmmm...

That was a really beautiful collection. In the half of the video I caught I saw a lot of old school awkward Marc Jacobs, but done in a more grown up way. Overall it reminded me, however vaguely, of his F/W 05 collection. I don't know why. It has a similar kind of spirit, I guess.

And I loved his take on grand evening wear. Not many people can make a huge taffeta evening gown look cool.

Oh get it. However, I must admit I'm a tad hesitant to give my interpretation of the collection... from the wood frame structure of a house, the choice of colors, texture, the messy/free flowing hair ala the woman in the famous photo shot by Dorothea Lange, the shoes, and so forth.

I hadn't noticed that, but I think you're right. Definitely intentional. :flower:

When the first girl walked/stepped out, sorry I cannot recall her name, all I kept thinking was Dorothea Lange's Migrant Mother image. The whole tone of the show was definitely calm, content...Depression era inspired clothing, yet there was a hint of hope... serenity as well.

I was disappointed by the collection. :( Maybe that's why my PC didn't stream the video. It's same old stuff looking even worse. Though some pieces were fantastic. The rest were just, ugh, bland.

I can't believe I missed the show. The stream was lagging so bad on my computer.
the collection looks decent, it is not my favorite from MJ, but I still like the concept behind it.

The colour palette and the combination of textures was pure brilliance. And for the first time in a long time, one gets the sense that Marc is back to his roots. No more gimmicks, just great wearable clothing. I love it.

I don't know if I am more in love with the theme and music or the collection or the collection enhanced by the music and the overall atmosphere. All I could picture was The Grapes of Wrath and the Dust Bowl. The whole show was inspired. I'm in love  And that finale dress, WOW!

That was just incredible. And it's been a long, long time since I've said that about Marc Jacobs.

 It looks like he really tried to strip everything back, doesn't it? From using one simple song (though a few renditions) a plain brown paper set, the minimal but gorgeous center piece, no celebrities, few big models, the anonymous girls, the little bow at the end rather than a finale parade.

 It was totally vintage MJ, as Spike said. I saw a few coats that reminded me of Vuitton fall '06, but the aesthetic overall was more akin to his work just before that season.

 The whole "Over the Rainbow"/dust storm/great depression references work perfectly with the economy right now, and the sequins were used pretty tastefully.

 Colors! The putty/brown/beige mix was great and understated. And the minimalism just added to it.

I totally agree with everything you just said.

i missed the video but from the tweets im seeing people said it was an emotional collection to watch. It is nice , very understated chic

I was waiting the whole day, and the streaming didnt work for me, it said no live host .. whatever.. the show looks fabulous, love the colors and the styling.. absolutely gorgeous
