The Style Channel | the Fashion Spot

The Style Channel

I'd like the Style Channel a lot more if it had more actual fashion on it.

Here's what I make sure to tape on Style:

Fashiontrance - Required watching. Packed with informative blurbs. I wish the actual runway music was played but I suppose it must be edited to squeeze four presentations per episode. Needs more designers and collections from yesteryear should be aired too. And I mean let's go way back.

Fashion File - Tim Blanks is The Don. Love him.

Fashion Television (Canada) - Great show. Jeanne Beker is a good interviewer but she sometimes makes things out to be deeper than they actually are.

Behind the Velvet Ropes - Lauren Ezersky rocks. She's so unique and I find her totally personable and sexy. Christ, one day Oscar de la Renta called her on her newly-acquired bellybutton ring and, well, a good moment on TV.

Big Boutique - The show for spotters. It goes where others don't and covers smaller designers, plus the hotels and boutiques that are featured.

During fashion week, they'll show Runway but they always pick the worst hosts.

Judging from the above shows, the channel seems to show a lot of fashion but these programs are the exception. I'm with HBoogie, they should show loads more fashion. Leave that reality-home improvement-makeover cack out of the line-up.

SOT: Thank god for FTV (France) and Full Frontal Fashion on MetroStories (NYC).

Yeah, I really enjoy Fashion File and Big Boutique. If I want to see makeover or lifestyle shows I'll turn on TLC. Area used to show interesting things, like furniture deesign shows, but I'm getting the feeling it's morphing into a home makeover show.

I used to watch The Look For Less but then realized watching it was pointless as it wasn't giving me any tips I didn't already know. And Elizabeth Filarski/Hasselback just grates.

Lauren Ezersky annoys the crud outta me. But that's just me. :ninja:

 :yuk:  They're the most annoying things ever.

*nods* i like it when they make celebrities make an entire outfit for a hundred bucks.

It pisses me off that its always in LA and NYC though. and they always go vintage and put it on a model. It would be a lot better if they would make it so that you would make an outfit for under a hundred for a real person in a city that doesnt have as many different fashion outlets available.

It isnt easy living a fashionable life on a coed budget *hrumph*

Have you noticed that figure is going up now? It's like at $150 now. Or sometimes the guest will battle Iron Chef Elizabeth and it's who spends the least and nearly always comes close to the $200 mark. Inflation!

I guess I'm revealing I've seen a few episodes...

The stylenetwork sucks...it used to be ok. Glow was okay but they barely even show that now. The only good shows are Fashion Trance, Fashion Filr, etc...and all those come on at like 2:00am or later. All they show now is that stupid show Guess Who's Coming to Decorate and Whose Wedding is it anyway...those shows are dumb...it shouldn't be called stylenetwork anymore.

I used to love the style network but it is boring, now they hardly ever show anything truly fashion related which bites and when they do it is at ridiculously early times iin the morning!!! Ugh!!

GASP! Don't you dare soil the good name of Iron Chef by combining it with Elizabeth Filwhat'shername!

I think I need to get this channel...

fashion file, videofashion! (because sometimes you want to just veg out to runway), and fashion television are highlights, but my favorite style channel exclusive is behind the velvet ropes. she is just so funny.

 My mistake!

mikeijames, thanks for plugging in Videofashion!, I forgot about that one. Basically in this age of TiVO, the Style Network is a good thing to have. Call your local cable operators and demand Style!

The longer this thread gets the more I realize I have less to complain about. Also, to our Canadian TFSers, do any of you have the 24-hr Fashion Television channel? What's that like?

And especially for HBoogie...Here's Lauren! ;)

i normally catch it during NY fashion week to see the shows,
but whats with the italien mafia wife-like presenter woman with a the big black mop and a teeny grey streek

she speaks like janice from friends kinda and knows very little about fashion......as you can tell from her choice of clothing

she makes the programme look like something from 10 years ago

Hi, I'm new here....
Does anyone get to watch Fashion TV? They used to simulcast on the internet, but they stopped doing it. I live in the United States, and I really miss it now. They showed one runway show after another. I couldn't take my eyes off of it. :woot:

I wish I got Fashion Television, too!

If I lived off-campus here, I would get the Metro Channel, but sadly it's not in the on-campus cable lineup. Neither is the Style Network, but I don't really miss it.

Do you mean Fashion Television (Canada) or FTV (France)? FTV is certainly streaming on the website but it's not simultaneously simulcast. There's a lag. The only cable system I've seen that broadcasts FTV is in Miami Beach.

Back to the net stream, let's say it's a bit on the fussy side in terms of reliability but it has been getting more consistent ever since the overhaul about two months ago.

Our Miami peeps here can help out. Alejandro, do you get this on cable? If so, you want to compare the time lag? By the way, when I became your boss assigning you these tasks I don't know. Sorry! ;)
