Summer Courses and Home/Online Study

I am going to attend the Pratt one this summer. Does anyone know what they do?

I went to one at the Art institute in Chicago when I was in H.S. It was pretty cool b/c I learned begginer info on different parts of the fashion industry. We sketched designs, learned some very basic pattern making, CAD, etc..

im attending the the RISD one this summer, just went up to providence this weekend for the pre-view, i really liked it alot & i cant wait for the summer.

you must be rich, parsons is over 40 000 a year...
well, ANYWAY, the fashion institute of technology has great summer and saturday programs if you're interested, and its affordable and i've been there many times, and the experience was well worth it.

On-line Fashion Courses?

I everybody...
I am very very interested in taking some courses in fashion design / stylism... But, I am living in Shanghai... so, I would like to find some online courses ... Could you, please, recommend or suggest something...?? It could be in French or English ...

i know academy of art has a whole fashion online school. i think it's for a bachelor's. maybe you'd be interested in that. ;)

hi! do you have some books you could recommend for a beginner in fashion drawing? thanks!

9 Heads by Nancy Riegelman comes highly recommended. My sister who's just completed her degree in fashion design told me it was-and still is-her bible. Not cheap but worth it I'm told.

If learning from home is what interests you, I recommend the following:

Nine Heads by Nancy, Fashion-Incubator.com with Kathy Fasanella and The Reader's Digest Complete Guide to Sewing.

thanks a lot both!
I read some reviews about 9 head it s said to be a bible as you said. But the book seems to be very huge. Is it ok even if i am a fresh beginer? What i want to learn is especially menwear drawing. Well, i ll try to borrow it first. Thanks :)

ultimately i bought nine heads on amazon for about 50€ . I am eager to receive it:p

Thank you! i tried to find it in a library but this book is difficult to get in France so i bought it according to you comments about it. I hope it wont be too difficult for a beginer. Wait and see :D

I'm thinking of taking some online courses from The Academy of Art, but for $700 dollars, I'm starting to rethink my options. Has anyone done any online courses from them?

^Is that the one in San Francisco? I was just going to say that they have home courses, and it seems to be a pretty good school. I think its only in Fashion Merchandising though.

I would never, ever, ever recommend taking any patternmaking classes on your own, lol.

And I have to second the 9 Heads book.....it was one of my textbooks for school (the writer is also a professor) and its amazing and worth the money.

Yeah it's the one in San Francisco. I got accepted into the school, but sadly I cannot fly over there. :( I really wanted to take some fashion journalism classes just to practice writing about runway collections. :p

The Fashion Campus is a little bit expensive for what they really offer, if you prefer the home school you should buy a lot of fashion drawing and illustration books in Amazon and begin with it.

i've just received 9 heads the book is really amazing even for a beginer. Thank you for your advice! ;)
