The 4-5 piece French wardrobe #7

Thank you everyone for your feedback regarding the pieces I bought! I ended up buying the pieces I was still considering, and everything was a keeper except for that skirt - it was cream rather than white and the shape wasn't flattering on me, so it is going back. Oh well

Nymphaea, do you have Aldo where you live? I bought the following brogues from there a couple of seasons ago:

And while they might be a little too rugged for your taste, they have several basic shoes and might fit your needs. They have men's shoes as well.

^Yes, I've been eyeing Aldo for some time, but haven't found the perfect shoe there yet. Thanks barbaraaa!
Anyone any experience with French Sole, e.g. how is the quality/fit? Maybe Betinapple?

Happy new year everyone!
So fun to see this thread has seen much activity since I was last here..:flower:

I FINALLY pretty much completed my FW wardrobe and found that long-elusive dressy outfit! No more holes, what a relief

New F/W/Spring additions:

Finally, the extra items for the dinners/receptions/parties which I needed so badly for so long:

~Knee-length stretch velvet high-waisted pencil skirt from Yuki Torii, with a very slight tulip flare going on. It's super flattering and good quality, versatile. I already have a similar item from Vivienne Westwood, but the size is too small for me atm.

~I also got these heels. Normally Michael Kors is not my taste but these were super comfy and go with everything I have. I love the art deco feel. I actually tried on the Sam Edelman pumps we talked about but they just weren't comfy for me, and I also realized I needed something dressier.

~To my surprise I also found a fitted l/s black crewneck lace tee from Forever 21 that will go with the skirt above. I've had surprisingly good luck with F21 lace in the past. The brand is so suspiciously inexpensive (I know...morally reprehensible...:ninja:), but I actually find the quality and fit preferable to H&M and Zara sometimes. Will go very well with my Mikimoto pearls :P.

Daily casual:

~I also now have much more color and versatility in my daily casual wardrobe and am on the way out of blackness...mostly casual sporty wear from local California brands, which I'd never have looked at but I find they actually go well with the usual items I normally wear. A purple windbreaker, red herringbone messenger bag, and an ultra-flattering pair of jeans from Lucky. Oh, and a yellow Lacoste tee, black skinnies. Sometimes you just have to be prodded out of the comfort zone...a trusted and stylish sister helps  My daily look is leaning more...erm...Bay Area hipster and less baroque Morticia, but it feels very refreshing. Who'd have thought.

*Any recs for soft, loose, s/s or 3/4 sleeve tee with an open neckline? Not too boxy on the sides? Inexpensive, since I've spent so much already?

^Betina bought a nice tee from Gina Tricot recently, maybe it could be the one for you as well?

I really like those shoes as well!:flower:

^so far I am liking that tee, that is for sure. Haven't washed it yet though, and the last organic cotton top I got from Gina Tricot got tiny holes in the fabric the 1st time I washed it, so I am a bit nervous in regards of how it will hold up.

Thank you for the suggestion eizhowa!
I like the shapes a lot, actually. I noticed so far that the shapes I like are not in cotton, I'll continue to look some more on the site to see if there's anything. :flower:

I like them too, they are gorgeous.
By the way, I'm on pinterest, don't know much yet how it works, but I will get there in the end. :cool2:
I've ordered a black knitwear cotton sweater from Benetton, curious for the quality because it's cheap imo.

Thanks for the compliments re the shoes everyone! :flower:
Nymphaea, I also got a sweater from Benetton last season. I must say quality-wise I prefer Uniqlo, but I sometimes prefer the fit and styles of Benetton.
With cotton air-drying and ironing are important.

Can anyone help me to find a scarf or jumper in this exact green olive colour?

^That scarf is actually black (the color is off in the picture), but that wasn't the point... I will keep my eyes open for a green scarf:smile:

Nooo! She has a beautiful nose! And she is french, so her nostrils are tres chic:wink:

Of course, it's just the highly unfortunate angle...funny comment nevertheless, lol

Looks like Yoox has a promotion going ... extra 20% off skirts and dresses (less off other items). Unfortunately the prices of the things I like are still a bit high ...

^That's too bad, maybe they will have a higher promotion in a couple of weeks?
I tried out a Z&V cashmere sweater, but it wasn't like the pic, much shorter, so my belly button almost said peekaboo. Returned it.

^Crop tops are IN-_- This is not the time for having good taste.

I found a black blazer today!:D It did contain 30% polyester, but at this point I don't even care... The cheapest wool blazer I found was 4 x the price of mine. It is from Noa Noa and contains 30% wool and 40% viscose. The fit is very good in the shoulders, the sleeve length was great and it had a split in the back, which I think is a very important detail on little me. I was a bit hesitant about the fit around the waist and hips, but it looked good even though it was quite loose. Hopefully I will be able to layer it under my grey winter coat, and wear it on its own for summer:smile: I will probably find some new buttons though. I do not care for the fabric covered buttons it comes with. They somehow made the blazer feel like something my mother wore when she was my age... Good buttons are important!

It is a very blue black (the designer color is "black"...), but as I am not going to combine it with any other black items, I think it will be fine... (I tried it with black jeans in the store and it looked gross... )

Oh, and it was on sale so yay:clap:

Left on my wishlist for S/S:

1. Black porsellis
2. White t-shirt (Crewneck or V-neck)
3. Dark grey t-shirt

And maybe also a black belt, if I can find a decent one. And maybe the Rockins scarf I talked about in November, if the oil prices go up so that I can afford it:P

Betina:
If the benetton sweater does not work out, Filppa-k had some really nice basic black sweaters for sale. The wool seemed much thicker and better than the uniqlo ones, and they were half off (in Norway at least) so they weren't crazy expensive either:smile:

I know what you mean ... you can't believe the pictures on Yoox, because they put random sizes (whatever they've got) on the model, and then probably pin it ... :rolleyes:The trousers I returned were extremely baggy on the model, but in correct size were very, very narrow ...

Glad you found a blazer, eizhowa. I agree that it looks like something other than black ...
