Project Runway Season 3

I actually really liked Michael's dress. I thought it was a fantastic color and once the judges put those Maddonnaesque cups down, it looked gorgeous. Jeffrey's I could see being couture, and also Laura's,especially when it was in Paris.

on the video bonus, there's extra footage of the next episode. looks like it might be the olsen twins. the dresses the designers are working on seem to be fit for shorter "models".... short cocktail dresses.

so, funny. kayne is saying it's destiny's child. i remember, when he thought they would be designing for tara reid for the jetsetter episode. he's hilarious.

Thanks. I read the blog's and watched Vincent's exit interview but forgot about the bonus video. Will look at it shortly. ~hugs~

I am just glad Angela was auf'ed before this coutoure challenge....
Imagine what her's would have been like though! Flourshans all over it I imagine, since they are hand made!!

I loved Jeff's so much, to me all the others looked like something I had seen before.

I was amazed at how different the dresses looked on the different models. Uli's dress was stunning on her Parisian model and did not look as nice on Lindsay. The same with Kayne's and Laura's Parisian models--their dresses looked so much better in Paris.
However, Jeffrey's model rocked the runway in NY. She made that dress come alive. And Michael's dress looked much better on Nazri. The color on her was gorgeous. It was interesting to see the contrast.

listen to tim's podcast. lot's of behind the scene info for this episode.

tim discusses the basic element of couture.... which is hand sewing. couture dresses are not made to bought off the rack and worn on the red carpet. they are conceptual in design.... usually the idea and concept is then copied and trickled down to regular fashion. real couture dresses can cost over $100,000.

of all the dresses, jeffrey's was the most couture-like. for those who didn't understand why jeffrey's dress won, maybe a clear understanding of what true couture is may help.

Just because some people hated Jeffrey's dress doesn't mean they lack the knowledge and difference between pret-a-porter and haute couture. I could sort of see how people would think Jeffrey's mess was couture like in the vain of Galliano, but honestly it looks like a reject from the Heatherette runways. When Galliano does those weird cuts or silhouettes, he usually uses new or unexpected fabrics that could translate into his rtw collections. Jeffrey used ugly yellow plaid cotton. I guess you have to give him credit for sewing it by hand, but my mom does that too for her hideous outfits.

then, let me ask you.... who you thought should have won this challenge?

Did anyone find it interesting how the outfits looked so differently on each model?

Michael's dress looked much better on Nazri. The color was stunning on her.
And Jeff's model rocked the runway here. She sold it.
But Kayne's, Laura's and particularly Uli's models in France looked so much better in their creations. Uli's Parisian model looked so nice in the gown she created for her.

As much as I hated Jeff's dress, he rightfully won because the other dresses were worse than his or rehash of their previous works(Uli).

this is a bit off topic, but does anyone know what the brand of catherine malandrino's sunglasses are? they were gorgeous.

coachwife, I agree with everything you said about the models. I loved Kayne and Laura's Parisian models, but Jeff and Michael's models were better in America.

the think they all (excluding vincent) are very talented, i do feel Jeffrey's was more detailed but i automatically thought of vivienne westwood so it didn't seem as orginal but still very good. :D

I think his ego is what really turns people off

I was thinking.. Was it fair for Vincent to remove his pants and examine the pattern? Keith was eliminated for having pattern books so... Seems kinda borderline to me... Personally i wouldnt care about either incidents..

Like I said we have very different takes on this. Maybe you need to get your eyes checked cus Jeffreys was very cute and organized (and must i mention im not the only one who felt so? :) ) Maybe your fashion pallet is a bit underdeveloped or maybe youre too old. .

Cute and Organized is not somehing I will described his creation, did you run ou of words to described his-according-to-you high couture frock:innocent: I won't waste time to prove my taste in fashion, for somebody like you who live in God bless where:flower: ......and yes p*ssy Lee is modern and of -the -moment, Thank you very MuchB)

I would agree kaynes dress might fly off the rack in America faster, but Americans for the most part have horrible taste in fashion....

we're not talking about the blue light shoppers at Wal-mart here, are we? Oh yes, Thats your demographic, I supposed:rolleyes: I was more referring to Red Carpet Warriors like Celebs and Hollywood Actresses and Rich Socialites....

Take it somewhere outside the US that is very fashion forward and innovative such as Tokyo and Im pretty sure Jeffreys would be held in high regard while kaynes would be laughed at.....

I wonder if Paris will be laughing at Jeffrey's when it will remind them so much of a John Galliano or Viviene Westwood knock-off, the colors and choice of materials so deja vu:innocent: .... I'm sure it's sooo Original!

I liked the back of Kaynes dress but other than that and it was a bit stale and pagenty and it had no flare at all..

I love Kayne's, the flow and choice of color.......It's very unfair that they made the dress in Paris and the whole mood of paris influenced the dress and how stunning Kayne's and some , looked and feel in Paris and got lost in Translation in New York!

And yes I am from colorado, shut up .

Point Taken:lol:

I'm not a fan of Kayne, I think he lacks a true sense of style but when it comes in this particular competition, his creation is the most beautiful one. Jeffrey's was just an utter mess.....Is it really that Original, people??? It's sooo copycat from Vivienne Westwood, and all got lost in the sea of yellow and plaid......I mean lets be honest here, Jeffrey will never become another John Galliano, thats for sure........And Lets not forget what he did to Angela's mom.....did that escaped your mind?

last night, i did point out that jeffrey's dress reminded me off westwood, but his dress by all means was original and not a knock of westwood. it was only the plaid fabric that reminded me hers... but galliano and gaultier has used it as well. jeffrey still rocks!

If it reminds you of a Major designer then, where's the originality??

This is a competition, and if this was the case, lets bring back that b*tchy but brilliant, book-pattern thumping, guy.....what's his name?

I was wondering about that aso.

Jeff's model absolutely sold that dress. When she came around the corner it was like POW!

I'm so glad that Vincent and his "it just gets me off" comments are gone!!
