God bless McQueen.

why must those who keep the company of the muses be the first to leave us?

In the fashion universe there are many designers, a couple of artists but only very few true geniuses.

Lee McQueen, we'll miss you.

R.I.P.

Don't know what else I could add, his untimely death is so sad.

Mr.Lee McQueen,
You were a true unique in every sense of the word. Why you felt you had to end your life no one knows, but we are all very sad to see that you are gone now.

rest in peace,

Emilie.

Fashion's Kurt Cobain?

I was wondering how he, or anyone else, was going to top the last two collections.

Man, he owned AW09/10 and SS10.

Now he'll own AW10/11. As designers put the finishing touches to their collections/ shows can they do other but think of Lee and, in some way or other, pay homage.

There's some logic in suggesting shows might be cancelled as a mark of respect so, whilst I can't see that happening, the challenge, the appropriate behaviour, is that designers demonstrate their reverence via the ingenuity of their tribute.

We will be watching.

I really hope that firstview.com allows all of his collections to be viewed and appreciated for free (as they did when Yves Saint Laurent passed away).

What a sad, sad day, we're all in such shock.

God, i am shocked right now. He was so young and we needed his beautiful designs. I feel terrible..

I'm curious to see if his collections for this season will continue to be shown. I think they should, for the sake of his last and final collection. An homage to his talent.

Still very shocked and in disbelief. Too sudden...

I often base my personal designs (typography layouts, illustrations, etc) off fashion. Alexander was a heavily referenced designer for me. I loved his ability to create such a romanticized juxtaposition, digital vs organic, sweet vs bitter, dreariness vs the light, manifestation vs simplicity...

I feel that his work rivaled Dior Couture, Chanel's signature tweed, etc...he was a very worth competitor as a designer and beyond talented. It would've been great to see the potential of his works in the future as the more prestigious and older fashion houses hand their talent to the younger, up-in-coming designers.

He created a distinct "world" within his shows. It's saddening and a huge loss to know that there will no longer be any worlds to escape and fantasize in that will be created by Alexander McQueen anymore.....

Rest in Peace.
