Model Casting F/W 10.11

I think there are girls with great bone structure (Natasha, Gisele, Lara), unique faces (they don't get lost in a crowd) that are either truly goddess-like or have some slight imperfection that somehow manages to work. And those to me are the so-called "hf" models.

It's not just about walking down the runway looking angry at the world and glaring at everyone in each direction. Nor is it about just having sucked in cheeks like you're chewing a lemon with eyes bulging out. And I see way too many of those models being cast just for the sake of "edgy" when they're really not.

On the other hand, what about with chloe???.... ie, Izabel canceled this show ... I have a feeling that models will be like those of loewe:unsure:

I find it somewhat funny that you mention your liking of models from the early 2000's, yet one of the photos you posted as being "ugly" was Delfine Bafort, one of the major Belgian models of this period. I did not find the cast ugly, but that is only my view.

I don't get why Jamie Bochert does so many big shows, she looks simply bizarre, there is no way I could concentrate on the cloths she's wearing because her look is so distracting.

Because she's an icon and one of the best print models we have ever seen. This woman has an very very strong attendance that does simply blow you away. You do actually book Jamie to give your show an expensive thouch, this is why she is only available for a very very few amount of clients every season (MJ, Rodarte, Lanvin, Ann D, (McQueen)). I love her career pattern, totally filtered and confined on huge bookings.

Jamie's look may be bizarre, but she looked absolutely ravishing at Lanvin imo. The whole collection could be done just for her, a strong woman with no needs of "pretty elements" to make her interesting.

I think she's one of those models that, when she's "used" in a propper manner and not as a show filler, then her looks become appropiate for the show. This is why I think a model's success should not be measured by the amount of shows she does or the campaign she gets, it should be for the impact she does in the industry.

Well, if designers hire her or any model, I don't think they hire them just for the sake of selling clothes or models. They hire models to sell an "image" for their brand.

Just my two cents :flower:

i can only take Jamie in small dosages but Alber loves her and she looked good at Lanvin.
everything cologne rock said is borderline puffery.

That's true, of course. Still makes me wonder and sad, though.

she totally reminds me of shelley duvall also! I thought I was the only one who saw it :P

I didn't know where else to ask this, but how much do model casting directors get paid and how do they get that job in the first place? Where do they begin?

that is a very good question. is there a school one must attend for judging the appearances of young girls?

Reminder for everyone, please state your opinions in a respectful manner, no model or member bashing here, this is about model casting, the title is clear, it is not the 'models whose appeal you don't get' thread, which, in case some of you forgot, no longer exists precisely for that kind of non-constructive, nasty, and unnecessary commentary.
Further rude and off-topic posts will continue to be removed and will result in either warnings or reminders.
