To elaborate on what NYCgirl said...if you have your belly button pierced for a long time your body will reject it and start to try to close but cant because of the ring...at that time then youll have to take it out for it to finish its job..it takes YEARS and YEARS for it to happen though(except in certain cases like my friend whos body rejected it after 2 years..but her bodys a bit odd so dont worry about it much).....

Anyways..hope that didnt scare you(beleive me its not scary..you just take the thing out), but I just wanted to let you know so just in case one day if it starts to happen you'll know why.

thanks for all your help. now the hard part is convicning my mom on letting me get it done. My dad doesnt really care but my mom thinks its "low class" so if you got any tips on what i can do to convince her it would be great.

It pinches at first but not a big deal at all. I got it done 7 years ago. Its all fine now and I still love it. Its something I won't get sick of. Its sexy IMO

it doesnt hurt. you feel pressure for a few seconds ..thats it.

i thought my nose was more painful.

i dont have the nose anymore ..it left a scar when it closed. im totally over the navel piercing but i still have it....i actually always forget its there

i'm the same way...i know if i took it out i'd regret it though.

it didn't hurt though, it was over so fast that it didn't really register as pain in my mind. just be really strict with the aftercare and try not to get the ring caught on anything because that does hurt.

I have had my navel pierced for about 8 years (and i love it) I have to say it does hurt for a split second when they are piercing it. but the worst part for me was the healing period-6 months- They say some people will heal in 2 weeks and some even take up to 8 months. well i has ready to pake it out, but it finally healed and i would never get rid of it.

i may have been the only one, but it didnt hurt when i got it done. it hurt more after it was done until it healed. was a little uncomfortable to sleep on for a couple days, but no longer than that. but anyways, the day after i got it done, i blacked out for a few minutes. it was scary. ive heard of blacking out after peircings but not the next day.

i would never take it out, i like it. even if it is mainstream and everyone and their mom has one. id regret it if i did take it out though.



and also, ya my nose hurt more! i felt like i was punched in the face.

Star- i do think everyone is diffrent and has a diffrent level of pain tolerancy, I on the other hand used to have a nose piercing when I was 15. and that hurt less than ear piercing, so I would just decide whether I really wanted to get it done and just go for it, and later deal with everything else.

I got my belly button pierced last summer. I was lucky coz it only hurt when it was getting fixed but soon after that i had no problem.I went swimming a week later. All was fine. I still have it. I thought it would hurt more, but it really doesnt. I DIDN't TELL MY MOM, SHE SAW IT AFTER I CAME BACK FROM MY SUMMER VACATION. Hey, she thought it was vulgar at first but now she doesn't mind it. Whats the worst that can happen?i have a natural tan so it looks good on me. I chose a small one. It looks sexier than the bigger ones.

My best friend wanted to get a monroe piercing (top corner of lip, were a beauty mark would be) and she asked my advice and I told her not to because I thort it looked stupid and she is now not talking to me !! I oviously said it a bit more tacktfull, but still...

I absolutely HATE the monroe piercing... I think the people who get it are absolute fools. I would've told her it would look stupid too... you were just being honest, she can't get angry at you for that.

I guess I shouldn't talk, I just got my brow pierced over spring break...but it's usually covered with my bangs, anyway. THAT piercing would be out in the open ALL of the time.

The thing i dont get about piercings is do they scar?? do u end up with a mark on ur face 4eva and eva ??

Yes they scar.

Sometimes they heal so well that you can't see them... i guess it depends on the person...

I have my nose pierced.. whenever I take it out, you can see the hole.. it looks a bit larger than one of my pores. Not so bad.
