Model Casting F/W 11.12

I know I am late
but ... WHY did Arizona have to open Dolce?? She's such a wrong choice.

I have never been a fan of her but also didn't see her in a negative way, I just didn't care much about her. She was there, it was allright and that's it.
But now it really turns into a huge dislike and rejection.
I'm a just so tired and sick of her face, of her appearance everywhere and the huge reputation she gets.
Others will disagree now and say she's an awesome model etc. and maybe she is. But not in my eyes! It really makes me mad and I can't help it anymore, her appearance makes me sick. And there is nothing like "escape" because she is simply everywhere!

@wangster - That's the way I see it also - mybe she is good in printwork ( excluded the runway pics!!!) but her runway appearance (including the pics) are underwhelming

I know I didn't even see her, until I saw her name on the showlist thread. Had to go back and look for her.

So sad. Poor girl
I always hate Prada for that...

They should write a sequel to a certain well-known book, "Devil Designs Prada".

Seriously though, I hate Muicca for that too.

LOL, so mean. But hey, if Lily A had been there then at least Arizona wouldn't have had the worst walk :p So terrible to have the one model with the worst walk opening and closing all the shows. Arizona is neither sexy nor confident nor is she a good walker, it puzzles me how they could choose her when there were girls like Isabeli, Olga S, etc. at the show.

how can you have arizona open and THEN GODDESSES LIKE CANDICE parade out??? HOW?

well to be fair to Dolce it was a man/woman theme. and Candace definitely played her part well haha

Just Cavalli

Arizona didn't really open Dsquared,right?
I hope her overuse means everyone will get tired of her soon.

She opened "Iceberg" too.
Haha, that's exactly what I'm hoping too.
At first it was okay seeing her here and there on the runway, even opening one or two shows. But now I'm like:
Oh Arizona opened ....Arizona opened ....Arizona opened ...Arizona again ...Arizona closed Versace
Seriously there are plenty of other (imo more beautiful and unique) models out there...
Get over her....
One or two season and then hopefully "Bye Bye Arizona" :innocent:

^ lol this

well the thing is opening/closing slots for shows always changes season after season so i'm not really expecting her to have the same run next season or what. i mean it'd be nice of course (since i'm a fan) but it all depends on the designers and the casting directors. Jac had a monstrous season before and now she's barely opened anything this Fall. they make a trend out of the models and the final thing that matters is whether it will translate to campaigns and work for the chosen model. as for Arizona opening almost everything.. well success is the best revenge, that's all i'll say.

my thoughts exactly.
Honestly I think it's just a mainstream thing. I bet not all of the designers are so fond of her, so impressed, so amazed by her as a model, they just see the hype around her and that's why they put her in the openign/closing spot.
Would't be the first time something like that happens as AgrenateD mentioned.

Arizona and Daphne are definitely overused but that's just the normal run of things. Toni Garrn, Katrin Thormann & Sigrid Agren in SS09. Jac & Wolter in FW09. SS10 was all about the Dutch Balenciaga tripple (Lisanne, Patricia, Mirte).... All types of industry creatives tend to highlight 1 or 2 girs in each season, and these 2 girls (Arizona and Daphne this season, most definitely) are casted for everything beyond "aesthetic principles"of the collections, vision doesn't matter here anymore here.... Daphne opening Calvin Klein and Arizona walking there too was visually wise the biggest nonsense of the season.

But I have to admit, I rather like to see Arizona (and Daphne) doing all this cause these 2 girls know how to photograph well. Daphne can be both very sensual and expressive. Especially Arizona knows how to sell her look, I've never seen a rather new girl producing such editorial wonders. She photographs incredibly well. Something you cannot say about Julia Saner, Hailey, Melodie and other SS11 top newcomers who're great to look at but might fail when it comes to showing real versatility in print.

I think Arizona's case is even more extreme than Daphne's. Arizona was at every bigger Milan show (even Dsquared and Iceberg :ninja: ) and opening and closing a lot more.
It seems Daphne's showlist is more selective and she only opened Versus, if I'm correct.

It'll be interesting to see how both of them will do in Paris, their first Paris season..

omg how many opening and closing does arizona have? 10 millions. we spotted a start even at the very first few days of the ny fashion week. arizona is officially the 'IT' girl of the fashion industry at the moment. eds, covers, runways.................she conquers it all.

but i have to say that she is not a star of the catwalk. actually, she is so bad; it's hurt watching her on the catwalks. absolutely awful walk that she has. love her in print but not the cat walk. i would be surprise if they make her the catwalk queen for next season. that would be an epic disaster.

dalphe is doing well but not on the same level of arizona. not even close

Daphne's first one  Arizona was there last season and had an amazing week.

oh yes oops  I thought Arizona was a Miu Miu excl last season but she wasn't...
I think Arizona is seriously overexposed at the moment, we'll see in 4-5 seasons how she's doing.

Daphne is only fourteen or fifteen so she may have some difficulty in Paris (as will Hailey Clauson.) Aren't underage girls limited to only a certain number of shows and in restricted daytime hours? Usually designers (such as Miu Miu to accommodate Lindsey Wixson in past seasons) schedule their shows at appropriate times for younger models although it means that they're show list might not be quite complete.

No, Daphne is 16, so she should be fine
