Happy new year everyone!
So fun to see this thread has seen much activity since I was last here..
I FINALLY pretty much completed my FW wardrobe and found that long-elusive dressy outfit! No more holes, what a relief
New F/W/Spring additions:
Finally, the extra items for the dinners/receptions/parties which I needed so badly for so long:
~Knee-length stretch velvet high-waisted pencil skirt from Yuki Torii, with a very slight tulip flare going on. It's super flattering and good quality, versatile. I already have a similar item from Vivienne Westwood, but the size is too small for me atm.
~I also got these heels. Normally Michael Kors is not my taste but these were super comfy and go with everything I have. I love the art deco feel. I actually tried on the Sam Edelman pumps we talked about but they just weren't comfy for me, and I also realized I needed something dressier.
~To my surprise I also found a fitted l/s black crewneck lace tee from Forever 21 that will go with the skirt above. I've had surprisingly good luck with F21 lace in the past. The brand is so suspiciously inexpensive (I know...morally reprehensible...
), but I actually find the quality and fit preferable to H&M and Zara sometimes. Will go very well with my Mikimoto pearls
.
Daily casual:
~I also now have much more color and versatility in my daily casual wardrobe and am on the way out of blackness...mostly casual sporty wear from local California brands, which I'd never have looked at but I find they actually go well with the usual items I normally wear. A purple windbreaker, red herringbone messenger bag, and an ultra-flattering pair of jeans from Lucky. Oh, and a yellow Lacoste tee, black skinnies. Sometimes you just have to be prodded out of the comfort zone...a trusted and stylish sister helps
My daily look is leaning more...erm...Bay Area hipster and less baroque Morticia, but it feels very refreshing. Who'd have thought.
*Any recs for soft, loose, s/s or 3/4 sleeve tee with an open neckline? Not too boxy on the sides? Inexpensive, since I've spent so much already?
