Personal must-haves for F/W 07.08

As I live in Miami aka the blackhole of fashion, planning ahead only leads to disappointment because the desired item rarely, if ever, present themselves.

the broad list -
skirts; ranging from short to knee-length
nice pair of black or charcoal grey cigarette pants
basic tanks/tees in assorted gem tones and dusty colors
some type of functional but dressy shoe - preferrably flat - no heels and no dull ballet flats; something striking and esoteric.
Delicate, soft blouses in vein of Sacai fw 07.08
Glass-esque jewelry/pins

^ You've got tons of shopping in Boca Raton, right? Where I live is considered a shopping mecca, and things have actually gotten lots better in the past few years as one of our malls is doing this major expansion and has brought in a bunch of designers/labels we never had before (or at least not their own boutiques). With Barneys and a top-flight Nordstrom reality is approaching the reputation. But I still order things from elsewhere--including from Florida  The problem being, of course, a huge selection of things I don't want  We need signs: Ladies Who Lunch >>
<< Women Who Think

Anyway, came here to mention I saw the Lanvin brooch in a magazine--$2980

i think that ideally i would like that isabel marant skirt...but it's so hard to find i.marant in the US...any ideas?
...

Agree, the IM skirts are perfect--they are full without being too wide or voluminous...which is exactly what I want. I will keep my eyes open...there are a few stockists around, as I've said before. :flower:

luckyme, I am actually thinking a narrow waist and hip will be nice this winter--not cinched or anything, just slim, with volume on top.

btw soft, let us know how you fare with the VB pants....I tried those on last year and they were an utter disaster on me. I really need to find something that is narrower in the hips....

:o Utter insanity! Why oh why do Lanvin accessories have to be so expensive?

And you are hilarious, btw.

oh no....don't say that!....:(
i hope they work...
i sort of want something fuller in the hips and then pegged...
these looked like they fit the bill just right and usually her pants are really good on me...
they should show up today --- or maybe monday...

btw- i've nixed the cord skirt now...
and am currently obsessing over the toast by post skirt you posted....
:innocent:...
i actually have something similar so i am thinking i could make that work...
then i would be all set if i can just find a short full skirt as well...
yes- we must be on the lookout for the i.marant skirt!!!...
:judge:

^I think they might work better for you, because you are taller than me and have longer legs....

I have a hard time with her pants as well as Isabel Marant's--but I have very narrow hips and small waist + a bubble of a bum. I think maybe they just design for a different body type. Ann Dem's cropped pants are good on me, they are just so expensive these days.

The toast skirt is nice isn't it. I saw a good summer version at H&M yesterday made out of black linen...:innocent:

let's see, body type...narrow hips (I think), a poof of a bum and my waist melts into my hips a bit...but I found the Ann D. cropped pants a perfect fit for me, try them, I bought last year's version and they bring out my inner patti smith.B) yoox, has some from last year posted. her pants are hit or miss for me, sometimes I don't like the fabric.

I'll try to take a picture of the yohji sweater over the weekend but don't be surprised if I wear the collar as a hood.

I know exactly what you mean ... there was that gorgeous Lanvin plastic flower brooch I really wanted, but it wasn't sold separately, you had to buy a Lanvin coat or something to get it ... and I think that package deal may have been cheaper than this

I have seen other versions of it too for less--closer to $2K. There's a necklace, and a black leather bracelet, which I think you would like. I bet you would still balk at 50% of that though ... you and a lot of other people  I think the bracelet was in Elle. If you want, I can look & see what the stores listed are. I'm thinking Barneys would have some version of it ...

I think those are on yoox now....I might try them if the price goes down a bit. I wish I had bought her pajama pants with the buttoned down legs, they were definitely jodhpur like. Honestly, I am a bit put off by Ann these days--prices keep climbing and the quality has been visibly down this and last season. The winter collection is really disappointing in person so far. :(

I can't wait to see you in the sweater! Collar as hood... :ninja: B)

thanks dear...
i remember that brooch and collection ...it was a pre-spring/resort collection and i got a coat and a dragonfly pin from it...
to compare...the coat retailed for $3300 and the pin just under $1000
(that is NOT what i paid-btw......).
so for a pin to be $3000 -that is almost as much as a coat....
:unsure::huh:...
that doesn't seem right...you know?

and even though i like the pin...it's PLASTIC!...
i wouldn't even do it for 1/2 off...just on principle...
it's just too ridiculous!

i'd like to see what other jewelry they did this season...
i almost always like it...but you can only buy so much lanvin jwlry...
i don't wear what i have very much as it is...
though that flower seems like it would go with everything...

i think you are right that barney's will have some of it...
they usually have a wide selection...

- a black leather jacket
- black ankle boots
- lots of dresses
- lots of skirts

I hope I will find these items in London and Amsterdam with my low budget...

which plastic lanvin brooch are you all talking about???any pic???$3000 for a plastic brooch???

- tight, black leather jacket. found one at zara.
- some flat leather boots in either black or brown. i have no idea, where to look :(
- balenciaga-ish pants in military-green. unfortunately i can't afford those. anyone who knows, where i can find some?
- wide leatherbelt. i found one in H&M, and i adore it.
- navy blazer. a very sweet girl i london bought one in zara for me, hope it will arrive next week.
- blue (navy) parkacoat.
- lots of scarf. i am considering one from designers remix collection right now.

Thanks Laika! You are too kind.

Fashionista-ta, there is actually tons of shopping in Miami aswell, particularly Bal Harbour, but it's geared towards the 'Ladies who lunch' & 'I've got daddy's credit card' crowds, sadly.

softgrey, you are lucky still! Atleast you get to see beauty. Everything here is not only over-priced but mindblowingly horrendous.

To add to my bare list:
A light but substantial jacket/coat - maybe geometric, understated print
And for the only 'trend' I'll be trying this fall, unicolored coordination, LOTS of tights in gem tones and varying shades of grey, interesting shoes in those shades, dresses and also 'slips' in contrasting darker shades - think emerald greens, dark blues, dark purples, magenta, etc. Also looking for garments with interesting textures.

I was just flipping through british Vogue and apparently the Gap over there will have a version of the jodhpurs....see this article. :flower:
