Pale Or Tan...

I have fairly pale skin, especially during winter, but also during the summer i don't tan that much.. the thing is, i don't have a great pale complexion, meaning i have healthy skin, but i have a feeling you can see every little problem i have, like dark circles when i'm tired etc... I think a natural tan is beautiful and makes your skin look healthy. The sun is an antidepressent, and gives you good vitamins. So basically my opinion is that sun is good, but all in moderation!:flower:

I refuse to go on sunbeds etc., Im naterally pale and dont really tan to much or burn just sty prittty mich the same. I want to stand out from the crowd as were i live everyone is tanned. There are like 20 sunbed shops in a 2mile radius of my home.Liverpool and merseyside are home off the tangoed look :(

So true - when I was a design manager, I took the design team to the North of England to research streetwear trends (important because as you know, there is a difference in UK fashion from city to city).

The girls were in shock at the deep tans in Liverpool, particularly my new designer who was originally from California!

There are going to be a lot of wrinkly women in Merseyside in a few years.

I'm really pale, my hair is naturally blonde. I use fake tan in the summer, I don't sunbathe, so I use a bit to take the edge off my blueness :p I think if you are careful applying it, it can look good.

But in the winter, I love to be pale and wear bright red lipstick! It's a seasonal thing for me

i peoples natural skin tone aposed to tanning.... its a much nicer look imo theres a girl im my fashion class who obivously uses sun beds and she has really brown blotchy skin which just looks:sick:

imo chinese ppl look bad with a tan. white porcelain skin all the way!
it's interesting to note the trends in various countries. in countries like USA, Australia, etc, tanned is THE look while in Asian countries such as Japan and China (especially in HK) white skin is very trendy.
I travel lots and I've noticed the duty free in European Airports, sells products by brands such as Clinique that are self tanners or bronzers. In South East Asia they sell whitening creams and you can't buy a self tan anywhere.....

Heres Carolyn Murphy in ads for Estee Lauder for whitening cream and suncream. Make your mind up, dear!

im fair skinned and i turn beet red if i stay in the sun. i got sun poisoning one year so bad i had to to the emergency room to help with the dehydration and pain. after that no more sunbathing for me. i like dark skin on guys; my husband is native american and has beautiful skin coloring.

Pale is beautiful! Sprinkled freckles on ivory skin looks like art. Natural tan is good too, no baked on or sun destroyed skin.

It depends on the person as to whether I prefer pale or tan. On myself I prefer a bit of a tan because it brings out the green in my eyes and makes me look even more unique. Plus I don't look orange or red-tinted like many people do because I am part Chinese; it goes a nice chocolate colour, instead. :)

I met this lady in Portugal once; she had horribly wrinkled skin with tonnes of ugly grey blotches all over it. The reason she had skin like that is because she was always tanning without any protection and by the time she was in her late twenties she had permanently damaged her skin. I would never want to be like that and that is why I make sure I have sun tan lotion with high protection.

Ewww!!

I guess you're right, overall I like pale people, but sometimes I see someoneor a model with perfectly taneed skin and it looks very flattering on them.

I think pale is very original, thanks to all the living, breathing oranges that are around now. But a slight tan (and i mean only like a little glowing) is extremly sexy too. My skin used to tan very easily as a child but as soon as i hit puberty i just stopped catching the sun as much. I can still get a tan it just takes me longer. I really think i might try using sun protection every day now. I think my generation (im 16) are really lucky as we are aware of the damage the sun can cause, so we can deteer any future wrinkles or health risks.

I'm pale and I like it, but the fact that if I wanted to be tan, I couldn't, is really annoying, especially in summer.

I prefer my women milky white, pure as the driven snow (but dark, dirty and depraved on the inside)... never been a fan of tanned skin, unless of course, there are freckles involved, then it's game on... I love a freckled complexion, so hot, esp. a freckly chest area, oh how I love that, but no freckles NO Deal!

:ninja:

Im porcelain-pale and there is no way for me to get tan, there i have to keep it pale and try to fight brown dots (bad kind of freckles, not cute). weirdly i have thing for tanned/dark guys with balck hair with dark brown eyes.... :P look mysterious to me (giggles)

I try to stay out of the sun as much as possible because I love the pale look but for whatever reason, as opposed to looking like a porcelain doll, I look sickly. Bleh.

Im naturally olive skinned and I tan very easily. But on certain people, tan just doesnt look right. Especially on bleach blonde, blue-eyed women it looks disturbing to me.

I tan pretty easily as well. I can't stand fake tan, I think it looks awful on anyone who tries it. If you don't tan easily, don't try and have darker skin, most likely whiter skin will suit you.

I live in Paraguay and even among the aristocratic environment, pale people are slightly looked down upon - it's "uncool", unhip, unelegant and quite a mockable subject, the paler type.. I personally have (in most cases) associated pale skin with elegance and class, i'm not really sure why! Tanning should be done carefully because if not done "right" so to speak, it may give off an extremely tacky and trashy impression. It all depends on your general physical appearance. I'm not thaaat pale, i'd be one amongst the crowd if i were to go to northern europe, but here i'm practically considered albino!

On me- pale. I'm a medium,though.

On other ppl- It depends.
I don't like leather bag tan.. ( even moreso combined with white blonde hair  )
But a good, golden tan is nice to look at.
I also love very pale skin.. like really really white ( e.g Liv Tyler )
