Project Runway Season 3

and michael kors' statement of "dressing a girl at each stage of her life?"
Yea, that was really weird. Not only did I not see how that applied to Jeffrey's collection, but I would love Michael Kors to show me one major designer who uses that "concept".

karma to both of you!!
this is what i was trying to say sarah13...
sure everything in fashion is influenced by something else, but jeffrey kept claiming this "innovation" and "edginess," but i didn't see any of that...
i just kept seeing a very jumbled collection of a bunch of different aesthetics...
and michael kors' statement of "dressing a girl at each stage of her life?"
i doubt the girl that wears a green striped jacket, sequined tank and skinny white leather pants is going to wear a red polkadot sundress... :innocent::lol:
(but i could be wrong...)

Haha, I couldn't agree more, Kimair! That's something I still can't comprehend...
the judges said he had a cohesive collection, but there were two pieces that downright didnt fit in...
then the judges said that he dressed a woman for every stage in her life, and I thought "not really!" He showed us a babydoll dress in polka dots and bouffant hair, then he shows up this punk chick with leather pants and sequined tops. It went from romantic (or trying to be) to this rocker girl. I just didnt get it. He may have shown different junctures of a woman's life, but c'mon, let's admit it- it sure as h**l wasnt the same girl.

I dont know... I just thought his collection was so forgettable and I'm ultra-disappointed. I really though Uli did the best job... she dressed the same woman from morning to evening, for every event you can think of. Somehow, I thought that was more important... she should've gotten much more recognition for that.

i love you guys.....
so passionate about my passion!

i would love to hear the inside story about what the heck happened to michael! :(

Hahah, Meme, I know how you feel! When you found this site, and subsequently this thread, didnt you just feel like you were home and with your people??

Laura REALLY should have kept the red dress and the chartreuse coat that Gunn told her was ugly.

i didn't care for michaels or laura's collection.
but michael's was just

it really was between Uli's and Jeffrey's collection.
i'm glad jeffrey won but it could have gone either way.
:mowhawk:

i liked the colorfull outfitts by michael but thats about it
/i hated the tie up shirts he had. just ugly.
But his music was amazing! does anyone know who mixed/made it?

Uli's collection surprised me too... I thought it was really impressive. I think I liked every piece she made. I didn't like all of Jeff's pieces, but still felt his collection was very creative, hip, and innovative. Well, Uli's was too I guess. All in all, I would have been happy if either of them had won, but I was rootin' for Jeff just because I liked his work throughout the season way better than Uli's. This season seemed to go so fast I can't believe it's already over. *cry*

eww jeffrey. . it looked cheap. . stuff that would be sold at target-ish not that i hav anything agaisnt target.

uli is going to do better. everyone loved hers. i think they picked jeffrey because he took risks and improved and stuff but uli is a better designer. her stuff will sell.

i liked lauras stuff too. but some stuff was too costumy.

michael's was okay. . i've seen stuff like that before

Did any one else hate the silver fabric Uli used? I think I might be the only one. It just looked like something straight out of a disco to me.

Blogging Project Runway had this item regarding the music:]

http://bloggingprojectrunway.blogspot.com/

it seems that there are about 25 e-mails in the box asking for finale music and just as many letting us know that Jeffrey's is available online. Thank you ALL for the links. Here is a note from Jeffrey's friend Mike. We are working on getting the music from the other designers as well. We are here to serve!

Hey there BPR,

It really was amazing, even though, I have to admit, I knew about it for weeks now. I still was screaming along with everyone else when they said his name. I'm so proud of him.
The music sounded great with the show. I'm really happy with it.
If anyone's interested they can get the song, actually two versions of it, at www.facecrime.com
And our myspace is myspace.com/theoriginallifter.

Thanks again for doing all you do with your site and keeping the fun going between Wednesdays.

Take care,

Mike

HERE is a link to Jeffrey's Myspace where you can also hear the music from his show.

I thought the music Jeffrey chose was completely not in synch with what he was showing. His clothing had a sort of upbeat, playful feeling to it (polka dots and carnival tent stripes), yet the music was sort of downerish. I thought he could have made a better choice.

Maybe it's better for Uli that she didn't win. She even said, second is a good place for her. She got tremendous exposure in the fashion world, but now she doesn't have the contractual obligations that Jeffrey will have. I think Kara Saun had said that buyers and clients told her that they probably would not have sought her out if she had won because they would have thought she was too busy, so 2nd was better for her. Maybe the same will happen with Uli.

