I've been on and off about wanting a navel piercing...my sister got one and well she says she loves it and it never bothered her, my friend said that i'll regert it if i get it...and ppl here and there saying this and that about it...so it put me on hold for a while...my question is, will it scar? if i remove it later? and also are their hole piercing sizes? like small , meduim etc...?

Just like anything, there are risks associated with getting a piercing. It could develope a keloid scar, it could get infected, lots of coulds. But, if you take care of it, by keeping it clean, going to a reputable piercing salon, and following their guidelines, more than likely you'll be fine. I don't know if they do different sized holes for belly buttons, I think it's usually a standard size. I had mine done 3 years ago, and I really like the way it looks. It "straightened" my bellybutton, mine was kinda shaped oddly from having 3 kids.

it will scar since its a hole through your belly. although it will be small if it heals well and you dont go picking at it. i keep picking at my collarbone holes so they turn red every once in a while but they are hardly noticeable unless i point them out to people.

there are piercing sizes these are gauges you can get thicker or thinner but your piercer will use a standard gauge bar for your navel because if you use a smaller gauge it could cause a cheese grater effect which aint pretty:ninja:

i do hope that makes some sort of sense

if you want it go for it i wouldnt worry about other peoples opinions its your belly button after all:flower:

Exotic

I really enjoy the image of an exotic piercing on an otherwise restrained look.

I think less is more when it comes to piercings. If you have your nose pierced you should not have much else beyond your earslobes. Too many dangling bits on a body are unappealing (IMO).

I really want to see a guy with a simple silver bull ring in a Dior Homme black suit. I think that is such a beautiful image. I also really like Nape piercings and offcourse nose piercings.

Lip and Eyebrow are fine but strike me as something a rebellious teen would do. But I'm sure there is someone out there who pulls them off with stride.

The other day I came across this picture:

BMEzine.com (maybe it's hard to tell, but it's like a bar with the bell kind of flatten out)

Ever since, I'm really thinking about getting this kind of "surface bar" piercing. This picture is actually taken in a studio, not far from apartement. Does someone have experiance with this kind of piercings? I hear your body can reject this kind of stuff. And did you feel like it was contracting you in some kind of way? Like that you were always worried when taking off your t-shirt or whatever? Do you people think it's freaky?

over all i've had 3 surface bar piercings my wrist and my collarbones if you skip back through this thread you can probably find them. they have all since been taken out though because the important thing to remember is that a) they do not heal b) they are extremely likely to reject

alot of people got freaked out when they saw my piercings but overall i never had an overly bad reaction from people.

my wrist piercing started to reject the entry holes started to get darker in colour and it just didnt feel right i cant explain its not itching or anything physical but if you know your body you'll know when to let go of the piercing especially if you dont want to end up with a huge scar.

i see you've been looking through bmezine they have alot of excellent information on there and couldnt recommend it more. just make sure you go to a good piercer who will measure you and then bend the bar for your body and where it is placed because it will help it last longer being pierced properly. dont be scared to quiz them and ask how they do it.

personnally i think they are an amazing piercing to have even if you cant have them forever. if i knew of a piercer good enough in this town who would actually do one i'd get one in a heart beat.:p

I've got a labret piercing and I love it, I don't know, a piercing goes with the personality of each person, a piercing is more that a trend to me.

This is me with my piercing:

Thanks for your reply. I actually went to the piercing studio the other day. About five years back I got another piercing there as well and I remembered seeing a couple pictures there on the wall of girls covered in piercings all over their body (maybe I need to mention that it's also an SM-shop).

Anyways, I asked one of the girls there about the piercing and they said they do it almost every other week and she was known with it. It ain't even that expensive. Allthough she warned me that it's not like the usual piercings; you need to clean it every day and really be carefull with it.
She also had a surface bar herself, right between her cleavage. She told me she had it for more than a year now and never had any problems exept for the occasional purple spots when she forgot to clean it a couple of days. Then she talked about taking chocolate bars before having it pierced and taking some kind of pills for my immune system. That last thing kind of freaked me out, but I'll do some research on BME and the likes.

I'm not sure if I still want to do this piercing, allthough I really like it. It's kind of edgy, feminine and descrete at the same time.

Also, you can choose either having a bar or some kind of wire?

yeah i kept knocking the one on my wrist which most likely made it unhappy but your not going to hit your neck off doors and cabinets.

you do have to clean them everyday in the begining like with any piercing but i found that they just settled and maybe needed it every so often.

chocolate bars are just to keep your blood sugar up so you dont faint or just have something to eat before you go like breakfast you dont really need to but its just abit of sense. the pills im guessing are to keep your body healthy to keep your piercing healthy but if you have a good diet i really wouldnt worry about that.

with the bar or wire thing im guessing your refering to seeing some people with what looks like small plastic tubing with balls on the end personally i had the bent metal surface bars that look like staples. it really depends on the preference of your piercer and their knowledge on what will heal better since there is also two different ways to actually do the piercing too, straight forward with a needle like any other piercing would be and using a dermal punch but again this depends on the piercer.

just do abit of reading it goes a long way personally i think you should go for it at the end of the day you can always remove the jewellery:flower:

Thanks again for your reply. I think I'm just going to make an appointment and get it. I'll post pictures if I do.

It is a different kind of piercing in the picture than you meant in your post I think.

Google dermal anchor and microdermal and you will find a lot of information on all your questions! :flower:

Edit: Ok, I took another look at the picture and there seams to be a bar, I can't really tell.
However, you might want to take a dermal anchor into consideration, it's a new version of surface piercings with less pressure on the skin.

i want to get a beauty mark with dermal.like a little diamond. i think it'd be cute.

My navel ring has been giving me problems lately.. it's my 2nd time getting it pierced (after they did it with too little skin last time, sigh). Anyone know some good products to use to prevent infection/keep it dry and unirritated?

^
yes, u need to wash it daily with sea salt solution. u can find it in any pharmacy. just go and read the solution labelled with sodium somehting. and then u can ask the staff for clarification.

i've been treating my eyebrow piercing with it since i got it pierced. and it healed beautifully!

i just bought some tapers so i can start stretching my ears i cant wait til they arrive.

the downside being my mum will hate it and probably question it every other day:ninja:

^^ have u bought plugs to go with them as well .. you cant walk around with tapers in for too long .. messes ur ears up cos they pull so it stretched at a odd angle .. i discovered this the hard way :( plus hurts as they get knocked loads .. jsut a bit of friendly advice :flower:

i was well anoud though because i knew my holes we all ripped etc... so i thort why not stretch them so bought a kit from 18g down to 0g and discovered my ears were already at 2g so the others were a complete waste lol

i managed to get them up 2 more sizes to 00 them gave up cos the tapers annoyed me .. they still have not shrunk though so might go back to it again when ahve money for pritty tunnels

im not going to invest in plugs yet since im stretching up from complete begining and these first tapers will be tiny since i bought the smallest i could get i'll start investing in plugs when its more of a hole not a dot:lol:

this is going to be a long boring process but it should keep me amused without wanting anymore holes in my body.

^^ promise you wont rush one of my ears burst out ive never experienced pain like it and wouldnt wish it on anyone .. take it nice and slow .. btw i think some solid all black plugs would look great on you .. jsut your style :)

haha enough of me nagging and being like ur mum haha :flower:

be sure to post pictures xx
