Jesus, is TFS being sponsored by the Telegraph? The Buzz page is in love with them. Are people really that interested in Kate and Wills in here? I live in London and I see more references to those two in here than in the newspapers i read.

does anyone else think its strange that kate middleton did the same gap year program in chile that william did? she did the program months after he did.

i wonder how many other people tried to do that after it was reported in the press.

^ Yes, that has crossed my mind as well...Kate is now the Patron Saint of young women who want to 'marry well'!! (Which, BTW, is not such a bad thing- she certainly invested a lot in this relationship with no real promise of it amounting to anything there for quite a while...)

.

Kate will never have a numeral after her name because she will be queen consort (not queen regnant, like the current queen, who is queen in her own right, not the wife of the king).

can someone explain what this means?

Marrying a queen or a king does not make you a proper queen or king, you are just a consort. You do not rein, only the succession of the last monarch reigns regardless of who they marry, so Kate will never have a numeral.

The husband of the current queen was given the title of Price Phillip for example.

^However, I wonder, couldn't Kate end up just being titled princess when William is king? That's what happened in the case of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip. Did they ever say why Phillip wasn't given the title of king? Was it to make sure people knew that the Queen was the one with the power? Because that's rather understandable, I'm sure some people might have assumed these sort of things if he had been given the title of king. Also, slightly off topic, but I've herd some people speculate that when Charles is king Camilla will just remain a Duchess, is this correct? Or will she also become a queen consort? Royal titles can be bloody confusing that's for sure!

Technically Prince Philip isn't given the title "King" because for titles King ranks hire than Queen in precedence (I guess he could be a King consort and not outrank the Queen, but it's to distinguish title vs. sovereignty). So historically there's Queen Victoria & Prince Philip and Queen Anne & Prince George.

Then I think Camilla is going to lose "Duchess of Cornwall" get the title "Princess Consort," because Duke of Cornwall is an automatic title for the eldest son of the Monarch, so William will inherit that title when Charles becomes the new Monarch.

^Ahh okay thanks for clearing everything up for me. Glad to know I was on the right track about Prince Phillip not being titled "King." It makes total sense to me.

Is everyone getting excited for the Queens jubilee? It's only a few weeks away. And I'm already excited to see what Kate wears for it. And of course, the celebrations themselves. I'm just planning on watching the concert with my mom and sister and toasting to Queen Elizabeth.

The moderator team has decided to close all running-commentary mega threads like this one as the over-analyzing of a particular celebrity's behavior is not consistent with tFS' purpose. Instead, choosing to keep RHI focused on newsworthy pieces that would be deemed off-topic in the other forums. Thank you for understanding.
