UK Vogue July 2017 : Carolyn Murphy by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin

It does look like Carolyn from 2027 indeed.

I actually like this! It looks a bit too retouched but hello this is Vogue U.K.

Edit: Thank you melancholy for the info!

And congratulations to Inez & Vinoodh for completing the Big 4 in 2017!

This is actually their second Vogue UK cover, the first one was with Elise Crombez back in 2005-6.

So they just went with a different font!! Murphy can do so much better than here, but it's UK Vogue!! Wow I&V are having an EPIC year, so happy for them!

Apparently they've done the two covers this month:

The first cover is better, but it's still dull and uninspiring. When last have we seen these kind of covers (late 90's, perhaps)?? Absolutely outdated. I&V should be ashamed of themselves, because the 2nd cover is even worse. It looks like Jaime pushed for the 2nd cover......

Thanks for posting, Vogue28! :pink:

Carolyn's work is usually superb but I am not impressed by this at all...

The first cover is beautiful. The fact that both Amber and Carolyn got covers this year makes me so happy since they're two of my favs.

So happy! I&V is on a roll this year!!

I think this one is not on I&V, remember how Alex chooses her covers. It's all on her and her team. I&V are known for their stron portraits, and for this to be different, it had the influence of the tops.

The second cover is a disaster. Who on earth are they targeting for that cover? Disaster. Tasteless. It looks so sloppy and distasteful. Was she photoshopped on the chair? She looks like she's about to fall off the chair.

They should've just left the chair out and made it seem like she was floating

i like the first cover, yes those kinds of tight shots are a little dated, but i also think it's chic and understated. The second cover is very unflattering, a total eyesore, it's as if they've stretched her legs? they look disproportionate to her torso and head.

I like the one with the chair. Is this the last issue under the current EIC?

Not fan of these covers

But there is a pic of Carolyn wearing denim
That would have been a much better photo for this cover

I don't know what to feel about this. I love Carolyn but this cover is just lacklustre. But it's stays true to Alexandra's Vogue UK. So I guess that says a lot.

My subscription copy just arrived (and Vogue have indeed done the two covers this month). I've got the full-body shot cover in front of me now and can't say I'm overly fond - much prefer the closeup of Carolyn!

Review - 195 Pages.

I'm all for Carolyn but this is an absolute snooze fest. Jesus this magazine. Bring on the new guard ASAP.

It was said that Lucinda will leave this summer, but I'm sure she will have styled the September cover. Surprised to see Phelan style the age cover, to be honest. It's very weak for her. There must be better shots in her editorial then.

'Now You See Me', with the exception of Charlotte, Vanina and Pamela, is the feature I'm least anticipating due to that vomit-inducing cast!!

@ vogue28: I saw couple of copies on Instagram - they all are with the full body cover. Is there any note in the cover credits - is the close-up only for newsstands or both are randomly distributed?

No, nothing whatsoever stating whether or not the the covers are exclusively for newsstand or subscribers. I imagine subscribers have just received the same cover and that the two covers together will indeed be available on the newsstand (like the Victoria Beckham and Lara Stone duo covers in recent years).

Fingers crossed this issue isn't selling for £2 here because I'd hate for that ugly yellow sticker monstrosity slapped on the beautiful closeup of Carolyn!

Really bad. Both.

How can anyone saying Inez & Vinoodh are having a great run..... This is another great leap backwards and it makes me sad :(
