^ it's been a year since i took my lip ring off, but i remember when i got it done.. the swelling lasted for about a week or less, and it didn't hurt that much either. it's just more the feeling of having something in your mouth that you haven't had before, and it takes a while to get used to it
it's easy to take care of it, so i'm sure you won't have any trouble

I second that. The "worst" part was only the feeling of having something in the mouth... *lol*

So just go ahead! :D

Yeah in a couple of weeks I'm off to get my nose pierced...any tips or advice? How badly does it hurt and what not?

I had my nose pierced last year (have since removed) and the best advice I could offer is to have your nose pierced with a needle and not a gun. It is not only more hygienic, but more accurate, as the needle can be inserted in the most suitable position to flatter your appearance.

Of course, as with any piercing, there will be some level of discomfort, and this will vary from person to person, but my experience was not unpleasant. There was very minimal pain, just a numb feeling as the needle entered.

Finally, bring a friend along with you. No matter how much research you do (which, if you are anything like me, that will be alot!) you will naturally be apprehensive, and so a familiar face will help to calm your nerve and make the experience fun!

Good luck :flower:

Thank you! I got some birthday money so I'm considering getting it done by the weekend. I don't have any friends to go along with me but I'm sure I'll be fine, there's quite a few reputable parlours here in Seattle.

Anyone here have a septum piercing done ?? im considering getting it done cos i can hide it in work .. i also want my hips and cleavedge doing but im not so sure any more and im skint :(

trista .. im the biggest pain freak ever .. i have the lowest pain threshold ever and i can honestly say getting ur nose pierced with a needle doesnt hurt .. more like a sting .. like maybe pulling a hair out or something ... your eyes water as well. but go for it .. it instantly looks nice and you can always remove it if your not happy :flower: good luck and be sure to let us know how you get on.

I only have my earlobes pierced. I'm planning to get my belly button pierced during the summer (August-ish) and I really want to get another pair of piercings in my earlobes and one cartilage, but I don't know when I'll get around doing that.

^ i'd recommend that if you're gonna get you're gonna be at the beach during the summer, you get your belly button pierced before or after. in my experience summertime was the hardest time to take care of my piercing, one of the reasons being that i spent a lot of time at the beach and i sand got near the newly pierced area. so i was freaked out most of the time thinking it could get infected, and cleaning it so this won't happen. luckily it never did, i was a little paranoid

^^I WISH I could go to the beach. Nah, this whole summer is SAT prep, math tutoring, studying, dance, and maybe some tennis watching and picnicing, but that's about it. haha. Even then, maybe I should get it done during the winter? Thanks for the information! :)

I had pondered getting my bellybutton pierced for my birthday, but the healing time is 6 months and I've gone onto the pages for Lucky Devil, Slave to the Needle, and Laughing Buddha (3 piercing places here in Seattle) and the consensus is that it takes 4-6 months for it to heal and they don't recommend going in pools or anything in that amount of time. I'm instead going to get it done in October-after the weather starts to cool off and so I can have it all healed by next summer.

^ yeah, that was what i was told too

flutterbugfly
oh, then i wouldn't wait
as far as i know that the belly button is in a place where there's a lot of movement and blood irragation. so that's why it takes longer to heal.
and why it's recommended not to do any activity that could delate that healing (such as rough movements on the area, etc).
but i'm sure that if you take the appropiate care, it'll heal perfectly and you won't have any trouble. your piercer will provide the information you need to take good care of your piercing :flower:

I actually want a tongue piercing, always have but never had the opportunity. First it was because I was living at home and my parents gave me the "as long as you live under our roof..." speach, and later on I got a job which didn't give me enough healing time to get one. Now I'm going on holidays to Spain and I have some free days before I go so Im wondering...if I get it done Wednesday afternoon, will I be already healed (actually will the swelling go down) so that when I fly on tuesday morning I'm all good again? How soon do you get a smaller piercing? Does anyone know if I could get a shorter one when I get my tongue pierced so I can change it myself in spain? :)

I used to have piercing.. but the time has gone.. now im a serous boy:-P

I have the usual lobes, the top of one ear and tragus, and then one just before the cartilidge starts on the other ear.
I recently got my nose done and while it hurt at the time i have had no problems since. Cant wait til i can change to a ring!!

I have been considering getting my belly button done also but i have a tiny belly button so i dont think it would look right.

I have plans for several more ear piercings though.

When I got my nose done it made my nose crunch up and my eyes water, but not through the amount of pain. While it still hurt it was because the nose is really sensetive, in the same way you crunch up your nose before you sneeze!!
I found it to be less painful than having the top of my ear pierced however mine did bleed a bit! Apart from that its been completely fine!! No pain or swelling what so ever.

Defnitely get it done with a needle. Guns are actually not supposed to be used anymore, especially near areas where there is cartilidge (upper nose, top ear etc) as it can shatter it and people have lost ears from it. Not nice.

And i agree take a friend to hold your hand!! Hope you have a good experience!!

My piercing

I am a male and I have had both my ears pierced since I was 11 years old (I'm 20 now). I feel naked without my cubic zirconia studs . A woman once said my earrings fit me because it gives me an edge and the clothes I wear let me pull it off without looking like an NBA player.

i quite like piercings... sadly, my body rejects or rejected junk metal that were a part of generic lobe piercings when i was smaller and i don't feel like scarring anything else in case it happens again.

i'd definitely get my septum (middle of nose), lower lip (to the left), and the more painful parts of the ear pierced. possible also get a surface piercing maybe at the nape of my neck or my inner forarms right below where the arm bends.

i think done right and if it heals wonderfully they look beautiful.

I have had a bunch and took them all out except my Monroe, because they all scared and i rather a diamond in my lip then a hole. its been a 6 years and i still have a hole where my belly ring was.

i only have two piercings: one per ear but i never wear them. i used to have two per ear but the top set closed up.

i dont really like facial/body piercings///
