I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask but...

So if an agency decided they want to represent you..does the girl always sign a contract immediatley? Or is that just for their "top" girls?

Also, if a girl doesn't sign a contract is she still considered "signed" then?

I'm just trying to get into this whole modeling business and trying to figure the ins and outs of it!

I appreciate a response..thanks!

They contact you inmediatly. A contract means everything, when you sign that contract you're inmediatly in

olá todoss, question: I was jst curious as to which agencies, if any, are currently a touch more conducive to taking on models who are borderline/below req. height (5'5-5'6ish)? I'm aware that smaller agencies are always more open; but are there any well-established agencies out there who are more likely to value face & frame above simple stature?

i would take a look is the 'models who aren't that tall' thread

i am applying to an agency in ny .. and i am trying to get a mental summary of the best places for ethnic models to apply. this mother agency really put things in question to me, as i realize now many of these agencies didn't take in women of africaN DESCENT to start, but only represented them after they got big. right now i am thinking of applying to marilyn, ford... any other ideas....

I'd also give Elite, Q and Wilhelmina a look. Bethann Hardison, who's African Americn used to have her own agency. The agency no longer exists but I think she will represent that stray talent or two if she really believes there's potential.

Trump, Marilyn, Wilhelmina, Ford, Next...
I like very much african girls. They always have something exotic and different, so don't be shy and go to all the agencies. First I think you should try with Marilyn, is a great agency. Ford too :)

i am not african--- i meant like black people... my family is west-indian and south american... however i think african women sometimes are very unique and gorg. i appreciate both of ur advice--- thank you. especailly marilyn and q since they have al ot of "normal" non-african looking black girls... cuz i don't think i look very extreme. i look like a darker brazilan/ dominican--- a little darker than emanuela de paola

Def. try Q. They like 'normal' people. :flower:

Does anyone know what the "average" commision a Paris agency takes is? Thanks.

print models?

I'm living in Manhattan, I'm sorta "hard up" for cash because I'm in between jobs right now..... I'd love to be an actress but things aren't going that well... a few casting agents/directors took me aside and told me "check out modeling"... I mean, I could never do runway (5'8ish & 127 lbs, size 8 - too short. too heavy. with hips.) but I was thinking maybe print? this is really lame, but my psychic told me to look into print modelling, so I'm just wondering if anyone had any suggestions or tips... I use a website called backstage to get info about acting/etc... i was wondering if there was a similiar website for modeling ? thanks

^^you should check out the thread "so you wanna be a model" on this site.

Merged with the Model Agency thread, you'll have more luck in here :flower:

I just got accepted from Starzpeople (HongKong)! Are they any good? Do the models get lots of jobs? I'm hoping to make some good money so that I can be financially independent.

If anyone is with them, please PM me...
