So You Want to Become a Model? (PLEASE READ POST #1 BEFORE POSTING)

^^ Thank you both for success wishes, and MikChick, I haven't heard from you in a long time, I take it that you just got done with exams or something, hope you did good on them and good luck in whatever career you choose.

Yeah well, I still want to model but my measurements aren't okay and it's very hard. :) (I don't know if I'm able to say this) so yeah.... ;)

But! Let us know how it went, kay?

^^ Ya, I plan on sharing my open call experiences kind of like a story type thing, good luck with the measurements and hope you get to do the modeling you want to do.

Finally the time is coming after many delays it seemed, I'm going to NY next week, got the hotel booked and planned visits.

I'm going by models.com top mens agencies suggestion, and only visiting the top ten because I only want to get signed knowing I could work successfully, not be on a board for any agency and not book anything.

There are some things I will swap though, ford only has open calls for women, so I'll visit Boss models instead of them, DNA doesn't hold any open calls, so I'll try to call them and see if they do anything to see a potential new face in person. Public Image, what happened to them? I wish IMG would have kept a male board now basically it is gone with the fall of PI.

Basically though, I think it will come down to the polaroids, I just hope I can look like I do in a mirror in the pics they may take, at the moment I may not be as photogenic as a model should, but if the agency thinks I have potential then I would do what it takes to improve it.

Anyone got any last minute suggestions?

Basically, you are going to knock the doors of New York's agencies ?
I'm going to New York too, in 2 weeks, so I may do the same thing.

I was just wondering if someone could give me some advice or..whatever haha.

I've always been told I should model. When I was in Tokyo in a boutique, the designer came out to tell me I was very pretty and would do very well in the Japanese modeling industry. I honestly want to model very badly and I think I might have a look that could work for some agencies. I was signed with a fairly low-key agency but I never really got any jobs due to my height. It's always my height that ruins everything for me even though people might like my look. I'm 5'4" and it sucks for the fashion industry. Is there any way possible that I could make it in the fashion industry at this height? Should I try to apply to some of the higher end agencies and see what happens?

You should apply to agencies that focus on commercial jobs rather than those focusing on high fashion jobs :flower:
Just apply and you see what happens ;) This might have said a million of times before, but make sure you apply only to respectable, well working established agencies. Lots of luck for you :flower:

Thanks for your advice! [:
I definitely will apply to some agencies in Chicago and hopefully some will like me despite me being vertically challenged.

No need to thank ;)
Just give it a try and let us know afterwards ;) Make sure they don't charge you money for anything and you go clearly through every paper before signing (with clearly I mean take it home with you and check the conditions precisely)...:flower:

Ford Models (Kate Somers)

Next Model Management (Keri Claussen, Stephanie Shiu, Yasmin Warsame, Andi Miuse)

What is the best agency in Toronto?
Or the agency with the most successful models?

elmer olsen = most successful models

good mother agent = chantale nadeau

(look down the list of top models at modelresource.ca for their mother agencies)

I(...) I'm 5'4" and it sucks for the fashion industry. Is there any way possible that I could make it in the fashion industry at this height?
No, not as model. Even commercial modeling is nearly out of reach at 5'4". I won't even comment what some call "petite modeling". There are few jobs for short girls and millions of short girls who want to become models.

Should I try to apply to some of the higher end agencies and see what happens?
Not fashion agencies, miracles won't happen. You'd just waste your time and money.

Sorry for giving you such straight answers but it won't help you giving you false hope.
