I have my left earlobe pierced and it still has the silver stud they pierced it with (it's been like... eight[?] weeks now) and now i'm looking for something to exchange it for - i have quite an antique/formal-contrast-with-casual look, any suggestions??

I think I'm going to get my lip pierced when I'm 18, just 4 months away
But just wondering will there always be a hole there? Like if I take it out when I'm older.
I decided I should edit in a lip ring in this picture... sorry for my ridiculous face!
The second picture is my friend's brother's ring I really like that kind and I got the idea from him.

I hear lip piercings close up pretty quickly, so I highly doubt there will be a an actual hole there. There will most likely be a small scar there. If you care for it properly while it's healing (when you pierce it and after you take it out forever) that should minimize the scar. Ask your piercer what you can do for scarring.

Last night, I got into the shower and took out my navel ring just to rinse the area. I've had the piercing for about 2 months, so it was safe to take out.

I forgot to put it back in. About 4 hours later, I tried to put it back in but the hole had already closed up!

It wasn't 100% closed but I had to drive that ring through the new layer of skin to get it back in. It was bad.

I had my tongue pierced when i was 16, had that about 3 years.
and i had an off centre labret, took that out last month..

Piercings... it used to be that piercing on the ears were perfectly fine and really the only place to place any piercing. It had to be on the earlobe to look great. Then, some have tried navel piercings. I'm perfectly fine with navel piercings because I often consider the belly to be the most beautiful part of a femme's body. I even love watching bellydancers shimmy and shake to certain Middle Eastern songs. When a style is hot or popular, someone always tries to do something different. It happens in EVERY culture and subculture. That's when most wanted to do piercings on the nose, around an eyebrow, tongue, and other places. As long as piercings are on the earlobe or navel area, I'm okay. But when you're a cat scratching post of piercings, it's scary to me.

I don't have any real favorite styles for piercing. My only criteria is that the style is on the earlobes or navel. It's scary to see piercings anywhere besides those two aforementioned areas. You can be stylish with ear piercings. You can look pretty hot with a navel piercing. But when you start doing eyebrows and stuff, it's scary as crap to me. Some guys even have some navel piercings. I don't see why because I always consider a women's belly to be beautiful and expressive rather than a guy's belly (though some men can look very handsome and beautiful), but this is almost exclusive to femmes since femmes can show off their belly with little or no fail. And if you happen to be a pregnant femme, you'll have to remove the piercing if you're giving birth.

Some people I see around my community college usually have some other kinds of piercing. Some that really irk me are those with lip piercings and something underneath their lips. Almost as if trying to kiss some girl with piercings on her lips and just underneath her lips ends up punishing you by drawing blood or something. If you don't want guys kissing you on the lips, then just say so without wanting to have those piercings on you. Piercings [other than ears or navel] were rated fashion don't #30 in "Glamour Magazine's Top 50 Do's and Dont's" and for good reason. Name me a model or celebrity noted for having beautiful piercings and are beautiful with piercings. Thought so.

Piercings can be fine on the earlobes, acceptable (not by MOST parents and people) on the navel, but completely unacceptable and scary elsewhere.

john, i really understand and respect ur view and i agree in some ways but maybe women dont do peircings becuase they think men will like it, its a personal choice. i wouldnt date a guy with too many pericings but im not gonna say its a bad thing to do because its not my place... if someone wants to peirce themselves or get a tattoo then it doesnt really affect you, its their body.
i have my ears and nose peirced and everybody has said it look very elegant and tasteful on me, but i agree that it doesnt suit some people. i do think that it tends to suit middle eastern women more although i have seen women of all races who look good with it...so it really depends on your face methinks.

I used to have them down to a size 2 or 1 (I can't remember).

What size did you start off with and what size did you go up to?

they were 0 gauge and i was going up to the size above i forget what its called is it 00 gauge maybe.. not massively big but a fair size like

i really do miss my piercings i want my surface piercings back but there isnt anyone in newcastle skilled enough that i would trust to do them pfft!

now i only have my lobes, two cartiladge, a tragus and an anti tragus and oh yeah i still have my nipple but i dont seem to notice it anymore:lol:

i really want another one but dont really think i'd suit anything else than what i already have its a shame since i find it so addictive and havent had one in over a year.

I have a snake bite and on each nipple two piercings.I had a vertical bridge but i had to take it out because it started to grow out :(

Well... I went through this phase were I got every piercing virtually known to man without ones that included my whowho, and then... one day... i went crazy and took them all out. and then the next couple years continued to repierce my lip with a safety pin, which I always got sick of the lip ring. So now I'm piercing free. Except for my ears. I think piercings are cool as long as they're not on underage boys who wear Abercrombie and suddenly think they're an emo rockstar because they pierced their lip. *shrug*

I have my ears (lobe) pierced twice, and about a month ago, I got my tragus pierced, and I adore it. Only two more weeks and I can change the stud.

When I first got it, it was a bit swollen, but now it's fine.

I've been pierced everywhere (only have the ears now) - and had everything stretched.

Lips heal very quickly because saliva is very sterile and... amazing.

But I got freckles... so I never worried bout scars (dot scars) bc they blend in.

Navel rings seem like they are healed but never really completely heal until 9 to 12 months (everyone is different)
What type of jewelry was it pierced with b/c you shouldn't have to completely remove the jewelry in order to clean the area.

lol great you won't make friends with ppl with those kinds of piercings and they won't gravitate to you either.
Also when last did anyone consider Glamour Magazine the holy grail of fashion do's and don'ts.

I understand you have your personal preference but its not YOUR body and don't you think its kind of pointless coming into a body piercing thread to be anti-piercings.....What's the point of writing the essay you did above in this kind of thread?
I doubt you found any converts but if thats how you want to spend your time :innocent:

Very similar thing happened to me. My hole started to close after a few hours, I couldn't get the ring back in! I actually had to go back the piercing salon, and the guy there said if I had waited any longer he would've had to use the apex. This was after I had had the piercing for over a year! It was only 5 hours from removal time. He told me to use a personal lubricant to put the ring in, and so far that's worked great.

I've been on and off about wanting a navel piercing...my sister got one and well she says she loves it and it never bothered her, my friend said that i'll regert it if i get it...and ppl here and there saying this and that about it...so it put me on hold for a while...my question is, will it scar? if i remove it later? and also are their hole piercing sizes? like small , meduim etc...?
