The Model Agency Mega Thread (January 2004 - March 2010)

Guys, there's no need to argue. That actually depends on the markets. And that's what exactly a mother agent is for - to know all this specifics... In some markets there are no ways to return the money invested... It all depends on a contract...
The same is re how to switch the agencies... In certain countries like Russia a labor code doesn't allow to keep a worker for more than 14 days after he sends a note to the boss... Regardless a contract or whatever... So in fact everything depends on the law in any specific country.
In Germany there are no contracts at all... So it's not a big deal to switch the agencies without paying the debts...

Could someone answer me how long does it take for foreign model agents who visit agencies in smaller countries to decide whether they'd take the model or not?
There are no specific figures :) But usually it takes around 1 week maximum after a scout returns back to the agency to invent some answer...

Hi, does anyone know anything about Imagebook model management or Zebra model management? My friend got scouted by both, and I've never heard of them so I though I'd ask around and see what people think. Thanks! :)

both arent a big deal .You can´t compare with Premier Models or an agency like that ,this you wrote are small and more commercial and not amazing portfolios :flower:

^ Thanks for the info. Yeah, I didn't think they would be like the bigger names, but I don't know if she'd have much luck with those as she's not that tall.

Well, it all depends of what you consider as not that tall (172? 174? 176?) and of how her face looks like - I mean if she's rather commercial looking or not. If she's less than 170 and pretty commercial, most likely the bigger ones won't be really interested in her but if she has a rather high-fashion face/look it could still be interesting to try to see with one of them... ;)

She's definitely less that 170, but with killer cheekbones. ^_^ I think she'd do better with a more commercial agency then, thanks for the help.

The court battle between Ford and Next over Kendra Spears has heated up.

NYPost.com :
The suit seeks a permanent order barring Next from doing business with Spears before her contract expires next year, along with $1 million in compensatory damages.
Justice Marcy Friedman signed off on an order barring Spears from doing business with Next, pending a full hearing on May 21.
Ford lawyer Andrew Celli exulted over the judge's ruling, saying: "New leadership at Ford will not tolerate models breaching their contracts."
Next did not return a call for comment.
Ford sued Next last year over poaching. The two sides settled, but Next hasn't made good on the terms, the new suit says.

According to this and a previous article, Kendra has a three-year contract ending in December 2010.

"Incredibly, this is the sixth time in less than a year that Next has wrongfully acquired . . . models and employees under exclusive contract with Ford," the suit notes. Over the past 10 months, Next has swiped leggy lovelies Agnete Hegelund, Natalia Andrade and Pamela Semmache.

what do you guys think about marilyn in NY? i've been wondering how's the agency doing with ther new faces and basically all the models, as caroline trentini left..

It's no good to estimate an agency just on the girls they were able to raise properly. Nearly every more or less big agency exc for the most ****ty ones has got the girls they were able to take good care of. The question is, what's happening to the girls that don't rock from the start and which is the percent of the ones who rock...
After the management changed there, it became even more difficult to work with them. Maybe it's one of the reasons why Caroline left - I've heard from several people that Chris Gay is not such a nice person to work with...

I'm not estimating... I'm just saying, they're a good agency, if they're interested, you should look at them seriously
Yes, the powerhouses of NY, may be Women, IMG, Next, DNA , but if you want the personal attention of a boutique, you can't go past marilyn..

Not sure if this is the right thread, but there is a new model.
She is being looked at by 3 Agency's including Elite.
She was asked to model for Victoria Secret.
She's 17, tan, loks like Anne Hathaway.
I think her name begins with a J

Can anyone tell me about Crystal Models in Paris?

They are the sister agency to Slides Models and while Slides is now completely fashion-focused, Crystal does a good job in high-end commercial and catalogue. They also have at least one high fashion girl, Chantal Abbott who did 4-5 great shows in Spring 09 and a bit less this season. Overall, it's a good agency if you know what to expect from them. Just like Karin in Paris.

According to a comment on the Imagist and on tfs Neal Hamil has just left Elite, also Daul Kim has just switched to Next from Elite

Can anyone shed any light?

Hey Guys! Does anybody know any good modelling agencies to start modelling at?

im thinking of mabye starting when i turn 14 in 2 months.

If you are in Sydney, send basic digital pictures along with your details:

Your name, age, height, measurements (bust , waist, hip (around the fullest part)

They should be about 32/33/34 bust, 24 waist, 34 hip, at your age and height or less )

Don't forget contact details email, phone number

Get someone else to take the digital pics

They should be no makeup, natural hair, form fitting clothes, both profiles, full length shot, straight on shot, one with hair off face

Don't write anything else much or longwinded especially not containing the words, dream, passion, etc,
If they like the look of you, they will make an appointment, take a parent with you.

If you get a positive response from your emails to agencies, see all the agencies who like the look of you and make your decision at the end in conjunction with a parent , which one you felt more comfortable with or who seemed the most enthusiastic, don't let people rush you or push you into anything

You should send emails to Priscillas, Viviens, Chic, Chadwicks ,Scene first, IMO they are the best agencies in Sydney

Good Luck!

PS, you can findthe submission email address on the agency websites and yes they DO look at them and usually (not always get back to you by two weeks time)

also to add....
try to take the pics in natural light,no fussy backgrounds, just a blank wall is best, nothing arty, they just want to see what you look like!
Also, some people send in phone pics, i'm sure you know this already, but that's not the greatest idea!
Also, don't forget to shrink your pics, bookers get annoyed when the pics come thru the size of the Northern territory!
