The 4-5 piece French wardrobe #6

^I checked out the camisole too and I didn't like it either. The color was great, more of a brown based rust, rather than orange, but it did feel like cheap polyester and it looked like it:shock: Also, the stitching was very poor, it puckered at places and the way it was partly lined was poorly executed. I could go on:innocent:

Betina: Well, I lived at an art-school, so maybe my impression of the danish is a little biased:wink: Do you still have a picture of the trench you returned? Was the buttons placement intentional or a mistake from the manufacturers side do you think?

Too bad about the camisole!

Well, I have no clue  what do you consider to be "very danish"?

I do not think it was intentional - and if it was, who makes a coat where you can not use the pockets? I was not able to get a refund, but I got a gift certificate. It was a very small amount of money and I have found things at that store a lot of times, so I did not want to go further with it.

Hello, just posting an update ... So happy to be back in this thread, it really inspires me, as do all of you. :flower:

I received both my GAP and COS orders and was quite pleased with them. I have to say GAP sizing is quite large, I ordered an L (large size) and it just hangs off of me. I like both items though, I wore the white sweater oversized and it would look amazing with a black & tight leather skirt, I think. The problem is, I managed to spill soup down the front of it today, it is soaked. Have put it in the wash and am sincerely hoping the stain goes out - why am I such a klutz? And the striped top I got is very casual and cute, I wore it with a midi tied in a knot and it looked pretty cute. As far as the COS stuff, I am absolutely in love with the striped top, it is amazing. So soft, great material ... just love at first sight! The sheer black tee is also great, though I haven't worn it as much yet. And as for the circle black top, I do like it, but it is quite big, will have to consider how to wear it. Might look good with denim shorts in the summer. All in all, some pretty good purchases!

Right now I have my eye on the below ASOS camisole ... It looks gorgeous, though I am a bit fussed about the material - it is polyester. However, I really don't want silk as I don't have the time to handwash it or dry clean, so I am not sure ... I also found a girl on a fashion blog wearing this exact cami and it looks like it wrinkles a lot. It looks perfect to me, but this detail threw me off slightly. I also love this leather jacket from Nelly, which is oversized. I cannot quite afford it before my paycheck so I do hope it is still available by the 20th of April. And I don't mind the material as I'm really trying not to wear leather anymore. And finally, I really want a nice white shirt (can you believe I don't have even one?) and I really like this one from GAP, it's very casual and I love the dot detail. I'm really satisfied with their cotton.

Asos.com, Nelly.com, Gap.eu

All three are such staple items and I can really see myself wearing them a lot, though the camisole I might be a bit self-conscious about ... I don't know if I could go without a bra since it's so low cut and I hate those stick on things. We'll see.

^About the camisole, I would zoom in on the seams and really study them. Thats where the true quality really shows usually:shock: The camisole I looked at looked decent online, but was hideous in real life. I think one of those stretchy strapless bras would be best with a camisole like this. That was my plan at least:wink: But I only wear a 32D, so if you need more support, you might have a bigger problem than I.

Have you considered buying a second hand silk camisole on Ebay?

I don't own a white shirt either:wink:

I am glad you are enjoying your purchases:flower:

Betina:
Well, we consider the Danish to be more style conscious than us, so being "very Danish" in my eyes is not a bad thing. Shame about your language, but oh well...:innocent:

The things that I want to buy now are a black leather jacket, wash jeans (topshop/cheap monday), a small black celine-ish purse and a silk white shirt. I will wait with buying jumpers untill next season. I just can't find any nice jumpers at the moment.

everlane.com

I am looking for a camel shirt. This one is perfect but from Everlane. They dont ship to my country. Does anyone know where to find another camel shirt?

^Thanks!

I've read this on the internet about APC: ''APC has generally changed quite a bit how they manufacture the product from compared to pre '09. They shifted their manufacturing operations to Macau, and just their overall production quality went down. Some people have a problem with the cotton APCs use which is from Turkey as generally Japanese denim and Cone denim are considered superior.''

I've considered to buy a jumper from them even if its 160 euros. But after reading these messages I'm too hesistant. I want to pay for quality. And if even APC doesnt offer good quality anymore I will look to others cheaper shops.

^At APC, you do pay a lot for the aestetics I think. I wouldn't pay 160 euro for a cotton jumper in a pretty color, when I could get the same quality at UNIQLO for a fraction of the cost...

Thats why I never want to pay a lot for a piece. I always wait for sale. I do love Saint James, thats an awesome brand. So I am looking for other brands that are affordable and good. Everlane and Uniqlo are good imo but unfortunately these brands dont send to my country.

So. Since I found out that a trenchcoat might not be such a good choice for my wardrobe and style currently, I has been thinking of getting a minimalistic black coat instead. I was contemplating wether I could get something that could go for both a spring coat and a dressier coat for winter, but I do not think that will be possible.

For a spring/summer coat I was contemplating getting something in a cut like this one, but I am torn between a coat that I saw that had this shape but where the quilt was shaped like a flower pattern (the colour was still solid black) or going for something in the same shape but not in quilt - more simple and minimalistic. I really like clean lines but at the same time it might be a good choice to go for something with a little more detailing?

I like the idea of the floral pattern as well. Minimalism is very difficult to get right - every detail must be just right, so I think the other option will be better.

The floral sounds very nice and subtle, especially since it's all black.

Perhaps you are right.

I was really leaning towards a more simple cut, but I think I need to start paying more attention to details to avoid ending up in a "my wardrobe is boring"-situation. I just find that there is a really fine line between being in that situation and getting sick of looking at things too fast, because they are too detailed.

^ Another option is to allow things to accumulate a bit (as you know, I stick to 4-5 pieces, but after awhile it adds up), and move things in and out of rotation. I don't know, I guess I don't really get tired of things I liked in the first place. Maybe it's just an element that doesn't exist in my personality

I don't know why, I think it is because I get tired of wearing the same combinations too much, and I find it harder to come op with new combinations with things that are more statatment-y than basic.

Betinapple
if i get tired of my to-go combinations i try to add new details, little things like: a new shade of nailpolish i haven't tried that pops
a new necklace/earrings
different hairstyle / haircut
different make up (lip stick, blush, eyeliner, ...)
a new scarf maybe to add some pattern (you can always go back to solid colours if you get bored of a scarf and usually they aren't overtly expensive.)

maybe it will turn your focus to the new details and make the outfits less boring to you.

BetinappleFirst create your best basic wardrobe. When you have basics add something extra. I will add this lace bra for under camis. It will just show a small amount of lace. And I saw nice dark coloured tartan trousers from Topshop. When Im bored I wear a basic outfit and add that something extra. Try to get out of your comfort zone.
