Calvin was well curated and exciting, and a proof of why Ashley, even with very few shows, is still the best CD, at least for me,

As long as she casts Calvin Klein, Prada, and Louis Vuitton, she will remain the most influential casting director.

Tbh I love seeing older models on the runway. It gives the casting more dept and diversity.


Sasha Pivovarova seems to be doing more shows than usual. I hope Gemma does more shows.

really odd to see Jess PW go from top walker to one show.

^ this is mind boggling actually, there has to be some sort of explanation for this.

Overall pretty tame castings all over the board in NY. I do like the diversity, not only in race but also in shape and age.
No specific casts or newbies have caught my eye unfortunately.

I'm loving almost every cast in NY! The diversity is great and I feel like many girls have walked at least one top show. Gigi is the star of NYFW in my opinion, closing and opening basically every show she walks in. Vittoria will surely be the star in Milan, while I expect Rianne to be dominating Paris.

Yeah, overall the casting in NY has been pretty great. However, I feel like we've had more comebacks than newcomers. I can't think of a single new face that I remember. Are there any newcomers that have been doing well that I'm missing out on? Or is NYFW so dead that agencies are having them skip NY completely to debut in Europe?

^ LBR NYFW has been dead for a long time. The only show left to really showcase a new face is Marc Jacobs - which is slowly losing the prestige anyways.

If NYFW has to rely on some comebacks so be it. If anything it's showing how well a good model can elevate even the dullest of clothes.

In general there is a bit of a short-term memory loss with recent seasons' castings, and New York debuts tend to suffer the most from it.

If we consider the most recent iconic new faces, the vast majority made their first impact in Europe: Adut (Saint Laurent), Anok (Prada), Fran (JW Anderson), Kris (Prada), Rianne (Louis Vuitton). The outliers are perhaps Sara Grace (Proenza) and Lulu (CK), but otherwise NY debuts tend to be forgotten as the season moves on.

^ and the common factor among most of those girls really is Ashley Brokaw. Her new faces are usually the ones who receive the most attention.

For what it's worth out of the top 20 most shows walked in nyfw ..We have Yoon leading with 12 followed by Adesuwa, Adut & Mayowa all with 10 each ...Anyelina & Sara Grace with 9 ...Birgit & Blesnya with 8 ...On a more serious note imagine leading nyfw with 12 shows walked with lol..crazy ...i feel like there are so many girls who have been discarded after literally 1 year of walking ..this obsession with turnover of models is not good from my perspective..most of these girls have not walked more than 5 shows all week...this has been the most weird nyfw i can recall ever ..it seems like a slow death is taking place...a bit like this forum ..but i digress ...

OMG the diversity at NYFW is incredible, I'm living for it!! Finally starting to get to a point where races (not so much age or size) are represented pretty equally. I'm sure there were more black and asian models than white ones at Michael Kors, and flicking through nowfashion.com slides seeing that was a pretty cool experience. And when you have a section of say five or so black models in a row (or more please!), rather than in the past where they'd just place one or two throughout the show, you really get to appreciate their beauty more.

I was thinking exactly this too.. it’s very strange that she has only walked Ralph Lauren, Proenza and Tom Ford. I was expecting to see her at Michael Kors and Marc Jacobs, they are top clients she usually walks for..

Do you guys really think Vitto didn't book other shows, besides those 3? That's hard to believe. I think she was just busy working with something else.
(And this is coming from someone who's not even a fan. To me, she can fade any moment I wouldn't mind.)
