Rodarte S/S 10 New York

I did makeup at Max Azria which was right after this show. Let me tell you about those tattoos, amazing as they were, they were practically markers and it was impossible to get off the girls. We had to practically body paint them at Azria. Even though they complimented the collection well, I could not believe that they would put do that to those girls. They are going to have a hell of a time getting that off later.

this is the first Rodarte collection i've ever really liked. it feels like they've kept their signature characteristics but matured them.. it doesn't look like candy or prom dresses but real, grown up, interesting clothing.. i'm impressed. ^_^

this is the first time i'm amazed by rodarte. i've always thought they had talent to make something as good as this, and there were always some dresses i liked a lot, but i was never really in love with their collections. this is gorgeous. i hope they'll keep evolving.

I am torn. I really really hate those dangly shredded bits. So aesthetically unpleasant. But I understand the purpose they serve because they have to move beyond their last few collections while staying true to their vision. I like the use of prints, I think its a good next step for them. IDK, I do like it, but it lacks the prettiness of the last few collections. Even though they were hard, they were still very feminine. This is much harder.

This left me speechless! The tattoos, the pieces, the gothic feel! OMG!

oh god i love this but it's right in time for Halloween, not S/S....that being said, it's completely and utterly brilliant

Very interesting. One place where i see them evolving a lot is in how they use materials like leather, which changed a lot from fall to spring. I'm in love with the jacket on Eniko, for example.

Deja vu. They have been doing the same piecemeal collage art-n-craft thing constructed on a mannequin for what, 5 seasons now? While it is the "in" look, I don't see them as capable of moving beyond this to actually create other innovative looks that rely on designing, cutting and tailoring techniques. The earlier works that rely on the more traditional techniques were quite poor. It wasn't until the collage trend took off (done by Margiela, Balenciaga, etc.) that they hit their stride, but this has its limits.

Wow wow, this is amazingly gorgeous:wub::crush:...It's much more savage than I expected. I'm glad they continue to explore and define their signatures yet manage to keep it fresh and relevant. Some of the dresses are TDF
