So You Want to Become a Model? (PLEASE READ POST #1 BEFORE POSTING)

Sorry, i don't know every agency in Singapore, but i'll try to show you the best ones, i know ;)

Singapore :

-IMG Models (Denise Keller etc. but i think they closed down business)
-Ave Models (Coco Rocha, Ksnenia Kakhnovich)
-Cal Carries Models (Hye Rim Park, Karmen Pedaru)

Taiwan :

-PT Models (Du Juan, Natasha Livak, Zdenka Barcalova, Monja Wolf)

In Taiwan is Dolls Models one of the best agencies

I was talking to another mom at my daughter's agency and she just came back from making the rounds in NYC. She said that most of the big agencies were looking for ethnic appearing girls. Her daughter has dark hair and eyes but she was told that she ***Edited to remove weight talk, please see Community Rules. *** and grow a few inches (she's 14). She does have a somewhat ethnic look even though she is white. What do you think? Are they looking for these type girls and not so much of the blue eyed blondes?

does anyone on here know of good modelling agencies in aus? just general commercial shoots nothing high end i used to do some modelling in perth and looking at maybe getting back into it....thanks!

Chic have a commercial division.. Scoop, I think it's called.. where commercial girls can work quite well (in syd)

I was hoping for advice. I'm a little over 5'7 and a half and I've been told I have a unique face good for modeling. I'm 17, so I don't think I'll grow that much more, if at all. My measurements definitely fit in the usual requirements. Is there any chance I could do runway? And what are the best agencies in California?

poise : Sorry, but 170.18 cm is far too small for runway. Dont forget, most runway models are between 177cm and 189cm tall.

actually, 172.1, 172.7 in the morning, but I'm guessing that's still too short. thanks for responding though.

Hey :)
Have you ever heard about Double Face Agency from China (http://www.doubleface.com.cn/)
It is seemes to be really good :>

I think the ones who did bad comments abour doubleface models, clearly dont know much about chinese market...

Doubleface is in Schenthzen clearly the leader, and is in all chinese on the agency able to provide the biggest monney gurantee, around the same level as the best Tokyo agencie can provide.
This no sense to mix chinese and Hong Kong agencies, it is completly different about work, different about visa, ...they have different requirements in both market, and the monney guarantee a girl can get in Doubleface will ALWAYS be higher than ANY hong Kong agency can provide.
Schentzen is a place full of big monney jobs, always keep in mind that high commercial pay much more than high fashion for 99% of the girls...and in Schentzen double face has probably for them alone 50% of all jobs of the city.

Thanks a lot for your help fashiongirl28 :flower:
Does anyone know other good ones too?

Which are the 5 best agencies in Seoul, Singapore and Taiwan?

Seoul: jennifer, Woman, DCM (jennifer mainly high fashion the others 2 high commercials)

Taiwan: Fashion (run by owner of scouting czech scouting agency PMST) fashion has really big part of the booking there as they have 3 boards (fashion, new faces, and queens). behind them there is Dolls and exit which are still ok, but clearly a level under Fashion. Notice that taiwan has no really any high fashion jobs, only high commercials.

Singapore: Ave is great, has close collaboration with top european agencies (IMG...) to develop book of new faces. i know less well that place, so it might be few more OK too.

when im a bit older and taller i would love to do runway! right now im 13 and 174cm so i hope i grow a lot.

Is right now just a bad time for models seeking overseas placement?
Work at my agency has been really slow and I really want to move on to overseas markets but I heard that agencies are downsizing. So when is the best time for a new face to try to move on up during a recession?

For sure agencies adjust their way of work due the current crises, but to limit the number of girls on board is usually not the option choosen, as less girls means also more risk not to have the right girl needed for a job.

The stay of girl who dont work will be shorten quicker than before, the test expenses will be reduced, the pocket monney might be reduced, all those things, but a girl with some potential will always have her chance to go.
Summer coming is always big time for new faces, as many school girls can only work start in summer anyway, so good time or not, the board of the agencies in the coming weeks, will be at maximum capacities like every year at this season...

I just went on this egencies website and at the moment they have lots and lots of new girls, does it matter what time you apply? I mean If i applied now would I have less chanse of getting in than if I did in 6 months time or wouldnt it make a difference?

^summer/spring is pretty much the best time for new models to po up as fashion weeks start in septmeber, so the agencies will be quite busy with their own girls an dont have too much time caring about newbies. november/december is generally a fairly quiet time and in february/march you have fashion week again.
So if you want to apply, you should do it now :flower:
