Marc Jacobs F/W 2006.07 New York

The shape of the shoes just remind me of YSL SS2006 collection

I've never understood the hype of Marc Jacobs and this collection does nothing for me. Some of the cuts on the dresses aren't even flattering on the models, I don't understand who would actually buy this stuff...HIDEOUS!!!!

When Marc Jacobs' collection is good, Louis Vuitton's will be bad.

Why is the Marc Jacobs line always a terrible copy of other designers' work....?!

The hats are really terrible, so are the wool legwarmers..... the pumps' shapes is really tacky as well....

The only thing I found half decent was the dresses at the end of the show, beautiful fabrics.....

All the fur, tartan and tiger print is really terrible....:yuk:

love the boot shape too much but the bags leave me cold, those chains seem a bit 'forced' and heavy

I have always found his bags heavy...literally. I have had a few of his bags over the years, use them for a bit and then shelf them because once I start putting things in them they get too heavy to carry. I tried again and got this one in white for spring but it is so heavy. Also I think the shoes have a Prada/MuiMui feel with the patten leather and conical heals

That said, his collections always seem to get a lot of press and get people talking. Look, we already have 7 pages on his Fall 2006 collection! I agree that his pieces individually can really add some life and funk to a wardrobe, but some editing needs to be done.

very much a layered look, styling skills needed...creative, eh? color pallete is good!

very grunge meets ny chic. i like it but I feel there was more styling then design in this collection.

OK normally im not a big fan of marc jacobs but some pieces in this collection have won me over. All though there are some pieces i really dont like, like the iger print bits. I think the shoes are interesting but totally unwearable. I think this collection is more grown up then his usual stuff.

I love the volume and the use of layering. It more femine then his usual stuff as well i think. I love the use of tyhe dusky, faded colours. Im also feeling this has a slite 40's vibe to it.

^ I think the problem with MJ is that its never consistent..... He can do a very down to earth fun collection and then the next season, it's something else..... Like last season, the collection was just all over the place, with influences coming from everwhere.....

I have a headache looking at these pics because he's throwing in so many things.... I have got to say though that the evening dresses are very pretty...

I think MJ is a bandwagon hopper.... ...he likes to incorporate a lot of trends into one single show.... $$$ yes, but it's terrible....

I guess I will never be a Marc Jacobs fan. In the beginning, I thought he was terrible, just very lucky to have gotten "recognition" so fast. Now that his collections are better and more mature, I find that his lack of originality really disturbs me. Nothing he has ever done can be called "distinctly Marc Jacobs." Therefore, it is very hard for me to take him seriously as a designer.

Except maybe to say some of those shoes were seriously ugly.

Very well said Yamamoto....:flower: . His clothes lack personality/identity... there's no such thing as the MJ signature look.... it's so unconsistent and all over the place!

I am up and down on this collection...I have never been a fan of grunge and that's what these clothes seem to be portraying, but at least I can say he's not 'going that direction,' since he never goes in a particular direction. I'm sure next season's clothes will be completely different. I like some of the more structured pieces, and the outfits that seem piecey as opposed to draped in five yards of plaid material that looks as though it was borrowed from a hunter. When I see that stuff, I'm reminded hideously of the flannels I wore in seventh grade. *Cringe*

Some of the dresses were unique and pretty, but legwarmers?? REALLY? I hate those.

Decent overall.

people say that he lacks' focus, and true he's a man of extremes, but i've been very fascinated in the last 3 seasons. there is something so dark in them, i want to see where he's going....

and just because his designs use a lot of 80's influences, or grunge inlfuences and those can be attributed to the japanese and the belgians doesn't mean you have to dismiss him as a copycat. he's not the one you should pin down..what about derek lam or luella bartley? they literally rip off other designe's work...and last season's too, not something from years ago.

and look at it this way, this collection may be old news for paris, but in the context of new york, it's very brave..

^ ^_^ one season he's polished, next season he's grunge.... is it a vicious circle....?
