Rodarte S/S 10 New York

too much, they need to learn to hold back a lil. i dont have a problem with wearability but actual design. i understand their whole thing is to do patchwork type thing, throwing different fabrics together, but it looks so amateur and random.. like there is no design. there is no shape or foundation, it's all just cut strips of fabric. take them off, one by one and you're left with nothing. they're embellishers, not designers. again that's my opinion :flower:.

does anyone else feel that it doesn't seem like a spring/summer collection?
though i love it, it's all a little too dark

Im uber disappointed. I love Rodarte but this season it seems they've taken the arts/craft aesthetic a little too far for my taste. They've lost the elegant sheen that was present in past collections.

Everything here is too messy and too much for me. At least when they had crochet knits and 'witchy' looks from the past, they balanced it with a bit of polish and refinement. This collection appears to be more costume than it is fashion.

Very good, not unexpected but strong nevertheless. The Alla and Dorothea dresses are my favourites, I like the little pops of colour amongst the gothic undertones

Amazing to see how much they've evolved, lots of really interesting textures/fabric combinations here. I remember when they first arrived on the scene how much i disliked them, thought they were all about those pretty little party dresses. theyve really proved me wrong.

^you too? i was ambivalent as well. i thought they were often too derivative but i think they're beginning to find a distinct voice.

it is beautiful just not for summer.. the necklines are wayyy too high to sell .
sometimes designers underestimate what difference "little" details like that make. but they should know and learn over seasons specially at these pricepoints.
i wanna love it and buy it but i simply can't as i won't be wearing it and by "I" i mean a whole lot of the people in my neighbourhood and elsewhere :(
some of the dresses look like bustierdresses with draping.. which would be great if the draping was removable?
intrigued to know if they will offer a better neckline during market..?
the last set of black dresses look great though!

okay now that i've taken a look at the collection, it all seems too similar to last season's.
same idea, different colour palette. i like it but i'm not that excited.

I can appreciate the textures and the unusual look of their pieces and everything, but in the end it just isn't my cup of tea: it always looks too crafty, like last season it was like papier mache.. It's not at all solid enough for me, I'm afraid.
