US Vogue April 2023 : Cara Delevingne by Annie Leibovitz

Absolutely beautiful photo of Cara and I'm interested to read the accompanying article. Undecided on the styling. Leather jacket and jeans on the cover of American Vogue is something we haven't seen in a while. Feels almost more like a Vanity Fair cover? But I like it.

Is April the "mental health" issue? Between last year's Bella Hadid cover story and this year with Cara....

We need Annie back in fashion!

Gorgeous cover, everything about it. The styling isn't very American Vogue, but it looks authentic and fashiony which I guess is what they're after.

What I don't like is how American Vogue is now turning into Vanity Fair. This story down to the cover and editorial is more VF. But this is what happens when the head of content also runs a magazine in the stable she manages. She'll get all the exclusives and top talent for her own magazine.

Gorgeous cover, and editorial.
Looks more like a fall story tho

Vogue US is giving us what Vanity Fair used to gave us back in the day before it started giving us whatever the hell is giving these days.

It’s a pretty editorial but not sure how relatable Cara could be to current audience.

I was thinking the other day - the USP of Vanity Fair is eroding over time. So many other magazines do their own Hollywood Portfolios, so there's plenty of choice on the market for that type of content, they don't seem to be producing iconic photoshoots or getting any exclusives, there's no stable of great writers producing features for them, and of the articles they DO produce, you'd find better elsewhere.

The one strength I could think of, is the editor's affinity with books, so if VF moved towards covering that in more detail, that could work. You've got a reduced budget, so you can't commission as much original content, but there's nothing stopping them from excerpting more from books of all sorts. VF has been doing that for decades, and the depth contained within the excerpted sections might compensate for the shallow nature of most of their own generated material.

"I was not okay" lol. I don’t know who would feel relatable to her but definitely not me. The cover itself is okay, but the images with lawns are  like Windows XP wallpaper?

I feel like every image, with the exception of the cover and the Bottega shot, looks like it was shot by Mert and Marcus and definitely gives Stella McCartney ad campaign vibes

lol she’s been sober for a minute.. that’s not enough time to talk about the healing process of something as complex as an addiction and frankly, about something you don’t ever ‘heal’ from. It’s a long process with ups and downs, for life, and a year is nothing. I think it’s irresponsible to jump on the story so soon, portray her as some kind of inspiration or guidance, all just to clean her image and quickly restore her modeling or acting career, when she doesn’t even depend on the income of that.

They should’ve picked some other pic from the rest of the story, they look more upbeat and green. The one on the cover looks just depressing, like they granted her an hour away from the Arizona facility and that’s what we got, some dry landscape, an acceptable outfit for group therapy and an exhausted look.

Both her catwalk and acting are diabolical.
She is not relevant without her family ties.
Even napo baby like Bella can walk better than her.