Yeah, I liked that chartreuse coat too! Maybe not with the print dress but I wondered why Tim hated it so much. Perhaps it was one of those "you had to see it in person" things.

Uli's collection had its moments but as someone wrote (the Fugly girls, maybe?) at times it was borderline Chico's.

Jeffrey clearly deserved the win - but when they went to his work studio I was a little startled. It made me wonder if it was even fair to have someone with his experience in the competition. Laura has only made clothes for herself, Uli's a stylist, and Michael is relatively inexperienced. Jeffrey, on the other hand, has had a successful clothing business for a few years.

Of course, people thought it wasn't fair that Robert, the famous Barbie guy, was on PR and look how far he got. ^_^

TOTALLY AGREE! I hated the music - it was just depressing, and completely not in line with his colorful show. Plus, for the first show, I really wanted something faster and with a better beat. BLAH.:yuk:

Oh good! I thought I was the only one that loved the chartreuse outfit - seriously, I thought it was really good. I was really disappointed that it got vetoed.

I really liked Uli's. I mean if i look over all at her work I don't think she did gthe best, but her final collection was by the best!!!!!! I guess they didn't let her win b/c like Nina said " she already had orders for Uli". Uli doesn't need the help of the title of "winner" to make her collection sell.
And did you guys hear about how Michael and Brandy are now dating? he can just work now w/Brandy's money backing him. hehe
i was always wondering which way he went.....I was surprised he was stright.

Uli's collection showed very well, but despite her mass appeal colors, prints & flowy aesthetic it has all been done before in some way shape or form. I'm sure she'll do very well commercially though. Jeffrey had something new to offer. It is a design contest after all.

I also am a converted Jeffery lover. I went from hating him, to respecting him, then to thinking he should be the downright winner. Congrats to him!

Im so sad for Michael...he has so much potential in him, though. I think all 4 of these designers have a market that they will be perfect for. I'm excited to see where they go in the next few years!!

Oh my god! I was just watching extreme makeover on the Style Channel, and Vincent was DEFINATELY one of the family/friends at the revealing. Some stand up comedian was the one getting a makeover, and at his revealing, there was Vincent...clapping and smiling his goofy smile! SO weird.

the next steps from the designers, from wwd...
i had a feeling jeffrey wouldn't do the mentorship with inc...

With money in his pocket and hype surrounding his name, "Project Runway" winner Jeffrey Sebelia now plans to expand his Cosa Nostra line to a full collection.

Sebelia, 36, won the finale of the reality TV program on Wednesday night and received a $100,000 check. He said he has not yet decided whether he would accept the yearlong mentorship with Macy's private label, INC International Concepts Design.

Cosa Nostra is sold at high-end specialty stores such as Maxfield in Los Angeles, Patch in Saint-Tropez, France, and Harvey Nichols in London and Hong Kong. "I had stores that told me it would be career suicide to go on ‘Project Runway,'" said Sebelia, who wore his own sweater and pants with a Diesel shirt and tie to the finale. "But the great thing about this show is it gives you so much exposure. I have no regrets."

Meanwhile, the other finalists — and even those who weren't — are reaping rewards from appearing on the program. Runner-up Uli Herzner said she plans to continue her work as a celebrity stylist, but now will dress them in her own designs. Though known for her glamorous evening gowns, finalist Laura Bennett said her next step would not be Bergdorf's ready-to-wear floor, but rather a moderate-priced line accessible to the average woman — perhaps even patterns on a maternity collection.

The fourth finalist, Mychael Knight, who had been voted crowd favorite, has been flaunting his look with teeth braces and on Thursday launched his Web site mychaelknight.com.

One doesn't have to be a finalist to reap "Project Runway" success. Attending a party Wednesday night to watch the final episode and crown the winner, contestant Alison Kelly said she is now designing an exclusive collection for shopbop.com under the label Dahl. Malan Breton, another contestant voted off early, showed during New York Fashion Week and is opening an eponymous Manhattan store in November. "I can't even walk down the street, it's so crazy," said Breton. "And that's just from being on two episodes."

Also......I would think that they would start picking winners that would make a name out of Project Runway.

I maybe wrong but none of the past winners have made that major of an impact.....and I dont think Jeffrey will.

I think Laure and Uli could go strait to stores and many stores......

Its like American Idol wants to find people that will be successful and sell records now its a powerhouse, etc

I think if they picked Laura or Uli.....there would be a direct line of success and quickly as well .....

Chloe had a good business mind but she is Houston, Texas bound and always was.

I think Laura and Uli could have...and will have a larger impact in big cities.
