Miu Miu S/S 2012 Paris

I feel like Miucca could send models down the runway smeared in feces and there'd still be people declaring it as misunderstood genius and finding a way to like what is an otherwise an unattractive, unflattering collection. "I don't normally like feces, but Miucci has really made a nice play on the texture....etc."

I think we all realize people do this. I think we all also realize people will bash a collection regardless of it's brilliance if they dislike the designer. I don't' think we need to read comments stating this obvious fact in every thread. Boring.

I understand people not liking this collection, but it's absurd to call this uninspired. Really? Your concept of inspiration is really skewed if you think this uninspired.

The collection looks like a hybrid of Prada's Spring 2012 and Miu Miu's last collection. It's sweet, but there is a sense of danger. Although, overall it's playful and whimsical, I find some looks matronly and dated. Miu Miu has been a lot more mature than Prada since last season and this collection is no exception.

With that said, I do like the collection. However, I don't foresee this translating well off the runway, much like Prada's Fall 2011 collection. It could end up looking very doubty on the wrong person.

I'm a huge Miu Miu fan and I am disappointed in this collection. I do like a few pieces but I'm not in love with it like I usually am.

Ok, why is it that I was prepared to trash this collection when I saw the thumbnails? I actually don't hate it.

Talk about a volte-face. At the beginning of Milan, Miuccia Prada made a play for sweetness with zippy car-print dresses, retro maillots, and high-heeled sandals with tail fins. Today at Miu Miu, she opened with a model who let's just say doesn't belong to the Natasha Poly school of good looks, wearing a black blouse wrapped with a shape-obscuring matching stole across the chest and a plain gray A-line skirt. Hollywood to hausfrau in less than two weeks.

Afterward, she made a point about designing the collection in the "15 days" (13 by our count) since her Prada show. "I tried to do something different." Tried and succeeded. Though there were some overlaps—midriff-baring bra tops made a reappearance, as did lace—the emotions the two collections produced were quite dissimilar. There was at once something folksy about Miu Miu and slightly cold. As the show progressed, though, she added color (oxblood, cherry red, cerulean blue) as well as festive prints. There was nothing to quite raise the temperature like those Marilyn Monroe bathing suits in Milan, but we can see fans warming to the stiff lace tent dresses here or a patchwork print skirt worn with a clashing print top. The leather intaglio mules and boots will be street-style fodder, no doubt.

Still, there's no one like Prada for keeping us on our toes.

looks way too "home craft" with the prints and the way the ribbons are the capes.

the beginning i loved and the looks with the fabric crossed on the bust.

I always love Miu Miu collections, but I dont like this one so much, some skirts and dresses are pretty but I hate the shoes! The hair and make-up were awfull.

Now that i saw the collection in all it's glory i really liked this collection! But some shoes are so ugly, the first shoes the pointy ones were really good! But the boots ahhhhh :ninja:
Good collection but Miuccia sent a very scary and strange presentation!

Another smart step in distinguishing Miu and Prada identities. Even with some similarities between the two of them you get a totally different impression with such weird and quirky collection after her main line's sweetness in Milan.

The more I look at it, the more I love it, it's just so Miu Miu to me

^ Ditto. It's better than the Prada collection, imo. I love the tie-on cape coats; they look new. I also think the lace here is lovely; the shift dresses are glorious - although I still think Junya Wantanabe's lace/dresses were much prettier. And while I am not a fan of patchwork, I think some of the tonal patchworks show very well here. Like ChrissyM, I don't like the shoes or the bags. They clash at times with the clothing - too gimmicky again, but at least no cars!

i love it, the styling is brilliant. a lot of the silhouettes are gorgeous

and so help me but the more i look at the shoes, the more i like them

Uhh...what the f*ck? This is just annoying to look at. I actually appreciate the shoes more than the clothes. At least there's some sort of experimentation happening there. The collection is just a strange and lazy attempt at school-girl-chic?
