Nail Polish #2

I put on a base coat.

I put on 2 coats of color polish.

I put on a top coat.

Completely dried each time.

Yet, my polish peeled off. :judge: Like peeling off a sticker.

What did I do wrong? Grr.

It could be the base coat. I never have good luck with them. My nails seem to chip and peel the next day after using them regardless of the brand. IMO, unless you're using a dark color from a lesser brand a base coat isn't really necessary (I don't mean to sound snobbish but a dark blue polish from Urban Outfitter's polish line turned my nails green). OPI and Essie have never stained my nails.

Soak off gel never ever again! It's okay, it lasts forever, it's pretty, but almost impossible to remove it. I was told I could remove this gel with pure acetone-didn't remove a speckle. I went to my beauty salon (not where I got my gel nails done) and ultimately she has to file down the gel, because she couldn't even remove it with their special liquid (which I assume was also an acetone). My nails are so thin now. Not like paper, but still really poor.:( And yellow!:nuke:

I feel so bad that you went through that nonsense. I had a similar experience and it has taken nearly three months for my nails to completely grow out. Since I removed my gel, my nails were thin, brittle, and splitting. SO gross -- and SO not worth the $50 I spent at the salon. I loved not having to deal with chipped nails for 3 weeks but the 3 months following the manicure were ridiculous!

^^Yeah, me too. At least it was for free.
There are not in THAT bad shape though, at least at first glance. I put on tons of vitamins and nail hardeners so they'll be fine soon.:D

I also realised that I love shorter nails, long nails annoy me, especially when it comes to typing.

Yes! Thank GOD short nails are in right now! And good call on the nail strengthener. I've yet to find a good one, though.

And I think the reasons my nails were so shredded were a) I didn't like the first color the manicurist put on so I had two sets of gels put on in one day and b) I left the gel on for about 5 weeks (I had a similar OPI color and filled in the nail bed when my nails started to grow). Oh, and I live in a super dry state so that could have something to do with it, too.

Overall, on the outside chance I get gel nails again, I would only do it if someone else were paying

Can someone ID this color that Eva is wearing,or tell me some similar color?

Letting the nail polish dry before you applied the top coat is where you could have went wrong. Some top coats require the nail polish to be tacky before application. For example, Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat applied to dry polish usually results in instant peeling.

Hello ladies!!

I am looking for a trustworthy website where I could get my Nail polishes!! I mostly use OPI and Mavala and buy them in the stores. But since the dollar is so low I end up paying double :s So can you tell me where you get them please?

I am truly obsessed with nude colors. this image is so well known so I thought maybe someone in here may identify the brand/color?

Out of curiosity, how many nail polishes do you girls own?

My friend thinks I have a problem because I own quite a lot and I can't leave a store without buying nail polish :innocent:

I'm afraid I can't identify it for certain but, with nudes, a tiny difference in the colour can't really be detected. You can't go wrong with Revlon's Grey Suede, anyway; a simple, cheap, chic classic.
