Project Runway Season 3

And then about Bradley getting Cher he says "How can you not know CHER? What self repecting gay man doesn't know Cher? I thought Bradley was gay, and now I just don't know"

Oh my gosh, I actually laughed outloud when I read that! Looks like Tim thinks Brad should have his gay card revoked!

I was surprised so many people sided with Angela's mother this week over Jeff (at least from the Bravo poll)! From what I saw on the episode, and on the bonus footage on the Bravo website, and read in Tim's blog, the story goes as such: Angela's mother picks out the colors and says she likes the dress. Once she sees the fabric and the dress-- before even trying it on-- she gets all worked up about it and decides she doesn't like the colors or the dress itself. Even though she'd already agreed to both. Jeffrey CERTAINLY has a right to be angry and upset, and especially frustrated. I definitely do not think he was unreasonably rude. He didn't YELL at Angela's mom, as she claims in the bonus footage, he kept his voice down, for pete's sakes!

And, to all those above who said "his past isn't an excuse for treating someone that way," did Jeff ever say that it WAS an excuse? I don't ever recall him saying, "I used to be on smack, so it's okay for me to treat someone like crap."

But really... Vincent winning? I didn't think his dress was flattering in the least! It made the model look completely frumpy, lumpy, and saggy in all the worst places. Uli definitely should have won!

I think Uli's time to win is coming, but then again you never know. Did anyone else think that Micheal's shirt-dress had some sort of maid-ish feeling to it? I dunno maybe it was the belt, but I loved the reversible idea. And I agree that Vincent's dress was blah. It was very unflattering and sort of wrinkly and saggy. and the collar...eh.

wow...i was soo dissapointed in last nights episode. the PR producers really need to step it up if they dont want their ratings to go down. i agree with everyone's comments so far!!

my PR quote of the day: Jeff "How did i get Angela's mom? I guess God was drunk today!" wow amazing jeff!:p
i hope he is in the top 3 along with uli and michael!

I think Vincent was given the win this week in order to justify them keeping him up to this point. We all know that the producers have a say in who wins, and we can tell he's being kept for good t.v. The collar on his dress looked off, sort of like the shoulders on his Miss USA gown....it just wasn't right.

I also think the winner of the icon challenge was decided by Tresemme. Michael's outfit was fantastic, but his model also had the best look for a hair care ad. If you think about it, it was impossible for Laura to win that challenge. Her model has such short hair, that she didn't even meet with the stylist to disucss a Katherine Hepburn look.

I'm also really disappointed by Robert. You would think that someone who worked designing for BARBIE would be more adventurous, or use a wider range of colors. He was so sweet and funny on the show, but he really didn't represent himself well on the runway.

Uli is awesome....she does so much with patterns, while everyone else shies away from them....she should be given credit for that alone.

I don't like Jeffrey and I don't get why so many people are all for him. He's a jerk and has been one since the beginning of the show and I am suprised he has gotten away with it so far and that no designer has called him out to his face. If I were Angela I would not had been so congenial about the situation. I think his designs like Vincent's are overthought and only beautiful in his eys. If he makes it to the final 3 along with Vincent I officially boycott the show forever.
Vincent should not have won!
Go Ulli! She rules!
Here are my predictions for the top 3.

1. Michael ( he is a shoe in there is no other designer who is like him besides maybe Kayne)
2. Uli (She like Michael is one of a kind on the show, very under the radar and more of a designer than a personality)
3. The third is a toss up iether Kayne or Laura

And I felt so bad that Laura's mom had to find out about the pregnancy that way. All Laura said was, "Oh, you didn't know?".

Did anyone else get a vibe that Laura's mom wasn't as particularly happy as a grandmother-to-be usually is? Maybe it was just because she was stunned... I don't know.

I agree with your assessment of Laura's mom. People like that really annoy me. Even though she is the grandmother, it's not for her to make a judgement as to whether her daughter and son-in-law,who are successful people, should or should not have more children. It doesn't look like the 5 she has are holding her back. My own mother had the same reaction when my brother and wife announced number three pregnancy. Be happy for them and start needlepointing another Christmas stocking!

