yes its quite good - my sister has the purple poncho (and I have borrowed it at the moment). I think they would be quite simple to make - if you got nice alpaca wool. Can you knit? I used to be able to knit when I was younger but I think i've completely forgotten - I'd love to be able to knit. I think it would be quite therapeutic too. tellme - what do you think of the green striped one?

do you mean the grn/purp striped poncho?...

it's quite beautiful...reminds me of a striped polo from the new prada men's collection... ;) :flower:.

and no...i can't knit or crochet anyomore...i've completely forgotten how...but i thought i'd buy some wool jersey and add the fringe...fringe is easy...or tassels... :innocent:

yes i think thats the one - i nearly bought it over the winter but didn't for some reason...

look forward to seeing the results on the customisation thread!! ;)

i love this shot...this is the kind of shawl i like...

I just made myself a hand crochet shawl out of my own pattern. I can't believe how beautiful it turned out if I do say so myself. I'd post a pic but the batteries in my digital are dead. The thing that made it so nice is the yarn. I bought a very high quality, multi-color, mohair yarn and used this funky specialty yarn for the fringe.

good for you!!!...the yarn definitley makes a difference...my friend crochets really well and she made me a beautiful shawl from this yarn that i think she got on a trip to south africa...it's very raw and nubby and different natural tones...the yarn is fantastic and really makes the shawl...

it will look lovely with my new marni bag... :P :innocent:

Another thing that I wanted to add is that when I wore my cache poncho, I couldn't believe the compliments that I got on it. I wore it to a big casino and an old lady came up to me and asked me if she could take a better look at it. I walked but a table and I heard a woman say to her husband, oh, I've got to get one of those cute little shawls (it's a poncho, I wanted to say). :P

Another thing is this, if you are going to by a poncho from Cache, don't order it online. I bought mine in the store, it only cost $60 and is very similar to the one they are asking $158 for above. Also, in the store, they have a wonderful wide selection.

I bought mine in Nashville, and the girl in the store told me that Maritina McBride shops there all of the time. I really love that store and it is in most of the better USA malls.

I don't like cheap looking ponchos or wraps at all, and there are lots of them around.

I have an old-grandma style, beige, heavy-knit-wool shawl with thick wool tassles that I got at a church sale for a dollar :woot:

I love it

I bought a Cecilia DeBucourt shawl earlier this winter. I love it. It's cotton with interwined silk. It has been great for the chilly spring/summer days.

heres a cool one on hilary duff.

My poncho. I wore this to a football game last year, waaay before the trend, and some girl made the comment "Why is she wearing an afghan?" How much do you want to bet she is now wearing one of those freaky imitation-silk ponchos from Rue 21?

My shawl. I really loooove this, it's such a pretty sherbet orange... cost me a quarter at the thrift because the old ladies thought it was an old bed throw

I love the idea of a poncho, but I keep seeing them on tacky girls who aren't quite sure how to wear them. The ones you girls posted are fabulous, but have any of you seen those cheapie knit ones ... can't think of how to decribe them, other than that they have a huge resemblence to a piece of carpet. Ick.

TheSoCalledPrep, both of those are so pretty, you have wicked good taste. I bet the girl that made fun of you at the football game ran right out the next day to see if she could find the same one. It's always the way, they laugh at you and the next time that you see them, they are wearing one and pretending it was their idea, ya know.

Styleteenie, yes I know what you mean and they are tacky as can be. Oh well, people like that make it even easier for people like us to look good. :P
