Most agencies -if they don't like you- they don't give you any answer.
I think it's better when they tell you that you're not right for them, because that way you just stop waiting for the answer.

Can anybody PM me please about which New York agencies go after pretty faces and not unusual looking models please. I need a representation in New York..

RACE model management nyc- opinions?

Very new agency made up of bookers formerly with karins NY. Hard to evaluate b/c they are so new and Karins has not been a top tier agency since Scott Lips left to form his own agency. But a bunch of Karins girls did leave for Race so at least their loyalty to the bookers speak well about the people there.

Ford, Elite and Wilhelmina have always been about the pretty girl though every now and then they've had the successful odd-looking girl. Elite goes more for glamour, Ford is more about a clean wholesome look, Wilhelmina is very much about the commercial look who most of all can make money. If the girl can also do some high fashion, all the better.

Hi. What's known about Marilyn NY agency? How do they work and what's their level? Thanks.

Definitely one of the best agencies. You can see a profile of them on models.com. Paris branch is stronger than NYC office, but still among top 5. And their girls have tended to be very loyal to the agency which speak volumes about it. Though there have been some notable defections lately...

Sorry, let us put it another way. We've got DNA, Women and IMG. As far as I understand, that's the right order for main fashion agencies in NY. Where's Marilyn? I've been told by several photographers, that it's even weeker than 1. Is it wrong?

DNA. Women and IMG are definitely the top agencies in NYC. Marilyn and 1 are pretty comparable to each other. A lot of 1's top girls became big with other agencies before moving on to 1 whereas Marilyn has a longer track record of making their girls big. If you're thinking of signing with them, you certainly can do worse and if they're interested in you, you should give them serious consideration.

Thanks for the answer. Sorry, I won't go in detail as I'm thinking of changing the agency. I can't do worse really, and, sure, they are interested in me. But I've seen during the last fw only one girl from them everywhere - the one that opened Marc J (well, not to list the tops).

Hi again. By the way, maybe you also know Milano agencies? I'm very badly oriented in them really. What would you say, which of them are promoting and pushing the models, not simply taking 40-50% from them? In short, is there any alternative to Why Not?

IMG, D'Management, Beatrice and Women are very, very strong.

Thanks.

And what do you think of Japanese ones - in Tokyo and Osaka?

Japanese Agencies' Blacklist

Hello everyone. This thread could be interesting to those who are choosing an agency in Japan to do some money job. Please, all the info could be useful. If you think an agency has got bad clients, or you've lost nearly all your hair trying to get your 10000 USD gross guarantee per month - tell us about it.

For instance I know, that Yo is difficult to work with, there have been cases when girls were doing several small jobs during the first trial 14 days and they were sent back being told, that they didn't do anything at all. Folio's clients could be not good enough: I've heard of unpaid overtimes.

Has anyone ever heard of Maier Management in Los Angeles? Any info on them??

I heard that a model needs to be western, have porceline skin, and big eyes like Gemma Ward to be successful in the japanese model industry...

Ali recieved a letter today saying that Ford is opening an office in San Francisco CA.

There's a link to SF office Web site off Ford's main Web site, and they have pics from some models up.
