Thanks, Melisande and Tata. Now my next shopping list is south sea pearl stud.

Melisande, so you use liner? do you put the liner all over the lips to give the lipstick something to 'hang' to or really as a liner? I will try to pick up RR next time I'm in a mall.

Barbaraa, congrats on a new job! ahhhh nothing's better than having things you coveted with great discount!! love that feeling!

I don't know of Melisande of course ( ) but I do that - I find that it makes the lipstick last better.

Absolutely. All over. That's what I mean. Wouldn't dream of doing otherwise. I've tried a gazillion different liners but always come back to MAC, so many of them smear/bleed.

If you don't use the liner all over, you run the risk of looking like Pamela Anderson if you forget to freshen up your lipstick at any one point:P

barbara, glad you're so happy with your wallet! I think it's a great item to invest in, since you use it practically every day. I have my eye on a new one myself ...

And congrats on the new job!

PS Most of the time I use a liner shade that is just darker than my natural lip color, so it's pretty invisible. When my lipstick wears, it's typically just from the inner third or half of my lips, unless I'm eating a massive sandwich or something.

Beautiful Floodette!! Congratulations!
Oh wow Ta-ta, drama indeed, good job keeping your cool through it all
I like plain necklines, they are very versatile with all sorts of necklaces or big earrings.

Been looking casually around the usual suspects for sales, nothing catches my fancy... good thing I bought the striped sweater full-price last month, and my long over-knee boots from the fall have grown comfy so they're happily and elegantly keeping me warm in sub-zero temps. So glad I planned ahead!

Just to say, yesterday my Russian Red was absolutely impeccable after eating a big salad with big clumsy leaves and dressing that went everywhere and having to dab constantly at my mouth with the napkin. So yes. But I would not wear red lipstick without a full base of good liner.

Just another reason to meditate

I love a bargain, but sometimes it's well worth paying full price. Tonight I did not though ... got this for less than a quarter of retail. This is the top I didn't snag in time originally that was returned ... hopefully because of sizing. Lanvin's S/M/L, etc. is quite different from American S/M/L ...

I made a long post and now it's gone..

So, the shirt version. Got some jeans as replacement (one grey pair from A.P.C, one light blue from Nudie) in the sale. And just this morning I spotted a great t-shirt by Chayalan (I needed some non-solid tops for the summer) and a grey cashmere v-neck form Jcrew. Never bought cashmere before, hope it will be as cloudy-soft as I hope. ^_^

Also got new glasses, the climate control at my workplace is insane and my contacts usually are dry at the end of the day. Look forward to wearing my glasses more often. :glare:

^ Great frames, and like the bold T! Also like how there's a color scheme to all the pieces ...

That's a great earring floodette, glad you love it so much.

Great your exchange dress works well fashionista-ta, statement necklaces are so nice. And a great top too.

Congrats barbaraaa with your new job and your great new wallet. Your wardrobe is going to be better and better! :flower:

Love your mini collection Fewormany, well balanced and great versatile items.

Concerning the sale I purchased so far a great black woolen sweater and a black leather pants. Keeping my eyes open for more knitweat and maybe the black belted cashmere coat I've pinned on my wishlist, but I suspect is rather thin irl. Still on the look out for a nice fitted black blazer, I have to be patient, but it's a bit annoying to have to wait forever for the perfect one to come by. :P My wardrobe is in it's basics complete so most of the time now I'm on the look out for something special/different.

So much for my transition out of the Morticia/Comme des Garçons/Convent/Baroque look and foray into the preppy... I went what would have been grocery shopping and came home with yet another long black woolen skirt! But it was so cute, a full, box-pleated, flouncy style, tea-length, in super-warm thick wool, fully lined, pretty well-made, and with pockets!! And 50% off. I'm going somewhere very snowy next and I couldn't bear the thought of only having short breezy skirts to wear. It's okay, it will serve me well. Welcome, little one, to the sisterhood of black skirts.

Why turn away from something that works for you? Preppy Morticia it is. :D

Thank you everyone! I had applied to this job a couple of years ago and didn't get in, and now I did! I'm very happy ^_^

Love love love both the t-shirt and the frames!

So much for my transition out of the Morticia/Comme des Garçons/Convent/Baroque look and foray into the preppy...
I'll be honest with you here, I'm jealous of the Morticia look! I wish I had the guts/aesthetics to pull off all-black... and it's just not that, but I love some colours and I definitely love prints, so I would have to turn away from things I do love! And like Fewormany said - why turn away from something that works?

Haha Preppy Morticia  Boggles the mind but there you are!
Aww you are both very sweet, thank you!
It works so easily and seamlessly and elegantly so I do like it, but I guess it's just that sometimes I get bored of it, and it does make for a more intense look that could scare others and even yourself  Just last month I showed up for a Christmas party where everyone was in red and green and sparkles and I was there with my black lace skirt and black lace sweater and long black hair and onyx jewelry and had to apologize :ninja: Yes, you are both right, as long as I have other options when I desire them it's fine to come back to all-black once in a while.:flower:

Barbaraaa
, yes congratulations on your new job!! And really, does all-black take guts to pull off? I never realized, but I guess it all comes down to what you feel most like yourself in. By all means, as you say, stay with the colours and patterns that work for you...but you might also be surprised that you enjoy having one black dress or a black top and black pants or skirt to wear once in a while...maybe worth trying :flower:

I do have a lot of black... most of my shoes, most of my trousers, four dresses that come to mind, and several tops and blazers! It feels elegant and chic, but like you say, when I go all black I feel outside the norm and like I should apologise... that's where the guts come into place!

I'm wearing my new black dress today ... and realizing I finally have the LBD I've never had before! I am liking it ... and the big sleeves are really flattering--the rest of you looks tiny! (The man knows what he's doing.) I removed the hooks this morning as I like it better on me without them--and so cute how it's made inside--there are extra bits of fabric reinforcing both the hook and the eye, on either side of the side seams. Just made so well ...

Wearing it with my leopard snake ballerinas today, and then will change into heels for dinner. Probably black Valentino suede/grosgrain/ribbon tie booties ...

PS I wouldn't apologize ... as Julia Child said, Never complain, never explain ... Now if you were carrying a pail of black tar and spilled it, that would be cause for apology

Ta-ta your dress and outfits sound absolutely fabulous!!! Have fun!

"never complain, never explain", good one. I'm very good with the first part but veeeery bad with the second :ninja:

Barbaraaa, haha, it depends on where I think...the only reason I felt bad was because it was a festive Christmas party and I looked like a one-woman walking funeral. But in the end I was the life of the party so it was okay, lol.:magic: Oh, one time I even showed up to an actual memorial service and the person whispered "Aww, you didn't need to wear all black" so I had to whisper back "It's what I always wear"...

Congrats on your new job Barbaraa!

I really cannot recall even feeling like I had to apologize for wearing all black, nor that I looked Goth/Morticia. But then again, I live en Denmark, everyone wears black :Pink:

And also, hair colour/style and makeup etc. make a huge difference...

^You are perfectly right - also I do believe that the norm in your area makes a difference in regards to how all black looks are percieved. We had a couple of years in Denmark where a lot of (young) people wore all black a lot, and noone cared since it was normal, I guess.