I think the producers are trying to make the point that not every customer is a fashion model or rock chick (Jeffrey!) and a designer needs to be "well rounded" in what they can do IF they are going to win Project Runway. Obviously, once you are out there, you can pick your niche market and do whatever you want. Chloe had her own store in Houston, and she was not designing for fashion models, but more mainstream women. I have to watch the entire show tonight as I only saw the beginning, but did see plenty of steam coming out of Jeffrey's ears when he saw who he was designing for. When I went to bed, I fully expected to learn in the morning that he lost. I thought Kayne was so sweet with Michael's mom. Loved his comment about the rhinestones on her shoes. As a former fatty who was probably teased so much in childhood, he understood how hard it was for her to find clothes that would look good. Can't wait to see what he did.

I thought Kayne's comments about Michale's mom were great too. He was the only one who attempted to match his personality with that of the model, instead of just trying to get the skinniest/prettiest one still up there.

well, Bradley isn't gay so he wouldn't have a card to revoke:p

I agree with the masses... Kayne was incredible with Michael's mom and I actually really liked the outfit he designed for her. OMG, I did NOT like the outfit vincent made and didn't think it was worthy of winning the challenge, but whatever. I felt sorry for Angela's mom... Jeffery wasn't very nice to her. I have to say though, I still like Jeffrey and think his designs are beautiful. I wish he would have won the recycled materials challenge because his dress was really beautiful. I love Jeff and Michael... they're the two I'm rooting for!!

Sooo agreed, on almost every level! Jeffrey was a jerk, plain and simple.

I second that comment.

He needs a reality check... and he also needs to realize that he can't cause drama on TV in general because they will always manage to make you look bad. I mean, they have editing equipment so that they can take things out of context. The editors and creators of reality shows take a lot of things out of context just so it would be so much more juicier for the viewers and rack in the ratings.

I think the wisest thing to do was to just back out of that kind of drama like Michael is doing. It's a good idea to just play nice with everyone. It's not Survivor where you have to go out and back stab people. It's a fashion show where it is determined on how well you do your job.

I also believe that as much as I hate it, Jeffrey is going to be in the finals or at least the semi-finals, because without him, there isn't much drama. He creates drama... and it's what they need. He's just as Heidi pointed out, the next Santino.

purexelegance, I agree with you, except about Jeffrey being the next Santino. Not only was Santino much more talented, at least he was clever and amusing.

To quote Rich from FourFour, about Alison being kicked off last week:
"Why not throw off Jeffrey, whose routinely unclever criticism of his peers was already old during the first episode?"

i thought vincent's dress looked fine on its own, but on the model, it just didn't fit properly in my opinion. i didn't like it that much. they probably gave him that win because it was a complete turnaround from his usual eccentric work. the show's getting blah but i'm still hooked. i loved uli's and i thought she should've won. the monotonous domination on the runways should have assured a win for her and the look really was superb. i like jeffrey, the jerk that he is according to some. i think they all have to grow up though. angela's like one of those bullied kids in school and mean mommy (oh keith!) came to confront the bully in jeffrey. really immature for everyone involved.

I hate to say this...but I think Jeff will be in the final 3. Why:

1.There is always a villan in the final 3- witness Santino, Wendy (over Austin!!)
2. Said villian creates drama in final 3, but never wins, or even gets 2nd place.
3. Said villian has more talent in being a jerk than in great design.

It's a PR formula.

I forgot that Uli has already won... didn't she win the dog challenge? I think I forgot about b/c I wish Alison had won that one.

So I guess weve pretty much decided this show is a crock. The collar on vincents dress was droopy and insane. I dont blame jeffrey for not being able to design something of this sort. A designer cant be expected to design anything...His talent is in designing for certain body types...

I just found this blog:

http://bloggingprojectrunway.blogspot.com/

and it has a front-cover reprinted story from Entertainment Weekly on Project Runway.

Also, I just started listening to the exit interviews on bravotv.com .... gives a great deal of insight and I have more appreciation of Vincent now.

I would agree that Jeffrey was a jerk, but wouldn't anybody if they had to deal with a porker who was so flip floppy and indecisive that might cause you to lose, when you know you could have made something truly beautiful if you had a model. I also think that it was totally unfair to Jeffrey when they asked Angela what she thought of her mother. They didn't ask anybody else what they thought of their mother or sister.
Also I was very confused by Michael Kors insult of " It looks like Comme des Garcons in the Amish Country." Comme des Garcons is an extremly profitable respectable brand, so what is the problem with it looking like that. I was trying to figure out how that was an insult for the longest time. I guess Michael Kors thinks American design is supposed to be boring like his clothes and that there is no room for creativity in America's next great designer.
