Project Runway Season 3

is it just me or do ulis dresses all look exactly the same just in different fabric prints?

my thoughts about last nights ep are:
i think jeffrey won righteously. it was the most original looking piece among the others. you coud see his model really rocked and loved it in the u.s. even i could wear something like that on a good occasion.
- it was vincent's time to go. that rose on the back ruined his dress completely. plus the fabrics were boring.
- laura's outfit was gross. it really looked like a maid's outfit.
- uli does the SAME dress every single time, just from different fabrics!
- michael's was pretty, hence the madonna cups.
- kayne's dress wasn't as bad as the judges said. it was very pretty but maybe he could have toned it down a bit and it would have been perfect. the fabrics were nice.

but Americans for the most part have horrible taste in fashion....

How rude. I'm certain that for every country, there are people who have atrocious sense of fashion. But to say the entire population has a bad taste is over the line.

Jeff's model absolutely sold that dress. When she came around the corner it was like POW!

I'm so glad that Vincent and his "it just gets me off" comments are gone!!

hahah  thats so true. those comments were so unnecessary!

I think either Ulli or Kayne will be the next to go home. I liked Laura's dress but it seemed vintage Yves, Balenciaga, Patou or Givenchy. But, I liked her American model in the dress better than the french one. The french one was too pale for the dress to me.

Jeffrey deserved to win his dres was the best out of all of the designers though the fabric did seem Westoodish. But the cut and drape was to much for me. It could have been more refined with the outragouse pattern.

Uli I think is wainig. Her dresses all seem the same and I want to see her do something besides her staple looks.

Michael had a lapse in judgement. I expected him to come out with some thing more audacious and barely there, I wanted him to come out with something with alot of life. His design fell flat but it was only one challenge.

Kayne's was tasteless but it was Kayne. And I know some celebs who would have thought the dress was gorgeouse but alot of Americn celebs look like subdued whores when they dress up so I wouldn't take that in to acount.

Is it me or do all the American models besides Laura's walklike crap. Almost none of them are real models. The french models were great models and way better walkers.

What's with all the American bashing in this thread today?

I love Uli but am getting sick of her same dress/ different fabric too.

well, about the american bashing and comments that have appeared here lately. i agree that a LOT of the americans have bad taste in fashion, boring, tastless, and not fresh (i still see so many people wearing bellbottoms and flipflops or denim minis and tank tops, very tacky stuff anyway). europe has longer history in fashion design and most of the fashions take awhile to reach american consumers/taste and that is the reason why they are wearing stuff that is so 3 years ago. americans are also much more conservative in general than europeans. this said, i would love to see how this show would do in europe. i heard they are making (?) the english one. is this true? i have to get my hands on this. although i would love to see this done in paris of belgium as well. anyway, the tasks and outfits they have had are so boring on prw, only gowns gowns gowns.. blaah.. i think the dog challenge was one of the best.. i hope they do something else soon than just gowns..

but there are americans who do dress good as well! dont get me wrong. you just have to sort of go into certain areas or cities to find them. :)

If it reminds you of a Major designer then, where's the originality??

reread what i wrote.
the fabric reminded me of westwood, not the design.
westwood is generally more structured and fitted.

I thought this episode was great! I didn't love Jeffrey's dress, but I was happy to see him win again. He was totally-TOTALLY-robbed in the recycling challenge, and I say this as someone who likes Michael.

Also very glad that Vincent will be off--and "getting off" elsewhere.

Did anyone else think that Catherine Malandrino looked terribly chic on that boat, in those sunglasses?

Read again, it doesnt say the entire population of america, it says americans for the most part.

I wondered about Vincent going home............given that his model is in the final four. I suspected that someone would take his model and he'd go.

Im happy he's gone. Anyone watch the bonus videos????? He's nuts.

I think Jefferey's outfit looked like a picnic table cloth attacked the model, but on ACID.

you dont have to go to certain areas or cities to find an american that dresses well... that just doesnt make sense, there could be someone in the middle of nowhere who dresses really well people cant make such general statements

Cute and Organized is not somehing I will described his creation, did you run ou of words to described his-according-to-you high couture frock:innocent: I won't waste time to prove my taste in fashion for somebody like you who live in God bless where:flower:

......and yes p*ssy Lee is modern and of -the -moment, Thank you very MuchB)

we're not talking about the blue light shoppers at Wal-mart here, are we? Oh yes, Thats your demographic, I supposed:rolleyes: I was more referring to Red Carpet Warriors like Celebs and Hollywood Actresses and Rich Socialites....

I wonder if Paris will be laughing at Jeffrey's when it will remind them so much of a John Galliano or Viviene Westwood knock-off, the colors and choice of materials so deja vu:innocent: .... I'm sure it's sooo Original!

I love Kayne's, the flow and choice of color.......It's very unfair that they made the dress in Paris and the whole mood of paris influenced the dress and how stunning Kayne's and some , looked and feel in Paris and got lost in Translation in New York!

Point Taken:lol:

I'm not a fan of Kayne, I think he lacks a true sense of style but when it comes in this particular competition, his creation is the most beautiful one. Jeffrey's was just an utter mess.....Is it really that Original, people??? It's sooo copycat from Vivienne Westwood, and all got lost in the sea of yellow and plaid......I mean lets be honest here, Jeffrey will never become another John Galliano, thats for sure........And Lets not forget what he did to Angela's mom.....did that escaped your mind?
Im really not going to justify your posts by wasting my time arguing like this... I dont respect your taste or your eye for design and thats that... You have no clue where I have lived, but you can keep making a fool of yourself by insulting me for where I live at the moment if it makes you feel bigger. :)

Yup! If you put all of her dresses side-by-side, they'd all look eerily similar.

and lastly.........You're from Colorado, right? (p*ssy's such a B*tch!)

colorado or timbuktu... what does that have anything to do with anything? what's your point, really? many great designers came from texas, conneticut... not all designers come from major cities.

anywho.... ranger, i agree... i hope uli steps it up. i see her in the midst of being auf'd.

i somehow knew that jeffery was going to win this challenge. probably because everyone elses' dress looked bad. i actually think his dress was OK. i think i can relate to it being somewhat vivian westwood -ish but it also remined me of mcqueen's plaid dress (not entirely though). i also think he scored big points by how his model was presenting it. she had the look for it and her walk was great for his garment. i loved uli's dress. i know it's her signiture halter dress but i really like it. i think it looked better on the paris model than the NY one. wouldn't say it's 'couture' though. kayne's dress looked great from far, but far from good. i didn't like the gold fishnets fabric thing he was using. if it was a different fabric then it would have been nice. Vincent's gone finally!! Tim gunn must be real happy. hahaha

so what's the next episode about? did i hear Olsen twin?

Hey everyone! Lets keep it nice. This thread is about Project Runway, not about how america dresses. Let's keep it fun and lighthearted. :)

Jeff's dress was more emotional and capricious, very fem and I think they gave him the nod based on that. I thought the whole thing was messy though, drape is free and there's lots that could have been done with the print to create tension instead of just making it look busted, messy, angry, whatever. I'm surprised people would even make the McQueen/Galliano comparison, maybe when they were just getting out of csm. It's the childish, senior show element of Jeff's work that I think underminds his design. If he makes it to the end, and he should, I hope he finds a way to focus his energy...

I'm not trying to be rude or sacastic, but I honestly would like to know who are the many great designers who come from texas and conneticut...I can't think of any major designers who aren't based in major cities...
