US Bazaar November 2008 : Drew Barrymore by Alexi Lubomirski

Here it is...

Anja Rubik
"Perfect Pieces"
Ph. Camilla Akrans
Fashion Editor: Brana Wolf

Scanned by me

^ thanks for the scan, I like it, but it kinda reminds me of Freja's ed from September's issue.

I love Mariacarla's ed, and she looks amazing in it!

I must say Anja knows how
2 take a picture(we all know that)
I think Harper's has the best eds between
Elle and Vogue

looks like "each editorial in each magazine should have at least one Prada outfit..."

wow. Anja is love. i wasnt thinking of buying this issue but her ed is really making me rethink my decision.

Faith thanks for the scans chica. :flower:

Anja looks great, Bazaar does amazing studio eds.

You're very welcome :flower: I must say that I'm a big fan of this editorial (Even beyond the Anja factor). Camilla's play with lighting has produced great results here, and the images show off the clothes without requiring much effort. Ingredients for a fantastic story!

Anja's edit is lovely & the lighting is amazing. I love Camilla's work.

Thanks for the scans Faith :flower:

Is Harper's Bazaar going downhill? I mean this seriously becacuse I got this a while ago, and I realized that like 70% of the ads in the Nov 2008 issue were all about hair, watches, cars, and other things besides fashion ad campaigns. Does anyone know what's up with that?

I don't know why I bother subscribing to this magazine. The only thing worthwhile about this month was the spread with The Williams Sisters.

To my eyes, US Vogue, Bazaar and Elle have all been carrying this sort of advertising for a while now, where the main fold-outs are for car manufacturers and there's about thirty pages of shampoo ads. And I think we might be saying goodbye to the car fold-outs very shortly.

I haven't noticed that much change in the composition of advertising in UK mags this year. At the moment, because its approaching Christmas, the December issues are full of jewellery ads and advertorials to give people expensive ideas for the perfect present.

But yes, it's an interesting thought - will we see smaller March issues in 2009 as companies cut back on advertising? Or will they proceed as usual with their ad spend but focus on promoting different merchandise, as people still need to buy some little luxuries, even in economic bad times? Or will they overhaul their advertising strategies to encompass more efficient ways of targeting customers via the internet, bypassing the printed page?

Anyhow, I saw this issue of Bazaar today, it was bright and cheerful but somehow failed to make a real impression on me. Ah well, I look forward to December's effort, it usually involves glamour.
